Here it is everyone! The last month before most of the team and board members in general head down to WDW to do their races. This is an exciting time for all. A lot of anticipation. A lot of training and for some, a lot of excuses. This is the time of year that we want to push training back and pull the table and holidays forward. But since we have something set and planned ahead of us, we have a reason to stay focused on the task at hand. I know you will all have a wonderful month and do fantastic at the races!!!

So again, here we are!! 11 months of the year have ended and the last month is here. We will make this a great month filled with motivation, energy, love and encouragement. I look forward to seeing how all of your training reports come in in preparation for Marathon Weekend and even more, I look forward to reading all of the reports of how you do.

Let's go DUCKIES!!! This is OUR month!!!

Hi guys! I'm alive, I promise! :) I've been MIA...studying for my GMATs...but I have been going to the gym and running so I'm FARRRRR behind in posting my minutes! :(

YIKES - the waiver numbers are out and its all too real now that in less than 36 days I will be doing this Goofy thing (that is what I have been calling it lately because I must be Goofy) Planning to get out for an 18 miler on Sunday. My during the week runs have been severly slacking as of late - I did the same thing last year.

Hi, Jenn!!! Good luck! When is the exam? miss ya!:goodvibes

My during the week runs have been severly slacking as of late - I did the same thing last year.

I know, Tricia...sort of scary! We will definitely have to meet up! I've been off this area for a bit (my own fault)...and need to catch up and figure out all that is going on Wish-wise for the weekend. I'm nervous!

But ran a tough 1/2 marathon this past Sunday...that was good for confidence and training. And probably more elevation change that we'll do over all three races in January!

Everyone else...start posting your December stuff!! I am working on the spreadsheet. I figure, just because I haven't been good with keeping up with my numbers doesn't mean I can't at least enter yours!

Not much time left...then tapering!

So....let's get this thread going for the month! I'm off work a lot and will have time to stay up!

What is everyone's holiday wish (running related or not)?
Where is everyone staying for the marathon weekend, if you are coming?
What are your bib numbers?

yippee!

will work on the spreadsheet as far as totals and stuff later. and get my miles in . I have run 2 races since my last post. Both decent efforts.

Hello Dickies, how is everyone today? It won't be long now, the culmination of our long training. My miles for the past week are: 10.25 hours and 150 miles. Only three of them are running miles, but I am hopeful I will get out more this week. And the the next few also. (I had better!)

My bib # for the half is 45464. This is all new to me so not sure of any meanng to it. It seems this has to do with corral spots but I do not remember what I had put down, and had no previous time to add, as all of my races had been 5K's. Though I now have a 13K time I can show. This will be the largest race for me ever, I can't imagine that many people all running.

Thanks for doing the spread sheet, Betsy. I was finally able to look at it without having to put a password in. (which I had never done)

Have a good week, everyone! And see you all in a bit over 4 weeks!

Augie

Hello all, hope everyones training is going well. My totals for the week of Dec. 1 - 7 are:
Distance: 43 mi ( 20 Biking)
Duration: 6 hr 45 min (X-training included)

Now time to answer the questions ironz asked:
1. I want a garmin to run with, not sure if I've hinted enough though.
2. We are staying at Saratoga Springs.
3. My Bibb No. for the half is 46223

Hey Triple D's, another year almost gone....where does the time go!

I won't be doing the 1/2 in January, instead I'm going to do the new Food and Wine half in the fall. An evening race is way more to my liking.:goodvibes

My totals for week ending Dec. 7:

340 minutes 14 miles

My totals for Dec 1-7 are 22 miles and 290 minutes.

My holiday wish is for my family to be happy and healthy. 2009 wasn't the greatest of years and has been filled with much sadness. I hope 2010 brings happiness and healing. Other than that I wish for a new pair of running shoes, a Garmin or even just a Timex Ironman watch so I can actually get on a run/walk schedule instead of walking when I feel like it and running when I feel like it.

As far as the Marathon weekend I still don't have a room for Friday night but just might end up staying off site if I need to. For Saturday thru Monday night I just ending up getting a room reservation at AKL

My bib number for the half is 42188 and for the full its 15639 - can't believe I am going Goofy.

Hey team! I am not overwhelmingly late this time. YAY! I was about to head to bed but thought I would go ahead and post last week's totals.

Miles - 90 (Most I have had in a while. Felt good too.)
Time - 11.25 Hours

Past week has been filled with a lot of stress but tis the season for the stress levels to go up for everyone, I am sure. I know everyone is going to do really great in January. I do look forward to reading all of the reports.

Have a great week everyone!!
Bryan

One 10K race and one 22mile run and then taper! :cool1:

Just wanted to come on this post and paste a race report from my Holiday Mile last night. I put it on the monthly thread but wanted to update my Duckie team members because I am so proud of my neice - she ended up coming in 3rd in her age group (2 races under her belt and she already has a 2nd and 3rd place finish :cool1:)

my 12 year old niece and I did a 1 mile race this evening before the holiday parade (the only local parade at night - my city Delray Beach ALWAYS has had their Christmas Parade around 6:30 on the 2nd Saturday of Dec and it was the BEST!!!! Well I guess there were fights last year and to avoid that they are having it at 4:30 this year - I am not even gonna bother to go.) So tonight was Boca Raton's parade and since the run is right before the parade you have a Disney race sized crowd on the side of the road cheering for you (granted they are all lined up for the parade but still I heard some cheering for us) Let me tell you - that was the hardest mile I have ever done. I think we went out a little too fast - first of all my niece had a cortisone shot in her shoulder this morning for bursitis because she is a gymnast so she also had 3 hours of gym practice before the race. I am glad I had her with me though because with the heat and humidity I felt like I was dying (well not really but....) I look over on the side and I see its only 1/4 mile (it was marked on the side every 1/4) I was thinking to myself I am never going to make it running this whole mile and so I kept checking with my niece to see how she was doing. She said she was starting to get a cramp so I told her breathe in through the nose and out the mouth. Luckily she wanted to walk (I was ready for a walk break but I didn't want to stop in front of all those people because come on its only 1 mile but still I was ready) So I was lucky she was there so I could "play" like I was only stopping because of her - LOL. About 3/4 of a mile was were the grandstands for the parade was set up and there was this very bright light - it was hard to see past it. Once the finish line was in sight my neice asks me if that was the finish line and as soon as I said yes she took off and sprinted to the finish. Not sure of the official times hopefully they will be out tomorrow. I know I finished in 9:14 which is a PR for me - considering I have never done a 1 mile race before although that is my quickest mile ever that I know of. I asked my niece what time she saw when she went over and she said 9:08. We then got our shirts (smart they handed them out after the race so we didn't have to carry them during the race) we got some Gatorade and were off to find my sister and the baby. We sat on the curb and watched the parade for awhile but it kept getting later and later so we decided to start walking back to the car which was along the parade route so we still got to see the parade. The baby was at her first parade and saw Santa for the first time. She loved the marching bands and kicked her feet when she saw Santa. So cute!!! Ugh now I am exhusted and ready for bed.

Bryan, I'm calling you out brother. Go read the Panda Ramblings. You need this, you need a new direction and a new challenge to get you back from the abess.

Hello Ducks! Are we ready for marathon weekend? Three weeks (and a few days) to go. I am ready, got my room, plane tix, and the ME pass.

The miles for this week (8th - 14th) is 118 miles and 7.5 hours. Only a short run, I am not fond of running in the cold. I don't mind biking in it, but not running.

Have a good week! See you soon!

Augie

Very light week for me, way too much going on and I had trouble fitting my workouts in. Hopefully, this next week will be better.

week ending Dec. 14:

180 minutes 9 miles

My totals for the week of Dec. 8 -14 are 26 miles and 380 minutes.

Also, I was wondering if anyone had some tricks to helping shins heal. I know resting helps but at the moment I don't have much time to cut training with disney being a few weeks away. My last long run before I start tapering is this Saturday. Anyway some advice would be greatly appreciated.

Tim
