Triple D's Flying for FREEDOM in July

hey guys! :) just wanted to pop in and say hello...

ran my longest run yet of 7.5 miles yesterday in the gross heat and humidity over here in the northeast. probably not the smartest thing to do but I finished. definitely was slightly nauseus afterwards but it went away after I ate some crackers and cheese. my friend that ran with me got really sick after, i'm thinking it was slight heat stroke. we also ran much slower than normal but i'll accept it! :)

Please be careful running in the heat. I hope you are taking plenty of water to drink! In heat & humidity it's really important to stay hydrated. Not wanting to preach, just worried for team members.
That said, congrats on your longest run.....7.5 miles is definitely an accomplishment. :goodvibes

Preach all you want! :) Mondays run was definitely an eye opener! We thought we brought and drank enough water and gatorade but we apparently needed more. I'm going to go to the running store and buy one of those water belts or whatever they're called. There's only so much water my hands can carry! ;)

Just ran a race last night at jones Beach. It was 3.5 miles instead of 5K, and although the sun had gone behind some clouds, it was pretty hot. I was totally soaked by the end.

I guess we are reporting the last week plus a few days at the end of the month?

Hey guys!

I am still up in Maine where it has been cold, foggy and rainy most of the time. Great running weather, but not what I hoped for in a July vacation! My family and I have been very active up here. I have taken on doing something active each day, whether it is a run, a hike, a bike ride or just walking to town. I feel great, and I am going to try to take this into my non-vacation life as well!

So I am really proud of my hours and minutes - this is for two weeks from July 14-28:

Miles (running) - 14.1
Minutes (running) - 181

Miles (other) - 7.75
Minutes (other) - 220

Total miles - 21.85
Total minutes - 21.85

I'm glad to see that everyone is doing well, and I look forward to being more active on the boards when I get back next week.

I have a fuel belt that I use anytime I go more than 4 miles when it's hot and humid. Sometimes I carry a bottle of water on shorter wogs, but I find it annoying; I should just use the fuel belt all the time.

Edited to add my mileage/time for week ending 7/28/09:

370 minutes 19 miles wogging and cross training

Absolutely crazy beautiful weather yesterday and today. I think June and July got turned around here in Kansas. June was hot, hot, hot and July has been mild. No complaints, I'm loving it.

hi, gang...
been travelling and all discombobulated from being in too many places this month. Will update the spreadsheet this weekend, I promise.

The last week of July will include through today, July 31!!!

Keep up the good work...it's about time to get into WDW marathon and 1/2 marathon (and Goofy) training for real!!

btw, I've been a training slacker as well...won't have much to report. Life should settle down next week, though.

Hi Triple D's. I feel like I abandoned my team. I don't really have anything to report for July. Although I am thinking about doing Goofy in 2010. Right now I am trying to find a charity I can do it for that is the right fit for me. So if that is the case then I will definately be on here more often.

If you're interested, the Podcast Team is working on getting set up with Disney for a 'Give Kids the World' charity team. They are just waiting on paperwork from Disney.

Thanks Sam Sam - are they going to have Goofy spots available? And is there anywhere to go to look at what they require? I know you said that they are still waiting on the paperwork from Disney but I wasn't sure if all the details were available yet or not.

Sorry, but no details are available yet. I would imagine it will be for any of the events that weekend, but I'm not positive. I also heard that there weren't going to be any requirements, but that's falls into 'could be just a rumor' category. :goodvibes

Final mileage for this month:
miles - 9.1 (running and biking)
minutes - 90

I'm looking forward to an awesome August. My training will need to come up a notch and I'm feeling ready!

Good Morning,

I was out for my Sunday morning long run and remembered that I need to post my miles !! I did one small 4.2 mile race this week on the Charles River in Boston. It was a HOT & Humid night so the race was slow but the Band was called "Playing Dead" and they where great !! All Dead Head Stuff. This week I'm going to see Paul McCartney at Fenway park.:thumbsup2 Looking forward to it. Hope you guys are getting out and having fun.

Miles July 22 to July 31
Running 40.8 Time 352 min
Hockey 90 min

Next weekend I have the Brew Run on Saturday & Falmouth Road Race on Sunday:)

Betsy, I was able to get into the spreadsheet. Thanks 4 the help.

Cheers
Dave

Hello 3D's! Hard to believe it is August already. With the cool rainy weather we have had here it seems like the summer is going to be gone before it gets here.

Dave, that sounds like a cool race with a Dead band playing. Yesterday was Jerry's birthday, and I went to a Jerry Party here. Four bands all playing Dead tunes, free beer with admission, and the weather was great. Have fun at the Brew Run, I myself will be at a Beer Fest next Saturday.

Here are my hours for the remainder of July, the 22nd thru the 31st. 17 hours biking and 275 miles, and I did a race which was 3.5 miles, so add 7 miles for that. The time was 26:45.

Have a great week!

Augie

Totals for July 22 - July 31:

Hope everyone has a great week.

Hello duckies back from Yellowstone and the Tetons. It was amazing never seen anything like it. If you like to hike and be inspired this is the place.

Betsy there were so many bikers in the Parks I was amazed. The change in altitude and narrow rode I'm suprised people aren't hit.

We've been to Yellowstone 3 different times over the years and loved it. We took our bikes one time (15 years ago) and enjoyed doing a little riding first thing in the morning before the traffic picked up. Very fun experience, we rode by a bison that was so close to the road that we could have reached out and touched it.:rotfl:Luckily it wasn't interested in us. All those years ago, I don't think we saw a single other cyclist!

We leave tomorrow to visit our kids and grankids in California. Yay!!

Turning in miles/hours for week ending 8-7-09:

425 minutes 34 miles combination wogging,cross training,
and stationary bike

Have a great week everyone!!!
