Tell me what you think of it. If you've stayed there, what did you like/dislike about it? Does it have an elevator? I'm just getting ideas for next summer's trip. Many have suggested Howard Johnson, and I've stayed there a few times, but next summer my DS will be 3 and I don't think he'll care for the play structure at the pool quite yet.

It's my favorite Harbor Blvd hotel to stay at -- it's pretty much one hotel over from the crosswalk, so no dodging driveways/cars walking from HoJo. The rooms were (relatively) recently refreshed and clean. I did not see an elevator on my side of the hotel, but others have reported there is one (far in a corner, apparently). The convenience mart is... convenient (but expensive).

We were there a month ago and we loved it, suited us perfectly as a family of 5. Here are some of my positives and negatives...

Positives

1) Clearly the #1 reason to stay here is how close you are to the parks. I timed myself from my room, crossing Harbor (caught the traffic light as it turned red), going through security and making to the Disneyland Esplanade took literally 5 minutes!!! Perfect to leave the parks early afternoon and go to the hotel to relax for a nap or swim in the pool.

2) My #2 favorite thing, you can clearly see the Disneyland fireworks! On the first floor, you got like a 60% view but if you take the steps or elevator to the 3rd floor ( The Cove side, opposite the reception desk), you had clear perfect view. Family next to us put on the Mickey's Mix Magic music from YouTube onto their speakers and they timed it perfectly with the music and fireworks in sync.

3) As I stated as a family of 5, the room fit us perfectly. Two Queen beds and the sofa converts to a twin bed that my son loved.

4) The Cove is a cool little mini-mart and has a lot of essentials, drinks, snacks and coffee.

5) Laundry Machine and Dryer onsite, so makes it convenient if staying for longer trips

6) Pool area looks weird, in the middle of the parking lot but it wasn't that bad once you're in there with the fencing. Definitely used the jacuzzi to soak my feet each night after a long park day.

7) Very clean updated rooms. I think they recently renovated all the interior rooms 2-3 years ago.

Negatives

1) It didn't bother my family but I'm a light sleeper and the outside noise kept me awake till about midnight. It's a motel style horseshoe layout, so sound carries. Most of it was as families came back from parks and either discussed how their days went or making plans for tomorrow. We were on the first floor, so maybe ask for a 2nd or 3rd floor room to help with the noise level that we got on the first floor.

2) Parking is crazy there. Luckily we did a one way rental from LAX to Disney, so didn't need to park a car but if you are planning too, it is a bit of a mess. Make sure you check in with the parking attendant when you first get in there near the reception area.

That's about it, we'd definitely stay again and all the positives outweighed the negatives.

Feel free to ask any questions about the place.

Sounds like a great place. I'll definitely consider staying there due to the location.

I'm staying there in November, it looks like a great hotel. Over the years I've heard very good things about it from various people. Also, I've been in contact with them via email about room layouts etc and their customer service has been wonderful. I have a stay booked with them for next summer, too.

Here's a recent thread about Tropicana. The title says Family Suite, however there's discussions about rooms there in general as well.

Addressing your question as far as having a 3yo there, if it's 1-2 adults plus the 3yo, their King rooms are great! It has a little pull-out chair/bed that our grandson adored, and we could see the fireworks outside of our window (in pajamas, which was WONDERFUL!).

Thanks for the info, but there will be me, DH and our three children.

I think the best thing about Trop is the lack of noise coming from Harbor. When we've stayed on the 3rd floor, we've heard no road noise at all. (After staying just about everywhere on Harbor, I'd say the road noise is the absolute worst at Hojo).

The worst thing about Trop is the parking. They don't have enough parking for guests, yet they offer paid parking to the general public and then have valets attempt to fit cars into every square inch of the parking lot.

I love Tropicana. We've stayed there many times and when I called to reserve(pre-Covid...haven't stayed since reopening) they usually offer a return visitor rate that was compared to their AP rate. For a motel the beds have always be super comfortable. As others have mentioned the only outside noises is when other guests ate walking past returning from the parks after us or in the morning on the way to the parks. As for parking, if you can't find your own spot, valet will park for you at no extra charge. Usually we just do valet so we don't have to even worry about it.

Thanks so much for posting this video! I can't wait to stay there :)

We stayed here earlier this year when the parks weren’t open yet. We really enjoyed our stay. We can totally see how the parking lot could be nuts when the motel is full. Cannot beat the walk to the parks! Here’s a video of our room, hope that helps!
