I have read several comments on this board where folks who do not like heelys...say they are tempted to trip kids they see on heelys.........

I find this to be extrememly offensive and if anyone purposely trips my child they will be in serious trouble!!

A recent thread compared smoking in non-designated areas at Disney and riding heelys as rampant at Disney.....

however I did not see anyone say they would go up to a smoker and slap a cigarette out of their mouth.... that would be an assault ...as would tripping a passing child on purpose!!

( sorry about the soapbox ..but It REALLY disturbed me to see folks speaking so casually about hurting a child!!)

I think these people said they were tempted to do so. I seriously doubt they would ever do it.

I'm "tempted" to do a lot of potentially offensive things, but that doesn't mean I'd do it.

I'm tempted to do a lot of socially inappropriate things...doesn't mean i would do them. That is called impulse control...especially if you've lived in a house with seven children! :teeth:

I wouldn't trip a kid with Heely's (maybe tempting, but wouldn't do it)

However, I also wouldn't allow my kids to ride around on their shoes in public places.

As I said no one posted that they were tempted to slap some one for smoking at Disney or swimming in the wrong pool or using a refillable mug more than once.....people all have expressed displeasure for those things and even called names..but I don't recall any threats to physically hurt someone over them.... only noticed that when it came to kids/heelys!I knew that this post would not get support . but just wanted to express my feelings.........

ETA I would not allow my child to use them in inappropriate places....however if he ever did I would want him to be spoken to not tripped!!

So then, really, it is the parents we should trip... ;)

Not sure which thread your talking about but my son has a pair of heelys. DS rarely skates with them on so I do not worry about him knocking someone down or him bumping into anyone. They are a good pair of running shoes though..... ;)

However, if ANYONE would intentionally trip him just because they do not like heelys or because they grouped all heelys owners together then the momma bear in me is coming out. I can be a nasty *B* when necessary, otherwise I'm a calm, laid back and quiet person.

Noodleknitter, I have 6 siblings I know what you mean!

OP I agree with you. I dont care if they say it is "tempting" or not, agression towards children is scary and wrong over something so stupid!

This post will be followed by people saying "What if they run into me?" Would you push down a child that ran into you messing around, probably not.

I would press charges against anyone who tripped my child on purpose.

Some of those kids with heely's are putting others in danger b/c they will just suddenly take off and become a real life version of "objects are closer than they appear".

I do think the posts were tongue in cheek and probably wouldn't be made if children with heely's had some manners when they are zipping.

That being said...never encountered an issue at WDW.

And I also don't think children are in danger of being physically being harmed by adults. (seems to me an obvious assumption--but mabye DISers are an aggressive lot when they go to Disney. :confused3 ).

Pssh. If anyone tripped my son becuase they didn't like Heely's or whatever the case may be, they better watch out. They don't know what a *B* I can be when I need to be!

OP: I agree with you 100%. :)

I am not asking for a debate..just an understanding as to why someone would be tempted to trip someone on Heely's? Or do you mean you are tempted to trip someone who is acting obnoxious on thier heely's? If it is the latter, I understand. But then would you be tempted to trip anyone acting obnoxious, regarless of the shoe they are wearing?

If that's they case then I totally understand :rotfl2: I am just trying to figure out if it the shoe or the person in them??

I am not directing the above solely to the poster I quoted. So many people post on these boards they can't stand Heely's but I suspect it really must be the person in them that is behaving inappropriately, not the shoe itself.

And I know they are against the rules at WDW & DL. That's not what I am asking.

Then this next question is for the poster I quoted or anyone else who feels the same way...why would you not let your kids wear Heely's in public, assuming your child(ren) are well behaved and not interfering with anyone else or acting inappropriately?

Again, this is an inquiry, I am trying to undersatnd.

*B* fagettaboutit!! I'll take em down like Tyson in his prime! :rotfl2:

southern4sure, all good mommas are bears sometimes. I would be a bear, too, if someone intentionally hurt my child. We are down to 4 in the house, and it feels so empty!

OTOH, I think talking of how scary the aggression is, etc., is too funny. I'm tempted on a daily basis to do such silly things. But, i've never in all of my days done them, or seen anyone else do them. So why get you knickers in a twist?

Interesting. Well - I was one of the people complaining about them on the other threads, but I didn't admit I was tempted to trip anyone.

However, I will now! I was tempted to trip the non-supervising PARENTS of the heely-wearing pre-teen who almost ran me down on the ramp exiting The Land in Epcot last week, and then darted in front of us and almost ran into someone pushing a stroller. How's THAT for obnoxious? There's no excuse. :confused3
