I just sent the email to member services to have our reservation segment, so we can have one day of the DDP. We are doing the Fantasmic Dining Package so I thought this would make $$$ sense to one day. I hope it works and they don't screw up my reservation.

I just did the same thing today! I got a response this afternoon and everything is looking good on the member site. I am sure it will be fine :)

I have received the automated email response, but not the confirmation that it has been segmented. I figured the email route was better then calling.

I called on Monday and talked to MS about adding the QS ddp for the first night and it took less than 10 minutes to do the segment part and take my payment.

Stil waiting for a confirmation email. I just sent them an email telling them I would like to segment one day of our trip to add one day of DDP. We only want it for the day we are doing the Fantasmic Dining Package.

Their systems were down all day yesterday I think, so you should probably hear back today.

Did you get this resolved. I mentioned that I called on Monday and it took all but 10 minutes to segment and add the QS ddp and charge my cc. Got a confirmation later and all is well. Good luck.

Can you please explain what you mean when you say 'segmenting' I'm unfamiliar with this. Thanks!

How do you segment an existing reservation?popcorn::

This is the first I've heard of this too but here's my take, and them maybe someone who's more knowledgeable will step in and comment:

Segmenting means to take your reservation and break it up once or more so you can add the dining plan for just specific days. For example, some have been stating they add it for the first night only. This makes sense as some of us may not have groceries until we go out the following day.

Whatever the reason, to segment, we call MS and tell them we'd like to add <plan name> Dining plan for the night of the <reservation day>. In effect this will take your reservation and split it. If the day is in the middle of the stay we will end up with three reservations. It seems to me we'll need to check in each time and the possibility exists that we might be moved if the room designator didn't notice the reservations as linked.

You pretty much got everything right except, there should be no moving rooms. Yes you will have to go check in again to get new keys that will have your dining plan on them. I am trying to segment the 1st day we check into our 2nd resort during our 1 week stay. We are going to do the Fantasmic Dining pkg and I am going to get one day of the Deluxe Dining Plan. We will have 3 table service credits for that night, and you can use those credits until midnight of the next day. So we will use one for Mama Melrose & the Fantasmic Dining Pkg, one for Liberty Tree Tavern for Lunch and Trails End Buffet for Dinner on the next day. We also get two snacks and refillable mugs for everyone. I received a response, I guess I didn't email my member #, so I emailed them back that and the orginal email. I just don't have even 10min. of quiet to call and get this done, so if they can do it by email that is great.

Received my confirmation email that our trip has been segmented, took a few days longer then I thought. It was because I didn't give them my member # in the 1st email. Once they had that it took less then 24hrs. Very easy, no worries about getting a CM on the phone who doesn't know how to do it and having to call back.

To segment your reservation to add dining plan, was there a special tab on the member website with a prepopulated form, or did you just go to contact member services and send a general email message? Also, just to clarify, you do not need to change rooms, but you will need to recheck in and get new keys issued, correct? Also, do you need to recheck in on the back end as well, once your dining plan days are over for new keys then too or do the points just expire on the existing card? I am thinking we might do this for an upcoming stay. Thanks

There was no special tab. I just sent me email with the information and told them I was thinking of adding dining at a later time.

We were told that I would have to go down to get new keys on the day the plans kicked in but would not need them once the plans expire.

Thanks, I am thinking of doing this. We would have the dining plan the first few days of our trip, so maybe I would not even need to get new keys as the ones when I first check in would have the dining plan on them and then the credits would just expire at midnight following the last day we were on the plan. This is a great new option for us to hit a few favorite restaurants, but not feel tied to ADRs the whole trip!!

We have a slit stay already so I just segmented the 1st day of our second resort. We are moving and have to check in that day and get room keys so it works out well. I think we will just be able to keep using the same keys and the credits will just expire at midnight the next day. We are using it for the Fantasmic Dinner Pkg, and for a buffet.

Can someone please explain to me how to segment a reservation. What is the process? Do I call member services and what do I tell them?

You can call or email them. Just tell them that you want to segment your trip so that you can possibly add the dining plan to some nights later on. If they tell you it can't be done or you have to cancel and rebook, ask them to put you with a supervisor or call back and get someone else.

You do have to check in/out or get new keys on the DDP days (though I heard that this has not always been the case), you do not have to move rooms.

We are doing a split stay in August and the first two nights are BWV. I just sent an email asking that they segment out night 1 from night 2 so that I can add the DxDDP for night one.

We are then moving to BLT and asked that they segment the first night there, from nights 2 and 3 because of the dining plan. I have since decided to only do it on the first night at BWV and none at BLT, but that could change. At least I have the option.

Good luck!

Thank You. We have a 8 night stay coming up in June at BLT and may try this because we do not want the dining plan for 8 nights.
