Well since you Photography Board DISers suggested every other purchase I made this week, I figured I'd ask about Tripods. I saw someone mention that the keep the tripod under the stoller. Okay I can do this I think. But i don't have a tripod yet, have never used one before, and want something fairly cheap since I've spent enough money this week! Any thoughts/Suggestions?

BTW, I saw on another board that people are having problems with Amazon shipping but I ordered everything on Sunday night...had camera body yesterday (Tue) and received all the other goodies today. Definately no problems here!

Two questions. First, will this set-up fit in lockers at WDW? Second, is it necessary to purchase a quick release plate also? Thanks

Yes it fits in the locker without having to take off the ballhead or anything. And it comes with a quick release plate- you only need to buy one whan you loose it like I did. ;) I also bought the carrying case and leg protectors- not a bad setup for kind of an entry level tripod. It holds my D300 & 70-200/2.8vr at any angle without slipping around.

I believe that I figured out that at the Magic Kingdom lockers, you can put up to a 24" tripod in if you go corner to corner. That is the size of mine with ball head attached and it just fit. I'm not sure if the lockers in the other parks are the same or not. Never tried them.

Just bought a "medium-duty" Sunpak at Circuit City yesterday. I had a gift card and wanted to use it before they got sold!!!

It was only $55. I played around with it last night and it seems plenty steady with my K200D and 18-250 lens attached. Can't vouch for it's long term durability yet, but it seems fine as a tripod to get me started. I am 6' tall and it is plenty tall enough for me to use without stooping or bending. It is fairly light weight and has a lifetime warranty.

I am going to be shooting some panoramas at work today. I will post tonight and let everyone know how it worked out.

Just another quick update. I was up on our roof at work this morning (I work at a large trauma hospital) taking panoramas for my boss. I was using the new tripod and our helicopter ambulance came in with a patient.

The tripod worked great! There was plenty of breeze going already and with the rotor wash, it was plenty to test the tripod. I had my K200 w/ the 18-250 lens on and the tripod was very stable. (I had my hand through the strap, just in case!)

It allowed me to pan to follow the helicopter in and the head moved easily enough that I could keep it in frame, but lock in down when I wanted. All in all, I was very pleased.:woohoo:

Now, if I could just get my boss to let me go home early and download these shots so I can see what I really have....
