Tropical Palms Resort...

Hi! We've stayed there several times over the past 17 years - the most recent time being three months ago. It will be the LAST time we ever stay there and we let them know it. They didn't care. :confused3 The resort changed ownership (used to be family owned) a few years ago and everything seems to have gone downhill from there. The staff was rude, the cottage was filthy and full of ants. There were ants everywhere. They have done zero maintenace to the cottages since we stayed there in 1999 for our honeymoon. They are actually getting out of the cottage rental business and are trying to sell them off to the public at the most ridiculous price you could imagine. They have a new section set up with newer rentals, but they are privately owned.

By the looks of your link and name of it, the resort has either changed ownership again or someone is trying to rent their own "cottage" as a sublet. If that's the case, you may be getting a brand new cottage and things will be fine. If you are renting from Tropical Palms themselves, then you will be renting a dive. Trust me. I'd ask how old the cottage is that you're renting.

Old Town has gone down the tubes as well. Many of the shops have closed. It was practically a ghost town. We were so disappointed.

I hope this has helped some. I wish you all the best!

WE have stayed there more times than I can count always loved it --until recently. We rented for three nights last summer and it was disgusting. Mold everywhere, the shower was held together with tin foil and the baseboards in all rooms were crumbling, the gas kwept goimg out and so on. We complianed and were met with little but an "oh well". When I spoke with the manager directly he was nice but we could not even get a discount on our room because we already had the best discount possible(they said). THey sould have given us a free night or something. It has changed ownership and is now a timeshare place, newer units arte on the opposite side. They are rentable but you can see that they are more costly. I too would be sure that you are getting iatimeshare unit and not an old run down shabby shack. The newer units are actually listed on both of my timeshare companies RCI AND INTERVAL and are listed as hospitality places.
