Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but it appears that the 2005 hurricane season is starting sooner than expected. WKMG Local 6 in Orlando is reporting that Tropical Storm Adrian is forming in South America and is moving north east at about 40 mph. According to Chief Meterologsist Tom Sorrels "storms in the pacific usually do not impact Florida and the carribbean as most of the time they head west. This is a little different and tracks the storm to be over the Bahamas by noon time Sunday." Ofcourse by then Adrian expected to only be a depression when it passes the Bahamas.

I'm need to get a refresher with my maps but I do believe the Magic will feel some effect from Adrian. I hope everyone has a safe trip if you are traveling this weeek with Disney Cruise Line.
Good luck to everyone traveling on DCL

Hi we live here too. Still getting repairs from our friends Charlie, Frances and Jeanne. Boy I just feel so cheery after the 15-20 year predictions Don't you?Maybe we SHOULD invest in one of the automatic generators.

I really don't think Adrian is going to pan out to more than a hard thunderstorm. I sailed through something simular a few years back on my Western Cruise. Because the land mass that he has to pass over is so mountainous I really think he will break apart crossinf Central America.

For those of you that do live in the Central Florida area there is no time like the present to start gearing up for a busy season. I already have purchased my generator and have started getting supplies, non-perishable foods, batteries, ect. Again let's hope for a safe sailing and hurricane season for all of us.

We live in Melbourne and are not ready to hear the word hurricane. There are soooo many houses that still have not been touched since the hurricanes last year. We have all our supplies and my parent's generator will be here next week. We are set but thinking and praying for the people that still have not had any repairs yet. So sad!

I will be on the Wonder this Sunday.I can't believe this! We picked May to travel to avoid the hurricanes. This is my first time cruising and I am really nervous about it. Well I hope bonine works!

Geez, early start no matter what happens. I heard on the news that the Atlantic waters are all ready pretty warm, warmer than usual I believe is what was said. Here we go again. LOL

Tami, I know, I can't believe how many roofs still need repairs. Luckily my mom's was just recently finished, and one of our friends is having his repaired right now.

Edited to add: The Pacific is also warm enough to create a hurricane. WHAT FUN.

So this year not only we have to worry about the ones that are created in the Atlantic, but also now in the Pacific? :rotfl2:
Actually I also saw Mike (something) on WESH and funny how they all just jump on this story and hype it so much. I prefer to watch Gregg on WOFL (Fox), he was the best during the huricanes last year. No panic causing news, just plain and simple what to expect and how long. Didn't sugar coat it or blew it out of proportion.
Yes, slowly but surely blue tarps are being replaced by shingles. I hope everyone has at least the roof fixed before the weather starts acting up on us.

The Pacific Hurricane Season starts on May 15. So, looks like it's right on
track!!

Having moved to the Midwest this past year I am more petrified of tornadoes at this point, lol.

Often times the ships are able to circumvent the hurricanes and other storms so as not to disrupt the sailing. Hopefully there was enough warning with this one so they will have a good plan in place. Good luck to them!

Hey CarolAnnC, as a native of Dallas in the tornado belt, I highly recommend a NOAA weather radio that automatically turns on and send out an audible alarm if you are in a watch or warning area. Welcome to the Midwest. Considering the amount of space in the middle of the country, you're really very unlikely to get hit by a tornado. Is just that when one does hit it can be devasting in a short period of time.
