Trip to Honeydukes

Okay, don't laugh, but when we were in Universal in July, I bought a jar of the best jelly beans I've ever had at Honeydukes. These weren't the every-flavored ones that you buy there. They were in a pre-packaged jar that was full of candies that looked like they might be round hard candies. They turned out to be *sigh* the juiciest, most wonderful fruit-filled jelly beans that I or my colleagues had ever had. Those candies got us through a lot of rough days back in September and October. :-)

Flash forward to now. DS, DH, and I are spending 8 days / nights in WDW beginning next week, and on a whim, we decided to drive over to Universal one evening to have dinner at Margaritaville. We are annual pass holders at UO, so I think we'll go in to IOA and maybe visit Honeydukes to see if we can snag some more of those candies -- as gifts for my colleagues who were so disappointed when they were gone.

I'm aware that IOA is open late next week. Do you think the lines to get into Honeydukes will be hours-long by the evenings -- after dinner? We aren't planning on doing lots of rides or anything since we're not staying onsite right now. We like UO better when we're actually staying there. But I am hoping we can get into the shop. What do you think our chances are?

See, I told you not to laugh.

I won't laugh, I have gone to the park just to take pictures of jelly beans for folks on these boards!! :lmao:

It sounds like it is busier with the holidays. I can imagine it is pretty bad with the later hours. I think we are going to try to swing through tonight and check it out. I will let you know if the crowds are horrible. I hope they aren't, now I am craving jelly beans!!!

Those jelly bean type candies in the jar are wonderful!!!! They are sourish and have so much flavour! I would check to see if the Universal Store outside IOA has them before heading in to Honeydukes.

If there is a line to get into Honeydukes/Zonko's, it probably won't be too long, especially if you go after 8pm (IOA is open until midnight next week; 10pm this week). I only had to wait about 5 mins to get in before, and it gave me time to finish my butterbeer.

MMMmmmmm Butterbeer. What a good idea! Seriously, though, thank you all for not laughing and for giving me good info / advice. They really ARE good jelly beans! Worth the trip.

OK- went tonight and we were able to walk right in. It was crowded, but no lines. I also checked the Universal store and did not find jelly beans!!

Bundle up - it is cold out there!!

It was soooo cold yesterday morning - up until about 11ish. We had lots of clothes on (including gloves) but were still cold.

I've been to Florida lots of times this time of year and have never been here when the weather was this cold.

Epic fail! I tried today, I really did. But I just didn't want those jelly beans THAT badly. We decided to drive over to UO for dinner at Margaritaville and then try to get in to WWoHP. Geez. The stand-by line was STILL 180 minutes long -- just to get into the world. My poor colleagues.

Maybe we'll have to come down later in the year just for a UO trip. What a good excuse. :-)

Thanks for the good thoughts!

Julie
