Please, allow me a small vent regarding trip reports.
I like to read them, they are often entertaining.
However, I always wonder why on the DLP board, people need to post a seperate thread for each day (or part of their day) for their trip report. Can't you just start one thread for your trip and add every day to that thread? (like I do and people on the trip report board do)

It don't like to scroll through pages and pages of thread titles, and those trip report threads just always fill up the first page, meaning you ahev to scroll and scroll to have otherr threads.

Thanks for letting me vent.

PS: this was not directed to people in particular. This is something that bothers me already a long time, and just this morning I had time to post about it.

I have to say i'm not bothered by multiple parts, BUT i have always wondered why DLRP doesn't have a separate trip report area on DIS, like the other parks. Fair enough there aren't as many TR's submitted but it'd be nice if they were all in one place.

I've always preferred posting each day as a separate thread and noticed that most other boards are similar. There are those posters that like a blog type report and will post updates on the same thread until it becomes very large. Both ways are the choice of the OP :)

In an idea world we would have a separate trip report sub-board which would definitely make it easier to find the various threads of a posters trip. The mods have asked that this be looked at :) I know as a result of having only 1 board I've missed many reports. Though if posters post the links up on the trip report index this normally gives them a bump :thumbsup2

On the plus side it just shows how much busier the DLP board is getting... keep up the chatting folks :goodvibes

I am sorry if I have annoyed by putting 9 threads on re my trip reports, but I often do this to allow people to break up their reading into chunks. Also, it makes the threads shorter to read through if people have less time. And it makes for answering questions easier.

Personally I do not like people posting pics on threads directly as it takes for ever when using handhelds (and is very expensive too).

I must admit I prefer it all in one thread, but then I also prefer it when people post the pictures in their report rather than just a link (I don't really want to wade through all their photos, but do like to see a few relevant ones as I read along :) ).

I wouldn't go so far as to say it annoys me when people post separate threads, though!

It seems like you'll never please everyone! :rotfl:

Just shows we all like different things/do things differently....

Agreed, but this thread has made me wonder if I wasted my weekend when there was probably more important things to do. I thought pairing down my 2500 photos, showing some of the more interesting facets, alternative things to do in the area, updates to the resort, food items, and the live entertainment would be of interest and a service to the fan community.:confused3

I know my wife would be happier if I didn't do it.

I don't think you wasted your weekend at all. It was lovely reading your TR, but I still have one more part to read.... :goodvibes

I don't think it was a waste of time.

What I try to do is upload all my photos to my online gallery, which are the ones linked through my signature.

When I write my trip report, I try to add in a selection (although admittedly I do get a little carried away with these!), for those people who don't want to wade through a huge number of photos, but those who do are able to do so :thumbsup2

As for my single vs. multiple thread opinion, I personally write mine as multiple threads, with intention of having them added in sequence in the TR index if I ever finish writing it. I just find it a little tricky finding the various days amongst people's comments - I like the fact that with multiple threads, you know that you just need to read the top thread. However, I don't mind hunting for them if that's how people like to write their TR's :thumbsup2

Dave, this was not directed to you, I just wanted to vent about something, it doesn't mean everyone has to change his/ her posting now.

I personally like to put the pictures into my trip report rather than linking them as it just feels like the report and pictures meld together better.... Plus, I think its nice to be able to see what people are talking about. As well, there are some links I'm unfamiliar with and don't feel happy clicking on to look through photos.....

I also favour the seperate threads approach, but thats more to split things up, as I think when its all in one thread it can be quite hard to keep track.

I prefer to do mine separate as well as its easier to answer questions and comments etc
Ive also tried to read some very long ones on other boards with millios of comments between each day and find it hard to find each day. Sometimes I like reading comments as well but there are times I like goingback to reread reports and just like reading the trippie itself

I get you point about photos but there are some I dont want posted for all to see so dont want to post my whole albumn plus I feel the pics relate to the story being told

I agree a separate page is needed

I'm not bothered either way!

I do like it when TRs have links on there first page to the next installement, i find it easier to navigate :) I'm a big fan of the TR boards.

I think I prefer seperate TR threads, makes it much easier to cut down in chunks and read.

Although I agree a seperate board just for TR alone would make searching much easier, or a seperate heading under each trip report to say anything special about this particular day compared to the rest, ie

Trip Report Day One
Annettes and DLH Cockatails

Trip Report Day Two
Paris and Fireworks

Trip Report Day Three
Cafe Mickey

If your looking for particular areas of interest that would make things more simpiler .

However I read almost all the trip reports that come in, so it doesn't bother me, only when im trying to go back and find one I read and have to go through each day to find it

Group Trip Report Hug People

I love the TR's just the way they are but still think we need a seperate board for posting them too.
