Trying on shoes with bare feet?

 I've never seen anyone try on shoes without the nylon things. They have them at all the stores around here.

There are boxes of nylons and bins of tennis socks at our stores. Frankly, it would skeeve me out enough to rethink buying shoes if I saw some unconsiderate person stick their nasty feet (yes, unwashed feet are nasty imo) in a pair of shoes and not buy them.

ewww - no, wouldn't try on shoes without socks/stockings - would use those disposable "bootie" things the store should provide - besides, you wouldn't really get a good "fit" without wearing whatever you'd be wearing with the shoes you're trying on - rambling here....

Do you really think that little nylon thing keeps all the sweat and stink in? It is like putting a strainer on. All the stink and sweat seeps immediately through. Not flaming but those nylons don't hermitically seal your foot.:cutie:

For the record, I do use the nylon things, but it does seem pretty ridiculous to think that they're going to stop the transmission of sweat, germs and odors. :scared:

What I really want to say on this thread, though, is: Come on, people, they're feet! :rotfl2:

Plus, when they have those nylon thingies, half the time I wonder how "fresh" those are too! I mean, ten people could have used them and put them back...

I wear socks only when trying on shoes I'll be wearing socks with, which for me is sneakers only. I wear sandals about 85% of the year and no socks wiht them. I hate socks and would never try on shoes wiht socks or nylons that I would be using wiht a bare foot. Doesn't bother me at all. Someone has to try them on right?

Are they disposable tennis socks? Are they brand new pair that you get to keep for free? Or do they get tossed back into the bin? If the latter, how's that any different than trying on shoes that someone else tried on in bare feet?

Plus....if you expect people to try shoes on with their socks on....are those socks not just as smelly and sweaty as a bare foot would be?

For those of you that think you should try on all shoes with disposable nylons, please tell me how you try on sandals. Especially flip flop type sandals. How in the world can you tell how it fits if you try them on with something that you wouldn't be wearing normally??? Not trying to be snarky, just trying to understand the rationale.

I agree- now trying on bathingsuits with no underwear- that is gross!:scared1:

They're both gross. Neither bathing suits or shoes should be tried on without something covering that part of the body. Both are just all-around, down & dirty nasty!!:scared1:

With shoes, it has nothing to do with the smelly part, it has everything to do with foot fungus!

Oh my gosh, you people are making me never want to go shoe shopping again. :scared:
I'm sorry but feet are disgusting ...doesn't matter what kind of fancy schmancy foot products people may have and use...feet will always be disgusting (with the exception of baby feet ;)).
I knew I should not have opened this thread, LOL!!

I've never seen anyone try on sandals with nylons on their feet. If you're buying sandals or flip flops I can't see how you can get the feel of the shoe if you're trying it with disposable nylons on.

I have a couple of pairs of boots that I wear maybe 4 times a year. The rest of the time I am in flip flops or sandals, even in the snow. I never try shoes on with the nylon things. I don't even wear tennis shoes to Disney. I don't like anything on the back of my foot. I will wear uggs, but again without socks. It's not that I hate socks it is just that they don't go with the shoes i am wearing.

I never really thought about it but to be honest wearing a pair of nylon things is like being barefoot so I don't see much difference.

I try them on barefoot too. But A) only when I've been wearing flip flops so my feet aren't sweaty, and B) I wash my feet before I go shoe shopping. I don't really see that the footies do all that much good in the way of "sanitation". The inside of the shoe is NO cleaner whatsoever from wearing a stupid nylon footie. Most places I've bought shoes don't even HAVE the nylon footies anymore, and frankly I think it's rude to call other people rude for not using them, ESPECIALLY when they're not even available. It's not the end of the world.....and also a bit naive to actually merrily go along thinking that no one is trying on shoes barefoot. I buy a lot of shoes at Kohl's. They have no footies available and I've seen 100's of people on different trips trying on shoes barefoot.

It doesn't bother me that other people's feet have been in them, heck I buy shoes at thrift stores so I KNOW they've been worn. I douse the inside with disinfectant and move happily on with life. Never gotten any kind of athlete's foot, or fungus or anything. I just don't "sweat" the small stuff.

:thumbsup2 I agree!! I have never seen anyone try on shoes without socks but now after reading this I am going to be grossed out thinking someones nasty dirty bare foot was in my footwear before I bought them!!
That is SO rude and inconsiderate of people to do that!

Well I guess that I am a very inconsiderate person because I dont ever try on any kind of shoes with socks on unless I will be wearing socks with those shoes.:scared1:  .
I try on my dress shoes my sandals and flip flops with nothing on. I am sorry but you cannot tell or see how a pair of flip flops are going to look with a big nylon stocking on your foot.
So for me I will stay inconsiderate and will not change.

Eww..I never thought of that before :scared:

Yesterday the family and I went to Kohl's to get new shoes for 3 of us. This thread kept going through my head! And I did see other people trying on shoes without socks!! I had never paid attention before. I was shopping for tennis shoes so had stuffed a pair of socks in my purse, because I was wearing sandals.

Me too! I went to Kohls the other week looking for sandals and flip flops and never once did I have a sock or nylon on my tootsies. Sorry folks!

Question for the sock/footie wearing crowd...

Do you wear a t-shirt underneath when you try on shirts?

Armpits are grosser than feet IMO.
