Trying to add one more to ressies!

Well my story is that we booked this trip, the 4 of us for a surprise for DDs birthday. 2 weeks ago, I convinced MIL to come b/c she has been on every trip with us (sadly FIL is staying home) I have been trying to get her onto all our ressies. there are 2 big ones left and I am pretty sure that although I call every day I will not be able to get a table of 5---1900 park fare which is on dd's actual birthday and I can not change this one at all escept within a few hours and le cellier (I know another hard one!) What should I do,should I call more than once a day to try to get her in? What would happen if we shouwed up with her (would they try to accomdate her?) We have never had this before. I do have a 2 year old and could put him on my lap if need be. i am just so bummed especially the birthday dinner. DD would be so upset if MIL can't eat with us b/c of how close they are. Any one ever try to add one more at the podium an if so what happened? thanks!

The problem is that you are trying to go from a four top table which is common up to either a six top table or adding a two top table to your existing reservation. Disney doesn't just stick a chair at the end of the table. I know at 50s Prime Time, that would be almost impossible to do. At Sci Fi, you would now go from two parties (one of four and a separate party of two other people) to one party (for all five of you).

You can try showing up with the five of you but I would expect you will have to wait as basically a walk up for a table to open up for your party size.

And I have a two year old grandson. There is no way he would agree to sit on anyone's lap for a full dinner. It's not a way I would recommend anyone try to enjoy dinner but if you want to try that, go ahead but Disney will still consider you a party of five.

We had two unexpected guests one trip. Since we had ADRS at 6 restaurants I too tried to add them. The CM told me just to show up and explain that you have two more. I did just that and had no problems at all getting them at the same table with us. This was in June and WDW was very busy. I'd just show up at the restaurant and explain to them you need to add another person.

Thanks you so much! I know this is not guaranteed but this is what i will try if I am unsuccessful at tring to get a new ressie. I have successfully switched 5 ressies so I feel lucky in doing that. I knew these 2 would be hard but I want this trip to be as special as possible because of DDs birthday and hubby just getting back from Iraq. Thanks again, this has made me feel a little better!

I have basically the same deal at the same place. DBIL, who lives in Orlando, is coming over to spend the day with us. My dad will not be able to join us for this meal and I have the res for 8. No problem right? Wrong! DBIL is also bringing this girl he's interested in getting to know a little better which makes 9. Fortunately, DBIL is pretty easygoing and would be more than happy to take his friend over to Gasparilla Grille (I think that's what it is) and have a more affordable (and less Princessey) meal there. No harm in trying though...

I figure the same thing. I will be bummed about the b-day dinner but I am hoping for some pixie dust! BTW where in PA are you? We are in York.

Last year we originally booked our reservations for 4 and had to add one and no problem. Earlier this year there was a thread with a problem like you. You could try to add 2 and then take one off. Also, you could just show up and hope for the best. We were there last week and most of the places we ate at were pretty empty. I don't understand why so many are having difficultly getting reservations-Odd. Good luck!!

Yeah, it is pretty good and lots to do! ia m a baltimore girl though and miss it terribly! Both families are there so I am down there at least 2 times a month. DH will never move back But I understand, we got 3Xs the house we would have had if we had bought in balto. never been to pittsburg surpisingly, not philly either. I really need to travel more but when I have the time, I want to go to disney

Thanks for the inputa nd i am glad to hear about crowd. i am thinking because of the free dining offer being released to visa holders, it is making the ressies hard to come by. It took 8 days and I was finally able to change yak and yeti to 5 today. I will try until the trip thougha nd maybe I will get lucky. I will also try for a table of 6.
