I am overwhelmed and grateful for all the responses. Thanks to everyone for the ideas.

I checked the website for the city pass and a lot of money can be saved for the whole family. I also checked the public library in the town I where I will be staying and they offer the museum passes that can be reserved on-line!

Since we will spend a week in the area, I am thinking public transportation is the way to go.
