trip to the fort

on our trip to the fort this 4th of july we saw about 30 rv's with flat tires.these trailers and motor homes had a lot of damage luckily no one crashed. so if your tires are 5 yrs. old or older your should change them.if not sure of age have a tire store check the code on the tires. cost to fix damage to rv is more then replacing tires and keeping everyone safe is more reason. so check those tires and have a wonderful time. ps it's no fun changing a tire when it's 90 out on the side of the interstate and it's not safe. good luck.

just one more thought on son in laws 99 motor home we checked and the tires were made in 97 thats 9 yrs. old, they looked great but when we changed them they were about to fail.

Just had new tires put on the pop-up for that very reason. Don't want to ruin a vacation over $100 worth of rubber. Replaced the spare too

One more safety note, my dad's 5th wheel was only 1 year old on his trip from Fl to visit us in TN this June he got a flat. He pulled onto the shoulder to fix it(passenger side). As he was finishing a bobtail rig sideswiped the 5th wheel and his new F350. Damage to the 5th was enough to change our Smokey Mtn camping trip, a GA RV dealer was atleast able to make it road worthy so he could continue and not have to buy a motorcycle trailer. When he got it back to his dealer in FL they said he was very lucky it was only a bobtail rig, had it been a fully loaded 18 wheeler it would likey have flip the 5th on top of him and my mom. So if you get a flat, I know it can cause damage to your trailer to drive on it till you reach an exit but the alternative could be much worse, please get off the interstate to change the tire.

PS: the trooper who investigated said they were far enough off the road and it was the truckers fault. The 5th has now been replaced with a 2007 version of the same but with more slides and we will help to "christen" it next week at FW
