Had a great time first time stay at VWL (We are BW lovers). I am just going to break this down into some random observations.

- We absolutly love the whole BW area so the Mrs was mad that I even booked VWL. That said the resort was wonderful. Very classy with incredable charm. Only drawback - it is a little in the middle of no-where (but I am sure that you like it that way)

- Bus transportation seemed great compared to BWV or BCV

- Princess breakfast was not worth all the hype and cost

- Restaurants at VWL are great (WCC is the best)

- Meal discount plan is nice but I always feel that I am getting ripped off. The places that I like are not as expensive as some of the other restaurants (I keep thinking I could be saving even more money)

- Everest is Excellent. We all loved it.

- Contemprary does not seem to be happening. Drove down STOL and trust me IMHO nothing is going on now

- At least one CM was hyped that DVC is going to be building lots of new resorts soon (Hawai, Colorado, California, Contemporary...)

- Member meetings are stupid. Need to treat us like adults not 3 year olds. Not worth the time the way that they are organized now.

- Cape May's Rocks

- Nemo is a great ride for kids under 8 (not bad for adults either). Both DS (4 and 8) loved it.

- I missed the second balcony in 1BR's

- One suggestion for VWL. Cut down some trees so I can see the lake better

Again, really impressed with VWL. Top 10 things about the resort:
11 - Realy fast elivators (OK there are 11)
10 - BIke paths/walking paths
9 - Boat Light show at night
8 - The Railroad (spike) room
7 - Cool style rooms
6 - Boats to Contempory and WCG
5- The class with all the stone in every lobby
4 -Fast boats to rent
3 - Restaurants are great
2 - The beach
1 - The lobby of course

I liked your report. Candid and to the point! :thumbsup2

You're right...being in the middle of nowhere is part of the charm of the resort. It is actually a restful haven from a hectic WDW.

And please, don't cut down the trees! There are many less of them than there were before the hurricane and those trees are an important part of the ambiance of the resort. YMMV :)

Thanks for the great report. I say leave the trees to though. Coming around that corner and seeing that resort for the first time hidden in the trees is part of what makes it so special to me and I really think it would take away so much from the resort to remove them for a lake view.

Glad you had a great time,
Lori

We were at VWL at about the same time!

I am glad you had such a great time. But I do have to disagree with you about the trees. Omgosh - do NOT cut them down just so a afew could see the lake better. The trees are such a part of the charm of the WILDERNESS Lodge.

Who'd have thought us VWL lovers would be such a bunch of tree huggers!! :rotfl2:
