I had to rearrange things today because DS has decided to join us for our September trip. Now we will be in Epcot for one dinner. When I called today, I wound up with Rose and Crown at 5:10 for the day we need. Tutto Italia and Les Chefs du France had no availability. While I have been trying to be okay with this (cultivating a relaxed attitude!), I am now feeling the disappointment. So, a couple of questions. Has anybody eaten at Rose and Crown lately? (Neither of my kids eat fried food, so the fish and chips would be out.) Also, do people actually cancel ADRs or do they just not show? In other words, does it pay to keep calling (at a long-distance rate) for my preferred restaurants? I was on hold today for about 15minutes.

Yes, people do actually cancel. If you don't want to keep calling long distance, you could try calling when you arrive at Disney and I would call on the day you are at Epcot if you still haven't had any luck. We were at Rose & Crown two years ago. My DH loves the Bangers & Mash and I've had the glazed pork loin and it was very good.

I would keep calling and hopefully you will get lucky. Up here in Canada I can call using YAK for about 5 cents per minute so even 15 minutes on hold doesn't cost us much. Not sure about your area but there must be some kind of cheap long distance.

If you can't change it, just enjoy having your son with you, order a nice English beer and relax. If you make the best of the situation I am sure you will enjoy yourself.

I would definately keep calling - there is always the possibility that something will open up. :)

If you do end up at R&C, don't worry, it is a lovely restaurant and I'm not sure which days, but I think they have a piano player who plays in the bar area who is supposed to be very, very good.

We had dinner there and enjoyed it very much. I can't remember off hand what we all had for entrees but everyone was pleased and no one had fish & chips. Mine was the chicken dish and I had the roasted mushroom medley as an appetizer which was awesome.

Try not worry, you may end up very pleasantly suprised by Rose & Crown. :)

I always cancel my ADRs if I know I am not going to use them. I would keep calling and as the PP stated try once you get down there to see if you can get anything.

Good Luck!!

I feel much better. It is really hard for me to beat back what I call Disneyitis (the compulsion to make all things...even those out of my control...perfect). Thanks for the helpful remarks!

Yes, it is definitely worth trying back at some point. I began last September for a Christmas trip. It took probably 3-4 phone calls, but I did eventually get everything that I wanted because of people canceling their ADRs. One thing to think about, I did all my calling on my cell phone and the calls were part of my monthly minutes.

I think it definately pays to keep calling, I would also call in the mid-afternoon for less hold time. There have been a few ADRs I really wanted and was not able to get for weeks! The times ended up not being ideal but we got in there. Good Luck!

Another note ... Bistro de France only books 30 days in advance and that might be an option for Sept. It's on the business casual dress code, but I noticed 2 weeks ago that they don't seem to take that very seriously. Te food is a notch better than downstairs at Chefs ... but also a notch more expensive.

This is definitely something to consider! I always forget that the bistro is up there! Thank you for the reminder.

I hope you manage to find something for your son on the menu. Currently on the kids menu there is:

Chicken/Cheese Pizza
Beef and Macaroni
Macaroni and Cheese
Bangers and Mash
Shepherds Pie

And also a grilled cheese sandwich if he's not happy with any of the above mentioned items. :D
