We were talking about this as I left the office yesterday, as I have to go to the bank to exchange some cash for my B&B bill while I am in London. I have a credit card that I will be using while I am in London and DLP, but I figure I will need some cash - pounds and euros - for incidentals, such as lunch. I got The London Pass with the travel option, so I won't need too much for the Underground (except when I come back from DLP to take the Tube for St. P to Heathrow).

I am traveling alone, so what are your thoughts? Should I bring just cash, or maybe get some travelers checks?

How long are you in London and Paris? I think cash would be easier than travellers cheques. As to how much - that depends on what you like to have for lunch. £10 per day would be more than enough for lunch for me.

Sorry - one week in London and 5 days at Disneyland Paris. I am considering the Disney tour day trip to Paris, where I would have to by lunch.

I'd go for cash also. That being a mixture of Pounds and Euro's.

As for how much for lunch, it all depends on where you're planning on dining and how much you like to eat per portion etc. By portion size, I mean some of our dishes are served with less food on the plate than in the US and our McDonald's is certainly a lot smaller portion wise (just an example off the top of my head) :)

As Dimps says, if you're dining at a 'regular' place, then £10-£15 would probably cover you for lunch and evening meal. At an actual pub restaurant you're probably looking at around £3-£4 for a starter, between £6-£10 for a main meal and if you require dessert, then maybe around another £4-£5 on top. Plus any drinks you may have. A pint of beer is around £3.50-£4.00 depending on where you're drinking and for a glass of wine you're probably talking the same.

Hope that helps some :confused3

A little off topic, but it's very easy to make your own way into Paris and you get far more freedom than if you take the organized tour and it's far cheaper too. All you do is take one train for about 40 minutes and your in Paris :goodvibes

Getting around is easy enough to do via the metro / subway as well.
