Hi First post,
Planning my first vacation as an adult to Disneyworld in January. looking at what attractions are coming and I am most excited for the Tron Rollercoaster. I know it was originally planned to open before the 50th anniversary celebration but covid happened. I am have looked around and haven't found a opening date. Do you all think it will be open before my trip mid January?

Welcome to the DIS!

Impossible to say, really. A lot of unknowns at this point, so anything is really just a guess. But I hope it works out for you!

Unfortunately, I doubt it. Disney hasn't given any update on when it's scheduled to open, but looking at how much is done and how much is left, most people are guessing Spring or Summer of 2022.
Well I start praying to the disney gods that it is done sooner

I'll be surprised if they have it open by the end of the 50th. Guardians of the Galaxy should be open before then, but Tron was basically mothballed for months to the point they sealed the access point on the building and called it good. It's only been in the past couple of weeks they've picked up the internal work again.

I rode Tron in Shanghai DL and it is amazing! I hope it opens before your trip!

For selfish reasons I hope it isn't. We'll be there then too, but I'd rather have skip the chance to ride it then deal with the more crowded parks. In 2019 I picked Jan 2021 for low crowds, that was postponed a year. I know it will be a LOT more crowded because of Revenge Travel, but I'd rather not have the new ride crowds added.

I have no inside information, but I wouldn't be surprised waited to open the Tron coaster to be simultaneous with some event or party or something like that during the 50th celebration. It is an 18-month celebration and I could see WDW simply waiting to open an attraction with some other announcement during the 50th. Sort of like the new Rat ride in EPCOT. It was delayed so long that they decided to open it along with the 50th anniversary celebration. It's like WDW saying we've delayed this attraction so long that you'll think this is a great new shiny object we wanted to have ready in time for our latest celebration party.

It make me chuckle.

Doubtful. They don't have the outside canopy up yet. They just moved pieces out to start working on some of the inside work. It was reported (no idea if correct), that they had not filmed the video for the ride areas. Hoping by summer.

I expect the opening of Tron, Guardians, and Star Wars resort will all be spaced out during the 18 months of the 50th celebration.

This is tron from last Wednesday. I’d say more than 6 months of work left….

Is it just my imagination, or was Velocicoaster built from the ground up and opened during the time that Tron, Guardians, and the SW resort have been under construction?

I'd never understood why ANY outdoor construction had to stop. Even last spring we knew that the virus lasts about 2 seconds in a warm, sunny environment, i.e. average FL day. They should have been able to build them faster while the parks were shut-down since they wouldn't have to worry about keeping the pesky guests away from construction..

I KNOW!!! Not only could they have been doing construction, it could have gone way faster since their were no guests anywhere. Moreover, this was Florida where they were closed for like 3 days. Disney was making money hand over fist during Covid due to Disney+. The stoppage in construction was simply to save money they didn't need to be saving.

Not trying to argue here but what does Disney making money from Disney+ have to do with the parks? It is a different Disney division with it's own budget.
