Hello all! I'm new to the DIS boards and have gleaned a ton of valuable information from all of you!

We booked a trip in Jan. for our family to visit WDW in Sept. With the recent FT vacation packages out, we decided to add a few days to our trip, since it shouldn't cost us anymore than airfare change charges. We were quoted a price from our AAA travel agent that was $500 less than we were already paying for two fewer nights, including $400 in airline service charges for changing our tickets. Since we were now staying over a Saturday night, our tickets were supposed to go down $400. Well, when it was time to make the final changes, Disney increased the price by $376, saying we couldn't change class of service. In essence, we are paying our previous ticket prices plus the $400 change penalty. Needless to say, I didn't want to take a chance that my kids would miss out on their first ever Disney trip, so I said okay.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how we might get part of this dropped? I am fully aware that I have to pay change fees, but feel I should be able to take advantage of the much lower fares.

TIA for any help!

Packages IMHO makes you at the mercie t the TA...My guess would be that if you had booked independently you would be OK but the fact that you have a TA involved all the prices may change...Have you booked this separately to see if the change inprice would be worth the charge for canceling a TA ressie...

This is a risk on a package deal. They package operation generally can't go down on the class of service and get a fare reduction to pass on to you. That is the same problem you run into when you book thur some online TAs. The package you quoted from AAA was a whole new package, not just a change. I think you are out of luck.

Thanks for the feedback. That's what I thought, but figured it wouldn't hurt to check. I'll know for next time not to book airfare with my hotel ressie!

Thanks again!
