I'm coming here for encouragement from you folks because I know what a great community this is.
I've been trying to lose weight for a year now and I haven't been able to stick with anything. I've tried the exercise challenge here, I've tried WW, I've tried the Couch to 5K running plan and given up on them all.
The only thing I still love is the pool. The other day, one of the folks I swim with said I should join the Master's team that practices 3 nights a week. They swim for about an hour and also do dryland training, the workouts are coached so people can improve their strokes and their progress is measured.
I went to a meeting last night with the coach and watched part of the practice. I think I can keep up with them, but I'm a little nervous.
Should I swallow my fear and try anyway?

you can do it! i'm betting they would love to have a newcomer. your enthuaism will refresh them, i have felt that way walking with new powerwalkers. it's invigorating! and those 'pros' remember what it felt like to start, they will not belittle you, but they will encourage you!
