Anybody else? I remember this was happening to someone else recently, only I think it was a slightly different virus warning. I've run AVG and it finds nothing, and I've opened other sites and gotten no warning, but I've closed and re-opened this site multiple times and it invariably pops up. :confused3

The last week (literally *last week*) I was running Windows, my PC was infected mulitple times by a grayware called "AntiVirus 2008/2009". I do not know for sure the method of infection. It was one of three possible avenues - my e-mail(scanned, but still somewhat possible), another site (probable) or here(highly improbable). I ran a free system-clean off of Trend-Micro (there are others) to get rid of the thing. The whole thing involves a re-direct to a phishing website, plus my PC had grayware installed in three different locations. The multiple pop-ups giving me a fake 'warning' and insisting I install their software...ugh.

good luck.
agnes!

Yeah, I been getting that trojan horse warning multiple times today on one of the computers. Only comes on with the DIS and I never seen it before. Makes me worried - I will get my dad to check it out as this stuff scares me! :scared:

Me too, since last night, maybe we need to ask on the tech board.

Me too. No more Dising for me until this is fixed.

My Liveupdate and scan is running right now...after I got the "your computer has been blocked from an attempted attack"... :sad2:

I'm getting it too. My AVG ran and found nothing:confused3

Could you have picked up a virus somewhere else, like in an email or another site, and it's being activated when you go to a vBulletin website like the DIS? Try going to another vBulletin website and see if you get the same thing.

I'd also recommend running a scan and checking out either McAfee or Norton's home pages to see if they have instructions for removing your virus. I'm not getting any warnings or virus alerts but, then again, I'm pretty careful about the other sites I hit on the web.

My AVG does the same thing. It's being detected in my temp files. It started last night.

ME TOO! Everytime I go to the Disboard homepage a AVG popup comes on.

The Disboard does seem to be infected!:scared1:

I alerted the mods!!!!!!!

signing off for now!

There is a thread on this on the tech support board, it looks like AVG is throwing a false positive

The Norton interrupted me weeks ago to say there was this Thing and I had to do Something and it had to be done immediately. So I did what it told me to do and it said it had Ended the Thing and all was well, but the name of the Thing had "trojan" in it. No idea from where this Thing came.

Nothing recently and I check the DIS almost daily.

But I wouldn't know an AVG from an XYZ, either.

Here's the thread on the Tech Support forum discussing this: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1937018

In short, this does look like a false positive being thrown by AVG. Only AVG users are seeing this message, and only since last night/this morning.

I'm going to close this thread here on the CB so we can keep the questions and information updates in one thread, the one on the Tech Support forum.
