Trying new things, Wearing 13 layers… Magic in UK new 3/16

Joining in.

The view brought tears to my eyes. Beautiful.

So great gettting to meet Cat Cora and as someone said the brat pack.;)

I know what you mean about thinking you "know " them when really you have not even met. Glad you gave a shout out to them!

Can't wait to hear more.

Thanks for joining and :welcome:

That view was stunning... I still find myself drifting off there in my head. :cloud9:

It's so funny Talula. We do all this planning to make sure our families have a great time and they end up remembering something that was totally by chance. Sometimes you just can't create Magic......it just happens. again, so glad your DD got to meet Cat.

You are so right... no matter how much I planned and tried to make things perfect... nothing compared to the things that happened by chance. Coming up in my next installment, something wonderfully amazing happened to DD at Rose & Crown, just by chance or luck or whatever you call it. :wizard:

You are soooo right Jordan!! No amount of planning compared to seeing Kyle dance with Cinderella !!!!:cloud9:

SO sweet Rosie, I'm sure that's something you'll never forget.

Wednesday February 10th Continued…

We’d walked back along that beautiful path from the Studios to the Dolphin… I believe we popped into The Fountain to get DD a strawberry ice-cream since she didn’t get dessert earlier at lunch. I don’t know what they do to that ice-cream but it had the most intense strawberry flavor. It was very very good.

We weren’t in the room long when we started itching to head to Epcot. We showered and changed since we had a dinner ADR at Rose & Crown later in the evening. We set off on foot toward the International Gateway a little after 4PM. Another nice walk, past the Beach & Yacht clubs, before we knew it we were walking through the IG. We decided to head across the bridge toward France and loop around that way, since we didn’t have any real plans… it was nice to stroll. Soon we realized it was going to be a LOT more crowded in the WS than it had been at DS earlier that day.

The crowd was starting to get pretty thick, we felt like Salmon swimming up stream… it seemed everyone else was coming at us. :crowded: So we darted out of the crowd and stopped at the Outpost I believe to get DD’s face painted. It gave us all a nice little break. She loves to get her face painted, even though it usually just lasts the day before it starts to itch and bother her and I end up taking it all off.

With face painting done we set off to ride a Viking ship. Unfortunately the ride broke down just as we got in line.:headache: So we continued our swim upstream till we came to Mexico, ahhh Mexico and your glorious Margaritas! :lovestruc

We stopped and acquired a couple frozen Margaritas from the stand… although I prefer mine on the rocks… I have to get one frozen one per trip. We decided to head inside to check things out and see if we could get on this boat ride. It was quite busy inside, but we were able to browse around and watch some glass blowing while we finished our beverages, then finally we jumped on the boat. The ride is cute, and DD wanted to do it again, since there was no line, we did. I think I liked it better without Donald & friends though. :rolleyes1

We decided to head over to Future World and see if we could fit in a few things. TT’s wait time was way to long and DD was focused on Soarin… well of course we all know, there is no getting on Soarin at that time of day… but we walked over to appease her. We got to the kiosk with the wait times and Soarin was 110 minutes. She agreed not to wait, so we headed off to ride a clam and hopefully find Nemo. Mission accomplished Nemo back safe with his Dad, we decided to just walk around and observe the fish. We spent over an hour just walking from tank to tank watching the fish. It was so relaxing, just being there watching, not feeling the need to rush out to the next ride.

Finally decided we should start heading for the World Showcase. We did pop in to ride Figment since we’d never done that before. It was cute, probably won’t be a must do for us though. ;)

After the ride we were basically chased out of the pavilion by one CM… we had just come off the ride and literally this woman starts yelling at us and everyone around us, “The pavilion is closing please exit” over and over, and not in a friendly way. Another CM just kind of looked at us apologetically and shrugged.

We shrugged it off and headed for UK… we were excited about our R&C dinner, another first for us, and we knew we’d be able to watch Illuminations from the restaurant. So I walked up to check us in, and it seemed so busy, we took our beeper and headed for the pub. It was crazy in there, but we ordered our drinks and moved up against the wall. Well sure enough our beeper went off.

Just then a server is walking by and I ask her if there is another way to get to the podium, and she says “stay right here I’ll bring them to you.” That was great! Our hostess came through the restaurant grabbed us and led us to an outside table!! It was cold but there were heater elements above us so it was fine. I was psyched to be able to sit out side and have such a great view of Illuminations. :woohoo:

Our server brought us delicious warm rolls with butter, and then I started with a cup of the Potato Leek soup, and DH had the Apple & Stilton salad. Both were excellent. I actually wished I had ordered a bowl of the soup! For our entrees DH ordered the Surf & Turf, and I ordered the Grilled Pork Loin, DD had the kids pizza.

Continued Next Post

As soon as our entrees came out I started to notice a change in DD, she was looking tired and cold. I had her move over to the chair beside me, directly under the heater. She ate about ½ of her small pizza then laid down on my lap. I wasn’t going to force her to sit and eat, it was getting late, it had been a long day and she was freezing.

While DH & I were enjoying our meals, a CM came to the table and stopped and said… “Oh is she tired?” I told him we’d had a long day, and the cold was getting to her. He laughed a bit and kneeled down with a pen and paper and asked what her name was and how to spell it. I thought it was unusual, but had no idea why he’d want to know. He walked away with out further discussion. :confused3

So a few minutes later he comes back and asks if she’s sound asleep. I tell him, no she’s awake, just resting. So he starts to speak directly to her, and she sits up to talk with him. He tells her that he’s just had a phone call from Tinkerbelle, who was on the monorail, on her way to Epcot to start Illuminations for the evening. He tells her the monorail is stuck and they need someone to start Illuminations, would she be willing. She nods that she would, and he said he had a special magic lighted wand for her to use, and he’d be back to get her in a few minutes. She perked up considerably now. :Pixiedust:

He did in fact come back to get her and then took her right down next to the rail by the water, and he proceeded to give her instructions about using the magic wand, and how to start & direct Illuminations with it.

We just stood there and watched her intently listening to his every word, focused on this important job that lay before her. Soon enough the count down starts and he motions for her to snap the wand and “POOF” Illuminations begins. And he knelt there and directed her to move the wand left or right, up or down and the fireworks would follow the wand, it was amazing, he knew this show so well, he was one step ahead of the show, so when she moved the wand as he told her to, it was just as if she was directing the fireworks around the lagoon.

The smile on her face was a mile wide. It was amazing watching this man stop, and spend 20 minutes with DD, making her feel like the most important little girl in the whole wide world! DH & I just kept looking at each other, while watching this interaction, knowing this was that moment, the one that makes a vacation special, the one that you’ll never forget. :cloud9:

When the show was over and she shut the wand off for the night, he thanked her and told her how appreciative everyone was that she was there to step in to help them with the show. We thanked him profusely, and made our way back to our table to settle up with our server and get our sticky pudding to go.

While we were waiting on our check, the nice CM (Todd I believe his name was, I feel so bad, I can’t remember for sure if it was Todd or Tom) came back and brought her a thank you card signed by all the CM's.

WOW is all I can say, our dinner and experience at Rose & Crown was exceptional… The food was great, but this wonderful CM Todd made her night, probably made her trip, and gave all of us, this wonderful memory to treasure forever. :cloud9:

We settled up, grabbed our packaged up dessert and set of for the Dolphin. We were so cold we actually jumped on the boat instead of walking back. So on the boat ride I feel this warm weird feeling on my lap, and I’m like ewwwwww what is that… then I realize I had tipped up my dessert box, luckily it was in a plastic bag, and all the warm sticky goodness had run out and was now a big blob in the bottom of the bag. LOL Thankfully the bag contained it, and it wasn’t all over me. :sad2:

When we got back to the room, we all shared the dessert minus the sauce that I’m sure would have been delish if I hadn’t spilled it all. Even with out much sauce it was really really good!!

Finally we hit the sack, and though DH & DD were asleep almost instantly… I lay there and just watched the whole Rose & Crown Illuminations scene in my head over and over again, till I finally drifted off. :cloud9:

Up Next: Animal Kingdom and what was supposed to be our Coral Reef dinner.
