Its not much difference to stay at POR and I love that resort but I am wondering if my 2 y.o. might enjoy POP better because of all the big "stuff" and bright colors. I have never stayed at POP before, btw.

I am for the most part thinking about what my son might like best and why.

I think POP might be more in line with a 2 yr old. For that matter, I think AS Movies might be even better. The Toy Story building has RC that he can climb on, there's a little play fountain in front of the Herbie buildings.

I thought about Movies but thought POP might be better since they have dedicated bus service and are a little more centrally located. Don't the All Stars all share one bus route? If they start seperating them out due to it being summer and busier, then I would definitely consider Movies though, even if it is a bit off the beaten path.

When we were there a few weeks ago, Movies only came and went to Movies. It didn't stop anywhere else. I was sort of nervous about it too. But there was nothing to worry about, we never once waited for a bus!

I wonder the same thing! I have a 7yo & a 5yo though. I KNOW my 7yo ds would love the toystory theme, but I think I would like a moderate resort better, bigger rooms? nicer pools? better/more restaurants? Anyone have any thoughts on the differences and if it really makes a difference? To me, I guess that I'm going to be so excited to be there, I really don't care where I sleep! He may feel the same way lol!

Bigger rooms and better pool (with a slide) would also be the deciding factor for us. . .

When we were there shortly after Easter there were dedicated busses to each of the All Star resorts. Occasionally, as the parks were less busy. they were combined into one route but even then it really wasn't that big of a deal I thought.

I've stayed both places and my family (young girls) prefer POR. I think after being at the parks all day (and I mean ALL DAY for us), we like to come back to sleep/stay in a more relaxed, less chaotic, less crowded resort. Allstar movies was just too much for us after wild/fun days!

Sit at your computer with your 2YO, go to the DIS community photo galleries. Show your 2YO pictures of POP, then POR. I would be shocked if a 2YO chose POR. Our 2YO loved POP (and ASSp).

If you ask me, the value resorts were designed for young children. The only advantage of POR I can think for a child is the waterslide, but not necessarily for a two year old as the child has to do it alone, the parent is not allowed to go down with them. (MY DS did it with me waiting at the bottom, and he had on a life jacket, when he was 2, but he was much more of a daredevil than your average 2yo.) Besides the slide, he remembers nothing about POR, but he is very excited to be going next month to ASMovies. I agree that you should sit at the computer and show your child some of the choices, even at two they have some opinions!

Thanks all. I don't even need to show my son the pics to see which one he will go crazy over, lol.

I will save POR for the next time the whole family goes up, this trip is all about him and I am sure he will have a blast with all the neat things to look at.

I would definitely go with Port Orleans:

Since it's essentially two resorts in one, you have two food courts, two sit-down restaurants, two differently themed pools (both with slides), and two gift shops.

Because it's on the river, you can hop on the riverboat and head down to Downtown Disney, which greatly expands your dining and shopping options.

The location is a bit closer to most of the parks, so your bus ride is shorter.

The rooms are larger. We had a king-sized bed in Port Orleans; I'm not sure if the double-rooms are full sized beds or queens. That may or may not matter to you.

The theming is much nicer (though I realize this is an opinion -- I'm sure that what I call gaudy, others call colorful).

As an adult, I would definately agree with you, POR has better theming. But for a small child, what we call gaudy is what, in the words of DS3, a child would call "awesome."

I absolutely LOVE POR. It is probably my favorite resort after AKL. I am just trying to think what my 2YO would like. My DH tonight, who would never stay at an All Star/POP because of the reasons people give (too gaudy, etc) suggested maybe we do POFQ because of the "dragon pool" and the gators that are around plus the bright decorations in that food court area but it would probably be more "calm" than POP or the All Stars for wind down time. So now, I am back up in the air again, LOL.

Maybe I will break out those pictures for Cole. :)

TOO FUNNY!

I was looking at pictures of the Disney resorts with my son this morning and he saw Movies and said "No no. Don't like it!" I almost fell out of my chair laughing!

I think POFQ will be the place for us. He seemed to like the dragon.
