Had a great time at Disney but we have sadly made our last trip. It's just not as special as it used to be for the money it costs you.
We flew into MCO and got our rental car from Dollar. BIG HINT: get your express cards from any and all car rental places. Because I am a Dollar Express member, I jumped in front of about 25 people. I don't rent often and I'm no one special, so get that card!
We stayed at Fantasy World Resort. It took us a second stop to get to the correct check in; their signs aren't the best but no real harm. Airport gave us good directions, though. We had rented a two bedroom, 2 bath for five of us: Mom, Dad, three kids. Boys were in one room, while daughter slept in living room roll out sofa. The condo was awesome. All the dishes were there. There is a Super Walmart just down the street where we bought groceries for our breakfast and lunches. We packed lunches to take to the parks and while that wasn't as fun, we saved a bundle of money. We were also just not as rushed in the morning and had more nutritious meals. The condo was very clean and it made it great to have a washer/dryer and wireless internet. They did have a safe in the room but we opted not to use it for $1 a day.
Day 1-Animal Kingdom - total disappointment. Good time at shows and Expedition Everest but very un Disney. Characters not very professional and we had expected more animals.
Day 2-Epcot. Totally awesome. Too much to see in one day; should have split it up. But this place is the bomb.
Day 3-Magic Kingdom. By now we were fastpass maniacs, so we learned to "work" the system. Took two days to visit everything, very wise. Very disappointed that Hall of Presidents was closed. But we did see the Country Bear Jamboree this time
.
Day 4 - Disney Studios. Very awesome. Even rode Rock and Rollercoaster twice.
Day 5-Seaworld. Very cool. It was our third trip so I wasn't very excited but ended up having a great time. Made me hungry for seafood so we found a seafood buffet that night.
Day 6-Kennedy Space Center-Very cool. This was a totally awesome drive and day. We found a coupon in a local travel brochure so it was lovely to hear the lady tell us that we had saved $17.50 on our tickets. We drove down to Cocoa Beach and played in the water a bit. Found a little dive of a Mexican Restaurant and had THE best chimichanga of my life.
Hints: Don't buy souvenirs at Disney. There are cheap places all over the place. We ended up buying our Tshirts at Walgreen's 3 for $10.
I wished that I had taken my rolling ice chest. It is small but no one would have cared a lick. And with those cadillac baby strollers all over the place, no one should have said a peep about my little ice chest. It would have been nice to keep drinks cold. That was our only downside to bringing lunch. Disney should be ashamed of the prices they charge for drinks and food.
I bought tickets at undercovertourist dot com. Great service. Shopped everywhere and they were cheapest we found. Very fast delivery. Told us about 10 days, we got them in less than a week.
Disney should do better job with their customer service. It wasn't until Day 2that we found out that each ticket was assigned to a different person. They used a thumb print at Epcot but they hadn't used that method at Animal Kingdom. If they did, I honestly don't remember so we didn't use the same ticket with the same person. But a 60 something little old lady didn't mind fussing and scolding us at the gate of Epcot. I told her for the prices they charged, that didn't include balling me out for something I didn't understand.
This and several other things put a really sour note on my opinion of the Disney brand. It used to be so much more professional. But it was a great trip and our kids had a blast, which made it an accomplishment for the memories we created.
Y'all have fun!!!
