Trying not to get too excited

I am making my first "couple" trip in December with my SO following the death of my dh of 36 years (3 years ago). My SO (age 55) has never been to DW even though he has been to Orlando lots of times. Of course I want it to be super fun and parts of it romantic...problem is one of my best friends had this expectation in Jan of this year and the trip was a complete bust-her SO just didn't get it-they spent only about 1/2 days in the park and she was sorely disappointed. I believe my SO is kind enough to try to make it a great trip for me.

Since I know there are lots of singles on this part of the board, any suggestions for anyone else that has done this. I am already planning on not making it a "commando" trip and we are both more of the "go by the seat of your pants" type people so other than dinner for the Candlelight Processional, no reservations for sit down meals.

Would appreciate any help...good news is if this isn't a great trip to the World I have plenty of female friends that would be ready for a trip just about anytime.
