My DH and I are thinking of making a trip to Hawaii in March sometime and I would love to hear some tips on where to start looking for deals. It seems that the plane tickets are always so expensive unless they are last minute.
Does anyone know of some great boards to look at?
Some Info:

Flying from Rochester, MN area or La Crosse, WI or if have to Minneapolis. I know the first two would cause a connection to MSP anyways.

Flying to Honolulu and staying probably in the North shore area.

Thanks a ton!!!

I would check Orbitz, Expedia and Travelocity. Also I would check Pleasant Hawaiian. They don't have the best hotels among their inventory but they usually have good prices. Sometimes packages can work out better than buying a la carte. Sometimes not. I would also check the airline web sites for tickets and accommodations. Aloha and Hawaiian both offer packages.

I would ask me to come along! :teeth: Seriously, have a great trip!

Look in the travel section of your newspaper religiously- the last time DH and I went to Hawaii, it was $495 per person, for 7 nights, in Kona (the big island)--included all airfare and the hotel room. It was an AWESOME deal and we found it in the paper. Now, this was 6 years ago, but you never know. We do live on the West coast, so that helped- they flew us on Hawaiian Airlines..

Get some travel guides to Hawaii and they can give you some tips...you CAN get great package deals sometimes, I think better than if you did it a la carte (kind of backwards from Disney).

Good luck and have a great time!

We used to live in the Minneapolis area and we almost always connect out of MSP when flying anywhere and I know Northwest has a direct flight out of MSP, if you are interested. Travelocity, Expedia are good to check out hotels, sometimes they have stay 5 nights get the 6th free. March is a great time to see whales so make sure and book a boat trip to go whale watching!
