Trip Report / Vero Beach

My family just got back from Vero Beach. This is our second annual trip to VB over fall break and we just loved it. The weather was great, we couldn't have asked for any better days. The resort was not crowded at all. Last year was much more crowded, while this year we often had the entire pool to ourselves. We were only there three nights so we stayed in an Inn Room to save on points and to enjoy the ocean view. Our room (2424) was a little on the small side compared to our room last year. The ceiling was sloped which made it feel even smaller and the closet was pretty skimpy due to the pitch of the roof. But, we weren't really in the room that much, so it didn't bother us. Also, we have gotten used to the spacious1 BR villas and as we all know - it's hard to "go back"! We had Sunday Brunch at Sonya's and it was great. A little expensive for our kids who would rather have poptarts, but DH and I enjoyed our meal a great deal. After the huge brunch, we weren't too hungry at supper so we had pizza and salad from Bleachers. It was a new deal they had just begun offering. You could order 16 inch pizzas and pick up to take to your room or get a family meal with 4 salads, 4 drinks and 1 16 inch pizza. It was a nice alternative to going out!

We did eat at Hurricane Harbor and Capt. Hirams while there and also at Shutters for lunch one day. The crabcakes at Capt. Hirams were great, worth having the next time we go!

We drove to Cape Canaveral for the shuttle launch and that may have been the highlight of the trip for me and DH. Friends of ours staying at VB said they just watched from the beach at Vero, but we liked being close. That was an added bonus for the trip since the launch was postponed from it's original scheduled date.

All in all, it was a great trip. I highly recommend a trip to Vero Beach for some well deserved down time!

Thanks for posting your trip report!! We love VB. We discovered Capt. Hiriams in August and ordered the crab cakes they were sooo good. We all agreed we would return every trip!!!
