I'll be going to WDW in a brand new "hot"sportscar, and I'm worried that the Valet parker may be tempted to take a 'joy ride".
Can the area where the valet cars are parked at AKL be viewed easily?

I'm willing to bet that no valet parker would put thier job on the line for a one time joy ride.

We have stayed many times using valet with luxury cars, SUVs, sport cars, etc and have never even considered this possible.

If you are really worried do not use valet - use self parking.

If any of the valets aren't back to the front of the resort in 2 minutes somebody will be looking for them. Make a mental note of the mileage when you drop the car off and don't stiff the valet, I'm sure you'll be car will be ok.

The valet parking lot at AKL is not easily visible from the front of the resort. But as others said, I wouldn't think twice about it. No way are they going to take your car out for a ride.

I doubt very much if your's is the first sports car that they will have parked.

pollyanna, I just looked over some pics of the AKL resort map. If you get a standard view room on the Ostrich Trail, it looks like you could see your car at all times.

I usually just self-park, so I have no experience with valet service.

But it will most probably be the first 350Z that they've parked!
;)

(PS...*I* want to self park....my DH is insisting on using the valet)

No, don't count on it. I have seen several around here so they probably have made it to Orlando. I have seen the valets park $100,000 sports cars.

Use the Valet. At least you won't have some idiot parking next to you that would let their door swing wide open and give you one heck of a door ding.

Tom...

Those guy's out front see some pretty incredible things. While at the AKL last year they were telling us (while we waited for Valet) of a Middle Eastern prince that moved all of the furniture out of the presidential suite and had his moved in during his stay (showed up in trucks a few hours before him - all handled with care by Bell Services).

I also saw a Bently and a Masirati (sp?) in the WL valet at the same time in June among lesser notable cars. I'm sure your 350z is nice, but certainly no nicer than what they park every day.
Now, if you don't want anything parked next to it then you'd better park it yourself and be prepared to walk.

Just FYI. We were sitting on the monorail at the GF and we could see the valet area and they were backing the cars out of the spots and down the parking lot at a very fast speed (to fast for reverse). We saw more than one and one of them hopped the curb as they cut the corner in reverse. I guess it was shorter to back up than to go around the parking lot but I have never seen such a thing. I am glad we don't drive from California. They can bang up our rent a car.

matt...what a story!:)

(I'm just a tad worried....when I went to the dealer to have my old sprortscar appraised last week,I realized 2 salesmen took a "test drive" in it.)

Pollyanna,
While staying at BWV, we always valet park. One time our car came back with a very noticable biff on the front fender. Not a word was said by the valet folks. If we had not noticed, they would have let it go. We got the valet manager out there, and he took a report. It turns out it was indeed the valet parker's misdeed, in hitting a pylon.
So, two lessons. Always check your car when you get it back, and valet parking is not the same across site. We think CR has a totally great valet parking organization, whereas BWV does not, for a myriad of reasons. Slow, poor service, indifference, etc.
Just my two cents.

Hot as in stolen, or hot as been out in the sun too long?

Wow you must not see very many "sporty" cars where you are from. This 350z you are referring to has a base MSRP of $26,269. Now even if you upgraded to the track or touring style and added every possible option it still wouldn't break $40,000 (It would hover somewhere around $37,500). Not that I am belittling your "hot sports car" but I am willing to venture a guess that any place in the world that offers valet parking has parked a car worth more than $40,000. While to you this car might seem top of the line, the best, the hottest, the sportiest, you can rest assured that a valet driver will not think so. They have seen hundreds of cars worth more, faster, and sexier than your 350z. No valet parker will risk his job to go "joyriding" in a Nissan. I really hope you are joking with this post. If not...sorry.

Now if you had this car:

You might have cause to worry. Priced at $273,000, the all-new Lamborghini Murcielago holds the title as most expensive sports car sold in America.

Not every valet is careful. In May we caught some valet guys racing in the parking lot - one ran a stop sign, pulling across right in front of us at the BW trying to catch up to the other guy.

If I had a nice new car - no matter how much it cost - I'd take my chances with self-parking. Most people - you'd hope especially at WDW - are careful about other people's property, but certainly accidents happen everywhere.

Ever notice how valets are always the same population who are the biggest insurance risk? Young guys. Now if they had 30-50 year old women out there, they might not be as fast, but you'd probably have people taking better care of your property. LOL!

YOU APPARENTLY HAVEN'T DONE ANY RESEARCH ON THE 350Z-lol!
The beauty is the price of the car is reasonable-YET it *IS* as fast as many costing twice as much...and it IS one "hot, fine looking " car.

Appearantly you were asking a valid question. Sorry. I am sure you love your new "hot sporty car". It was just the way you were talking about it made it seem like it was something really spectacular that the valet drivers wouldn't be able to resist. I will grant you the fact that it is fairly a new item (being that it had to be pre-ordered and only became available in august - although I am willing to bet that some people could have gotten it earlier) and that the horsepower is adequate (287 at 6200 rpm) but you can get that in many cars these days with supercharged engines (granted not as cheap as your car is), and actually a lot of Japanese made sports cars have 280 hp these days (if not actually more because they only claim 280 b/c of a manufacturing agreement). I will agree that the price can hardly be beat for what you are getting in performance and power, but that hardly makes it a job-risking-joyride kinda car now does it? Yeah people will say - what a great car for the money, but soooo many other cars are out there that are far more recognizable as being "hot" that have much better horse power, top speeds that reach more than 200mph, and are considerably flashier. I mean think about it. Will a valet sit there and think..."wow this car has so much power AND is really cheap, lets take it for a spin"? I would think they would be more tempted by a higher sticker priced power house like a Ferrari, or a Lamborghini. Again I am not trying to knock your new car. I am sure it is great, I just wouldn't overly worry about it presenting too much of a temptation for valet drivers.

Didn't mean to offend you in any way. Please accept my apology.

I think the whole point is speed, not cost. I mean, you could drive a Rolls, but who would want to take it out for a spin?

You guys are kiling me! How in the world do you fit all your stuff into a sports car while on vacation anyway?

When we pulled into AKL earlier this year I thought I would die of embarassment when half of our stuff fell out when we lifted the rear gate.

Just wondering.

Sam
