If you have stayed at the Tropicana Inn & Suites across the street from DLR, I would love to hear from you. Have you ever made a room request there? I'm thinking I would like an upper floor near the front of the resort if possible. What would you suggest from your experience? We will have a room with 2 queen beds. Thanks!

We like the upper floor near the front on the side opposite the office. (I believe that would be the south side if I have my directions straight in my head). From there, you have a great view of the fireworks and you are very close to the park.

We are looking at booking Tropicana, have never been there before so very interested in people's views of the hotel. We often stay at Fairfield but Tropicana is so much cheaper for our stay I don't think I can justify Fairfield.

We just got back from Tropicana about 3 weeks ago! Very clean, very quiet(except for a few kids running to their room) and very convenient to the parks! We were able to walk back for an afternoon rest or to change clothes for the night because it was so close! This was our second stay in about 15 months. While we didn't make any requests this time, they put our 3 groups within a couple rooms of each other so that was nice. Last year we requested rooms that were connecting and they were able to do this even though we only asked upon arrival. We always felt very safe and the valets always greeted us when we passed by(even though none of us had a car to park). Our rooms this time were on the second floor across from the office and we had a nice view of fireworks from our window or stepping out to the balcony.

We loved our stay, Very clean, close and the staff were great. We stayed on the upper floor and it was nice and quiet.

We are thinking of staying here for our first DLR visit next May! I will have an ECV with me, is there an elevator to the 2nd or 3rd floor? Also, wondering if the rooms have balconies? I've not heard anyone ever mention balconies in any posts I've read about the Tropicana. Also, this pics of the outside looks like the rooms have balconies, but any pics I've seen of the inside of rooms don't show a balcony, looks just like a front door and a regular window with the curtains. Sounds nice so far, any more comments are appreciated! Oh, also, do the rooms have ceiling fans, or a fridge? TiA!

I believe by balcony, the poster was referring to the outside corridors that go past the rooms. That's where you will see people out watching the fireworks at night.

And yes, there are elevators that go up to the 2nd and 3rd floor. No ceiling fans but they do have fridges, microwaves and safes. We stayed there in August and are headed back on Sunday for a few days. It is nothing fancy and there is no breakfast, but it is clean and the staff is friendly and that is all I ask for when I'm spending all day in the parks.

As far as breakfast goes, I've kind of decided I hate continental breakfasts anyway since I always eat less healthy than I otherwise would. If no danish, donuts or muffins are put in front of me, I have no desire to eat them. But I can't resist them if they are in front of me. We always just bring our usual cold cereal and milk with us or McDonalds is just a few doors down if we need something hot.

Actually, there are a few proper balconies at the front of the hotel. The rooms that have the windows facing Harbor and the park do have balconies. I stayed in one last year, it was a one bed king room located directly over the office. Take a look at the picture on their website.

As for the OP's question about making room requests, you should call the hotel directly and put in your request. They will try to accommodate you if they can. Last year I was a single female travelling solo so I asked for a room up front close to the office and they gave that to me. Last month we asked for a room on the 3rd floor, but got the 2nd floor. We were lucky and didn't have anyone noisy above us.

I would definitely stay here again.

We were on the 3rd floor towards the back of the property. It was so quiet, which I was worried about because it's so close to the intersection but it was very nice. We had two queens... we brought granola bars and bananas from home for breakfasts along with a half gallon of milk for LO (I brought a couple tea bags or grabbed a Sbux coffee at DLR). No ceiling fans and yes to fridge.
