Trouble Booking Values with Free DDP in Sept? I may know why

I think most of us are just a bit frustrated at the lack of availability at any Value, except All Star Sports in Sept. I was browsing allears and noticed that Sept 7th and 8th, there is a HUGE christian music event. Plus there's the given that it's a weekend. It wouldn't surprise me if that weekend is what is hampering most of our plans for longer stays at better Values plus crappy Magic Kingdom hours.

I played with Disneys booking engine, and sure enough, the 7th-9th are the dates giving me no availability for ASMu, POP, ASMo.

The event really isn't that HUGE, especially since it's a hard ticket event, and crowds don't even pick up in the park till late afternoon. Most visitors are locals, especially youth group, but only a portion of them actually stay on site. I'm sure there are travelers that are coming that weekend for the event though... but I'm not aware if it has sold out or not...

Yes, it very well could be a factor in that weekend, but the bottomline is that MOST dates, not just that weekend, are sold out for this promotion. I remember booking on the day it was released to Disney Visa Cardholders and by 9am, most dates at Pop Century and Movies were sold out. I don't even think a standard room at movies was even offered to begin with.

Disney offered a very limited amount of rooms for this promotion, and with it being in it's3rd year, the demand was apparently higher than the supply.

Also there's a pin event in Sept but I can't recall the dates. I think guests booking the pin event were offered the chance to choose a moderate resort with a discount ( room only ) but that would not have affected the value resorts or the free dining promo room allotment. I too think it's just the popularity of the value resorts. I figure ASSports is open because the feature pool is having a refurb and all the rooms there won't be completed with the refurb til November. ---Kathy

Keep trying to get a budget resort!

When I booked 3 weeks ago no budgets was open booked at POFQ, the next day called back an got AsSports called back the 3rd time and got POP.
