Tropical Storm Claudette was suppose to turn to the west all weekend. First, Claudette was suppose to hit south of Brownsville and then at Corpus Christie and then Matagorda Bay. As a rule of thumb, if a hurricane hits the Texas coast south of Corpus Christi, then Houston will not get much rain from the storm. Now it appears that Claudette is headed to south of Houston and so no matter what we will get a great deal of rain. We will be on the wet side of the storm.

Two years ago, Allison caused some horrible flooding here in Houston. We were at WDW during most of Alliison but flew back during the night of some horrible flooding. We were very lucky and had no damage due to the flooding. I still remember hearing about a paralegal at a major downtown firm getting trapped in the elevator in the underground parking garage and drowning.

Houston DISers, please be careful. It is going to get wet and there will be some flooding.

My son called me earlier and told me the storm looked like it was headed for Houston, or at least near enough to cause that nasty flooding.

I hope the storm passes by and just goes out to sea.

Yeah, I'm a wreck right now.

They're going to decide tomorrow morning (6-ish) if they're going to tell us to stay home. I'm hoping they do. I'm toying with staying home anyway. It'll depend on how things look tomorrow morning. But I'm really nervous about this one. I know I'll be fine if I can just stay home, but I don't know if I want to waste 8 hours of time away to stay home. Or even just 4.

My new friend lives in Galveston. I have a feeling I will be worrying about him alot!! :(

Thinking about all those DISers on that side of town, especially you Rajah...

Now they're saying that it could turn into a Cat 1 hurricane by tonight. :(

And the stupid company is still in a "wait and see" about whether we have to come in to work tomorrow or not.

I am suppose to drive to Beaumont tomorrow for a meeting. I doubt that I will be making that trip. There are too many places where it floods on I-10 between Houston and Beaumont.

Hang in there Houston! New Orleans took a hit from Bill, and it looks like we will feel the impact of Claudette, but not as much a you. Stay dry and/or build a boat.

I wouldn't go.

We are scheduled to leave for WDW on Wed. We are keeping our fingers crossed that IAH doesn't shut down.

I feel bad for Corpus, too. They seem to get hit so hard when those storms go through there.

We may still get some rain out of it, but looking at the radar, we should be pretty good here.

I remember being stuck on 45 for hours when Alison first came through. Seeing all of the cars being washed off of the highway was pretty scary.

I'm supposed to fly out to Orlando first thing Wednesday morning (to find an apartment and audition for a job - yay!) so I as well am concerned about the weather. I don't want to have to wade my way over the IAH - would it be smart to hole up in a hotel room by the airport tomorrow night?

be careful Houston DIS'ers.Last summer had got me worried with the storm

Apnic - that's a tough call but hopefully wed. morning wont be so bad but I'm such a worrier I probably would get a hotel. Good luck.

She's coming in a little faster than was predicted, right? It's raining and very windy at my house (Westchase area). We all have a long, long day ahead of us.
On a side note, Continental was going to waive the "change flight" fee, but charge me the fare difference if I were to try to leave earlier. That came out to over $300!! I said "No way!"
