Tropical Storm Gaston, Hurricane Frances

Just wanted to give an update on these two storms and to ask for prayers and pixie dust for those affected.

TS Gaston has come ashore in South Carolina about 30 miles south of Charleston. Dumping a LOT of rain and at this point at least 75,000 homes without power.

Hurricane Frances is still in the Caribbean, but the path in terms of landfall is still undetermined. It is already a Category 4 storm and they expect more strenghthening.

I know we have some DIS'ers in the South Carolina area....hope you are safe and well and feel free to correct or add to my 'report'.

SATELLITE IMAGES INDICATE THAT THE LOW PRESSURE AREA LOCATED ABOUT
360 MILES SOUTHEAST OF CAPE HATTERAS NORTH CAROLINA CONTINUES TO
BECOME BETTER ORGANIZED. IF THIS TREND CONTINUES...ADVISORIES WILL
BE INITIATED LATER THIS AFTERNOON. THIS SYSTEM IS MOVING
NORTHWESTWARD NEAR 10 MPH.


So that is yet another storm off of the Carolina's coast

Most of us still don't have our nerves back to gether, and they tel us THIS!!!!!!

And to top it all off they expect Frances to hit the Bahamas by Fri. and then Florida Look Out!!!

The first year I moved down here from Canada, I had been here about 7 months, when Hurricane Betsy hit us dead on during my first labor day week end here... It was horrible, scared us to death...when the wind was blowing at the house, it took 5 of us leaning on the front door so it would not blow open...then the eye went over, and the wind came from the other direction..we thought for sure the glass sliding doors would bow till they popped...and we had everything boarded up outside..

Soooooooo....I hope everyone will understand if ..or when..Frances makes landfall, and heads our way....I am taking off to visit my relatives in......Canada!!!!! anyone care to join me????

Donna.. since I will be down there when Frances hits (if it comes that way)... can I help you duct tape everything down?? We can start with Spaceship Earth, then I think we ought to get those spires on the castle, then I say that the Sorcerors Hat looks a little shaky and of course the Tree of Life. How long do you think it will take to tape down each of those leaves?

I think we need help!!

Y'all are welcome to come on up here to Indiana for a visit! Heck, we'll even let Eddie sleep inside the house! (It might be the floor for him, though, depending on his behavior!)

Lauri you are right.....I do have a ton of duct tape left...even have some in colors.. and you certainly can't do it alone...so I guess I will stay....after all, having done it once, should be a breeze (haha play on words.)....sooooo pack an extra slicker, and prepare to duct WDW... I think this time I'd better have a different plan for the castle.. so get lots of rest...and come prepared to tape, tape, tape....

More volunteers would be appreciated...

We'll be driving southbound on I-95, from Maryland to Florida on Wednesday night, September 8th. We'll be happy to tape down anything we see flying norhtward!

But as I told Ed only a couple weeks ago, once the porch door blows by, and you see the old lady on the bicycle . . . it's time to head for the cellar! Oh, I forgot. You guys in Florida don't have cellars. Uh oh. You need a <b>Plan B.</b> Or maybe a plan <b><i>F -- for Francis.</b></i>

Los Angeles sure does look nice right now - why oh why did I come home today ? LA was warm, sunny, blue skies, nice breeze, no humidity ... I came home to heat & humidity & possible rains from hurricanes coming our way ... something is wrong with this picture !
