I keep a list of promo codes that I have come across over the years. Nothing special -- just an electronic text document that is organized into sections and subsections (hotels, airlines, car rentals, -- even some online shopping, but I am not too good about keeping online shopping up-to-date).
Anyway, was looking for a Hilton deal for a particular property....everything was coming up $$$, no matter what I tried -- booking sites, booking direct, ebates, etal.
So, I got out my code list and started at the bottom on the Hilton site (oldest codes at the bottom). Had a hit on a promo code I had not found to save much of anything for at least four years.
Ended up with a $277 king bed suite for $184, with free breakfast. Closest I could come by any other route was $224 for a regular room with one queen. Yes, I spent some 20 minutes on it, but, hey, nearly $100 savings.
So, keep those codes organized and handy....never know. Of course, YMMV, rates change constantly, so maybe, by the time I fed that code in, I may have saved even more with one of the methods I had tried earlier, etc., etc., etc.
