"Tropical Storm Gaston sloshed ashore in South Carolina Sunday with near hurricane-force wind, spinning sheets of rain that flooded roads as the storm knocked out power to thousands of people.
Gaston made landfall near McClellanville, a small fishing village that was walloped by Hurricane Charley earlier this month when it came ashore for a second time after devastating southwest Florida. "
The small fishing village (300 persons) is where SSB grew up and still has family.
AND>...... guess where Hurricane Hugo made landfall....? Same place.... McClellanville/Cape Romain ... just north of Charleston, We lost both of our houses in that one as was just horrific what it did to my town. Huge oak trees that I had climbed as a kid were uprooted, and the forest that surrounded us was leveled like matchsticks ... just mashed down to the ground by the wind and tidal surge.
Hoping this much, much smaller storm not causing too much damage... but truly amazing how many times that it has hit here.
