So, they just named tropical depression 6, tropical storm Florence. :guilty: I am getting a little worried. I hope that it goes north next week and steers clear of Florida. I am going to be doing a lot of praying.

I know.... We are going the week after you but as of now, it pretty much looks like it's going to hit for one of us! I am trying to think about it as a minor quirk in my week. (It's not like we can do anything about it anyway!!) Because even if it does come, it will only last a day or two of rain, right? Apparently that bring out the animals at AK and the locals stay at home! There's enough to do at each resort for a day and ride out the bad part.
Evacuation would be the only really stinky thing (no free dining!!) but I guess that would only be for a day or two.

I've always wanted to go to WDW during a TS! Think of how empty the parks would be!!! (that's if the storm isn't bad and they are open)

I hope Florence stays away and goes into the Atlantic! Wouldn't that be nice?!

The one thing I am worried about is if they ground planes. I have our trip planned out so well, and I want to be able to arrive when I'm scheduled to arrive.

I can handle a lot of rain, though it would be nice to have good weather for MNSSHP on 9/15. It would be a shame to miss the parade and HalloWishes if it rains. Otherwise, we can tackle the parks OK in the rain as long as it's not bad enough that there are strong winds.

It's too soon to tell what Florence will do. I'm going to keep an eye on it and will hope for the best--that it'll stay out in the ocean. There is a chance that it'll keep heading NE and won't affect us at all.

My husband is logged on to a program that tells him each tropical storm as it forms. There are 7 now out there. That is just crazy. He is more worries about the weather.

It's a big planet, and WDW is just a tiny little chunk of it. The math is still in our favor.

WDW may be a tiny chunk of the big planet, but I don't see TS Florence heading to another part of the planet.... ;)

Anyway, I'm not too worried about my flight or anything...the only thing I'm keeping an eye on is for MNSSHP. I'd hate for that to be rained out.

O.k. looking at the current model, it is heading in a north/west directions taking it away from Disney up to the Carolina's. We (my dh & I) think it will head back to sea.

Not one storm from 1853 to current has hit the mainland from were Florence is now.

I think we are going to be o.k.

They have the thought it will curve and miss possible land fall altogether. Too early to tell just yet.

But just a note they are also watching the distrubance behind it pretty close.

There are numberous disturbances at any given time out there, but they will usually only comment on those that look possible for development.

Example:

This is from today-they are speaking of 3 "areas" including Florence. Just be watchful.

TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS TPC/NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER MIAMI FL
1130 AM EDT TUE SEP 5 2006

FOR THE NORTH ATLANTIC...CARIBBEAN SEA AND THE GULF OF MEXICO...

THE NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER IS ISSUING ADVISORIES ON RECENTLY
UPGRADED TROPICAL STORM FLORENCE...LOCATED ABOUT 935 MILES EAST
OF THE LESSER ANTILLES.

A BROAD AREA OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS OVER THE WESTERN BAHAMAS
AND FLORIDA REMAINS DISORGANIZED...AND SIGNIFICANT DEVELOPMENT IS
NOT EXPECTED. HOWEVER...BRIEF PERIODS OF LOCALLY HEAVY RAINFALL AND
GUSTY WINDS WILL BE POSSIBLE ACROSS THESE AREAS AND ADJACENT WATERS
FOR THE NEXT DAY OR SO.

SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS ASSOCIATED WITH A TROPICAL WAVE LOCATED
SEVERAL HUNDRED MILES WEST OF THE CAPE VERDE ISLANDS HAS CONTINUED
TO BECOME BETTER ORGANIZED. ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS APPEAR
SOMEWHAT FAVORABLE FOR A TROPICAL DEPRESSION TO DEVELOP DURING THE
NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS AS THE SYSTEM MOVES WESTWARD AT ABOUT 10 MPH.

We drove through Hurricane Ophellia last year......whoa....talk about rain and wind!
