What is UP with this...? I mean, the other day I was looking at my sister's Popstar magazine, and it was like, "Only For True JB Fans".

And a while ago on another forum, these girls were dissing me for not being a "true" Panic At The Disco fan, just because I didn't like AFYCSO but I love Pretty. Odd.

When did this "true fan" thing come into play? It's stupid. How can you be any less a fan of something than someone else? How do you judge it?

Just stupid.

Beats me.
I think if you like something you are pretty much a true fan.

But there are some people out there who are obsessed fans about things.
*coughkaylacough*
It isn't heathy, people.
Not healthy at all.

uuggghh
that annoys me to no end
i don't get it
and the whole "i'm a better fan than you" thing
:sad2:

I think Im a little bit beyond true..

But if you're a fan, you're a fan.

Or a crazed obsesser. :D

The dose of Freddie Mercury is ALWAYS healthy. :hyper:

The only time that you aren't a true fan is if you only pretend to like something.
Or if you only know one song by a band, let's say MCR. That song would probably happen to be Welcome to the Black Parade. So like, then they know that song and go around declaring themselves MCR's biggest fan.

I know that song, I own that song... I like the song, sometimes. It makes me cry so I don't listen to it often...

The reason I started to cry whenever I hear it is because I was listening to music trying to fall asleep a few nights after my dog died, and I put on that song, and listened, and started to cry...

I'd never cried before, listening to it O_o

So I don't listen to it much anymore.

But what I've just said is so totally :offtopic:

So so that this post isn't a total loss, I understand what you mean with your last comment :)

I hate that, A A. So I'm not the #1 fan of Rascal Flatts or Simple Plan. Hey, people can say that just cause I don't have any of Simple Plan's CDs they could say I'm not a fan. I know tons of their songs. One of their songs was on the Scooby Doo soundtrack, if I'm correct. I'm planning on buying their newest CD as soon as I can. You don't have to own all of an artist's CDs to be a fan, IMO.

No, you don't need to have all of an artist's cd's.
No, you don't need to know all the lyrics to every song.
No, you don't need to declare yourself "Mrs. (insert last name of singer)"

But people who, say, buy a band's merch but don't know the band bother me. It happens mostly with Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, etc. It's a trend to wear the shirts, but they don't bother learning the music they advertise.

How dare Pink Floyd hae such a cool logo and music that I don't like, at the same time?

I never thought of that before..

I would argue that that those people accusing others of not being "true" fans are the ones not being true, because they're spoiling the fun of being a fan for others. That's not what being a fan is about, and especially not what being in a fandom/bandom is about. :/

::yes::

And you don't need to have to have seen the whole, entire series, or read each and every book, or memorized every minuscule little detail about the characters. And what I really hate is when people think that you have to fit a certain mold or think a certain way to belong in a given fandom. That's just silly. Why can't we just have fun and enjoy being a fan without the ridiculously uptight, stringent people stomping all over everyone else's interest because they don't consider them 'on the same level' as theirs? That just ruins it for me.

That's pretty stupid, I agree. It isn't hard at all to find their music; listen to some songs on YouTube, find a greatest hits CD, and go deeper if you find you really like the music. That kind of trendiness means nothing if you don't actually care about the band. :confused3

The people who call themselves True Fans are the people who switch from one popular band to another. Like they go from The All American Rejects to Fall Out Boy to Maroon 5. They don't care for anything besides trying to be the best fan until a new band comes out with a good sounding single and then they leave for them. So the real true fans are the ones who sit back and laugh at those little girls and boys who go to the concerts painted and wearing all the weird clothing.

Sheep, I tell you.

(He's a guy. Lol. One of the three guys I know of that listen to Panic. XD )

Alison- Want to know why i started listening to Simple Plan? I heard one of their songs on Scooby Doo. I think a few of their songs might be on there actually. The one i remember is you don't mean anything to me.

To be honest these people who class themselves as true fans are either fake or obsessed.

Oh and DisIm I hate most songs on Pretty.Odd and love AFYCSO
