While I am not the Bride of this DFTW Trip Report, I am the older sister and MOH. I thought I would share my side of the story. I am finally getting around to getting my TR together and typed up.
The Bride is my younger sister Kammie, known on these boards as 2BWEDDNDIS.
Her wedding was held on Tuesday June 20, 2006 at noon in the Wedding Pavilion. The reception followed at 1:30 p.m. in the St. James Hall and Patio at the Board Walk.
(Since I am typing up this tr mainly for myself and my mom, I will try to make sure that I notate who the people I am talking about are.)
Pre Trip—Wednesday June 14, 2006
“What I Did Before We Left”

(A little background:
Mom and Dad: (aka Karen and Dennis) married for almost 28 years-love Disney World!
Danaile, Kammie and Katie: The three girls listed in birth order-parents have been taking them to WDW since 1993 (27, 23, 20)
Eric: Kammie's Fiance, have been dating four years (28, almost 29). )

I stayed up until 3 a.m. laying everything out that I would need to pack and making a packing list. At about 1:30 a.m. my neighbor’s boyfriend revved up his car and left for work. At about 2:00 a.m. I heard a vehicle pull up and rev their engine for ten minutes or so at which time I closed my bedroom door and turned off all the lights in the apartment. Late night always makes me paranoid. After doing the last of the laundry and seeing the list looked complete, it was finally off to sleep. I woke up excited at 7 a.m.-great only four hours of sleep-oh well, plenty of time to sleep on the long car trip tomorrow.

Went ahead and ran to the mall to get Disney Dollars at the Disney Store. I was going to get the dollars when we checked in at Disney, but decided I had enough time to get it done before hand. Got back home and put the Disney Dollars that were specially bought in 1’s, 5’s and 10’s into my pre-made envelopes. Made sure that all documents and itinerary that needed to be printed were. Packed and made sure that everything was checked off the list as it was packed. Watched some Buffy episodes as I worked along. Cleaned up the kitchen and bathroom. Ran the trash out to the trash bin outside. Checked e-mail accounts and sent Grandma S(our dad's mom, the only grandparent that attended the wedding) an e-mail birthday card for her birthday tomorrow. Then vegged out for awhile while reading the DISboards. Before I know it, it is about 4:30 p.m. I start loading up the car. I had to make three trips down three flights of stairs of stuff I was bringing, and I’m off for Mom and Dad’s. My Mickey tote and Baggallini (one of my best pre-trip purchases!):
They were just finishing eating pizza. I went ahead and ate two slices. Kammie (the bride) and Katie (our youngest sister, and the other MOH) were off to Super WalMart. While the girls were out, Grandma came over to find out what she would need to do for the house. She was going to take over dog and house sitting for Grandma and Grandpa B (my mom's parents who could not attend due to health issues) when she got back from WDW. I tried to play with Peanut (our family dog-a maltese) so she’d leave Grandma alone and stop clawing her legs. We gave Grandma her birthday cards from all of us, which included Disney Dollars from Mom & Dad’s and mine. Daddy had gone to bed and Grandma left. The girls soon came home and Sue (our dad's sister/our aunt) & Gabbie (Sue's daughter/our cousin/Kammie's Goddaughter) stopped up to say good-bye.
Poor Gabbie was so sad because she wasn’t going to get to go to Kammie’s wedding and be her Flower Girl. They stayed for over an hour. We all got loud at times and woke poor Dad up. He had went to sleep in Katie’s room so he wouldn’t be disturbed in his room, where Mom was packing. He later said that he went right back to sleep.
After Sue and Gabbie left, Katie went up to her room to pack. Kammie talked to Eric (Kammie's FI) on the phone about meeting us at the house around 3:30 a.m. It was in the itinerary to leave at 3:30 a.m., but we never leave on time and Mom had already changed the wake up time to 3:00 a.m. Kammie and I watched some of the home videos from our 1996 and 1997 trips to Walt Disney World (WDW.) Then when everyone else went to sleep Kammie and I got on the DISboards where Kammie wrote a post saying that she was leaving.

Day One—Thursday June 15, 2006
"We Never Leave On Time”

(Background: We are usually very good at sticking to an itinerary--which I love making. When it comes to leaving at the scheduled time however we are always an hour or two behind, every year we leave for WDW. We drive down from Nebraska to Florida every WDW vacation. We are a close family and still love going on family vacations--we always have so much fun!! This year Dad's driving the van with Mom, Katie and I. Eric and Kammie followed us driving her car filled with wedding things. So we try to leave early this way we avoid some rush hour traffic in the big cities and try to avoid rush hour traffic at the end of the day in Tennessee. I also have made countdown calendars--stole the idea from our christmas countdown calendar--for every WDW vacation we have gone on, and so it's tradition now for all other vacations as well. Eric was excited that he finally got to participate in this countdown calendar.

Go here for pictures for the first two real days of the trip:

!!!

My brief synopsis of our itinerary for the day:
2:00 a.m. Get ready to leave
3:00 a.m. On the road
6:40 am. Eat breakfast in rest area in Missouri
11:40 a.m. Eat lunch at rest area after Exit 83 on I57
Can check into Double Tree Hotel at 3:00 p.m.
6:00 p.m. Eat dinner from a fast food restaurant around hotel
Set alarm for tomorrow for 3:00 a.m.

After midnight, Kammie and I read the latest installment of Mary626’s wedding trip report on the DISboards and then checked out the food porn thread. Dad woke up about 1:30 a.m. and said he had had seven hours of sleep-more than usual-and wanted to get things ready to go. He and Kammie loaded all of her things into her car while I changed my phone plan. (Kammie's things to bring: I also loaded the Wedding March and Ain’t No Other Man, by Christina Aguilera, ringtones on the phone. Made some credit card payments and then got off the computer. Thought I was doing pretty well for only four hours of sleep the day before and none so far today.
At 3:00 a.m. Katie and Mom got up and ready. Eric came over. We had to rearrange cars on the driveway. Mine went into the garage and Eric’s on the driveway. We all said goodbye to Peanut then moved the countdown calendar. We were finally on the road at 4:53 a.m. (supposed to be 3:00 a.m.—we NEVER leave for vacation on time!)
I remember that we drove past Kammie and Eric’s new apartment, went past Bezy’s Photography Studio, and over the first toll bridge into Iowa. After that I don’t remember much, just sleep.
Woke up for breakfast at the rest area in Missouri. Had mini muffins and shared a pear with Kammie. Eric pointed out that my “boyfriend” was there. He was a very tall guy and drove a beat up car that had animals painted on it. That I am guessing he painted on his car with regular (not car) paint. I gave Kammie and Katie CDs that had songs I specially chose for them and made on Walmart.com back in March. I had made a Disney PhotoMovie for Mom and Dad back in April with pictures from our past WDW vacations.
We listened to Katie’s CD and kept walkie-talkieing Kammie and Eric as they followed behind us. We stopped to get gas. Eric was really surprised and pleased with Kammie’s car’s gas mileage. We tried watching Napolean Dynamite, but Mom just couldn’t get into it. So we switched over to their Disney PhotoMovie I had made, and my van co-riders enjoyed it.
We stopped for lunch at the rest area after Exit 83 on I87. Here I ate a turkey wrap and bag of cool ranch Doritoes—yummers! We listened to my Jim Gaffigan CD which I fell asleep on 3/4s of the way in. I woke up to Katie’s Kenny Chesney CD with 4 tracks left on it. We also watched Katie’s DVD, The Chronicles of Narnia. Mom and I had never seen it before and it was a great movie. I read the book back in the 4th grade, but remembered so little of it. This helped us as we traveled through rush hour traffic (you know the stuff we were trying to avoid.) Eric had said he was tired and Mom commented on how Dad was eighteen years older doing the same thing.
We got into the hotel-Double Tree-at 8:00 p.m. Dad and Eric went and got dinner and dropped Eric off at his room at the Motel 6. Kammie and I went down to the business center to use the internet and computer free of charge. We conducted our “business” as there was no one else there. We both checked our e-mails, one at a time. There were two computers, but we only wanted use one in case someone else needed to use the other one. Then we checked in on the DISboards and Kammie let them know we had made it to Tennessee for the first day and checked other replies and responded to them. I then checked to make sure my credit card payments made it and were accounted for—still didn’t show though.
We headed back to the room where Daddy was back with Kentucky Fried Chicken. We all had our own meals—a chicken breast, bisquit and two sides. Mine had mashed potatoes with gravy and coleslaw. I then took my shower with my sample size Dove shampoo and conditioner—which Kammie used the other half of. I needed my baby oil, but Daddy would have to get it out the car, so I used some of mom’s nice body butters and lotions—ah the luxuries of not being home :) Dad went down and got the bag anyway—it still had all my other things and they didn’t want them overheating and exploding.
Soon everyone was in bed. Mom & Dad in a bed, Kammie & Katie in a bed, and I was in the corner in a chair and ottoman—not as comfortable as the one at Mom and Dad's! I turned the TV so I could see it as well. Mom flipped around and I asked her to stop on The Wedding Planner. Then she turned down the volume to where only her supersonic ears could hear the volume. Since all of us girls have done time on the phones at a call center, we don’t have great hearing like hers. It’s a good thing I know the movie so well and didn’t need to hear it.

***It's going to be a bit before I have the next day done. Since I blab on about everything (my family tells me that it takes me an hour to recap what happened in a half hour show for them), it takes me a bit to get it all down and typed up. I apologize now if it's too lengthy for your liking--but it's how I've always written. Then I'll also try to get some pictures added if you'd like as well. I hope that you don't mind me posting here on the Wedding Board, but the first part of our vacation is "The Wedding." :)***

Great report so far... You're not being too lengthy at all! I love all the details!

Looking forward to reading the rest! :bounce:

Yeah I am loving all the details, its great. Maybe I missed this, but where were you all driving from?

Day Two—Friday June 16, 2006
“Coming (to our second) Home”

My brief synopsis of our itinerary for the day:
3:00 a.m. Wake up
4:00 a.m. On the road!
7:35 a.m. Eat breakfast at rest stop
12:20 p.m. Eat at Visitor Center
5:00 p.m. Arrive and check-in at Grand Floridian. Get resort Mug.
6:30 p.m. Dinner from Gasparilla’s Grill
Get Disney Dollars from front desk
Take a monorail resort tour
Set alarm for 6:30 a.m. for our day at Animal Kingdom

I fell asleep around midnight, after Steve saved Mary from her run away horse. I woke up around 1:30 a.m., or so, and Wedding Planner was running again and it was back when Steve and Mary “meet” and have to dance. We were all woke up at 3:00 a.m. and got our things together and loaded up the van. I ran downstairs and checked to make sure the bills got paid and this time I saw that the monies were deposited and I felt better.
We were off at 4:00 a.m. to pick up Eric and got gas
. I rode with Kammie in her car to the hotel. We saw Eric peek his head out of his window and quickly came outside, I ran to my seat in the van. We drove around to the office so Eric could drop off his key. Then we headed over to a gas station. We saw a caravan of three vans with three young couples eating chips. To which mom responded, “Isn’t it too early to eat chips for breakfast.” And dad replied, “Maybe they never went to sleep and it’s a snack or dinner.”
As we got back to the interstate we noticed how great we would be able to see a movie on the screens without the sun glaring on it. So we decided to watch what I lovingly refer to as “Candy Cane” because I never can remember the name of it (Joy Ride). Then we’d walkie talkie Kammie and Eric using my truck driver voice. I fell asleep towards the end of the movie where Leelee Sobieski is getting saran wrapped and tied to the chair. I woke up for breakfast and found we had turned the clocks ahead one hour at 5:45 a.m.
More driving and we had to stop early for lunch because Eric had to use the restroom and couldn’t wait any longer. Though he never tells us he has to go until it’s almost too late and then we have to scramble for an exit. We entered the State of Florida at 1:30 p.m. At the Visitor’s Center we took the obligatory yet traditional pictures in front of the “Welcome to Florida” sign. Next we went inside to get brochures, and plenty of extras for Kammie’s new 1st grade class to use to learn how to read. We also enjoyed some delicious Florida orange juice. Then it was back in the vehicles. Next big stop would be at a Dunkin’ Donuts. Dad and Katie stayed in the van while the rest of us went inside to choose a dozen delicious donuts. We only get Dunkin’ Donuts on our vacations to WDW. Mom asked what kind we’d all like and she asked Eric—he didn’t want any. Mom bought two for each of us. We ate one on our way, Kammie took two because she knew Eric would want one later on. And she was right cause he ate it.
Then after the turnpike we hit the horrid rush hour traffic. This is where you move two inches every seven minutes and people swerve in front of you like maniacs. (We live outside of Omaha, NE--so when people from much bigger cities find out what are "rush hour traffic" is we get laughed at. But when you're used to getting home in twenty minutes and it takes thirty minutes--it's aggravating :) ) This makes it a little harder to keep the two cars together. We had to hope that Kammie and Eric could see us at all times and wouldn't get lost. Plus, for awhile it was raining like crazy as well. We tried to walkie talkie Kammie and Eric to let them know that it was mandatory in Florida for them to turn on their lights. We think that their walkie talkie was dying though, because we never got a response. We finally got to our exit at 5:57 p.m. And after having to make a U-turn because Dad turned one exit before the WDW entrance we finally made it to the Grand Floridian entrance at 6:04 p.m. Mom and I checked into the room where we received Kammie’s cake server set. I didn't have to get my Disney Dollars here because I did that back home. The bell hop was loading all of the luggage and Dad, Katie and Eric were going to park their vehicles and then come check the room out. Kammie came in with us and so I ran out and told Eric our room number. I had to repeat it numerous times because the poor guy kept mixing up the numbers.
We then hopped on a cart with a cast member who gave us a tour of the property before taking us to our building (8-Boca Chica.) We arrived at 6:23 p.m. We were in room 8309. The room was so gorgeous! :cloud9: The lamp with Mickey’s head was so cute. The wallpaper even was filled with the Fab Five as topiaries. The soaps and lotions beautifully fit the theme down to the White Rabbit cotton swabs and cotton balls. I loved the picture that looked like shelves filled with books, plates, pictures and other Disney objects. I had paid to have us upgraded to a MK view. We could see Space Mountain fine, but there was a tree branch that blocked our view from the castle and essentially the fireworks. My parents asked if I was sad that I had paid extra and didn't get the view of the castle. I told them no. The room was just so gorgeous and if they didn't pay for it I could never have afforded it myself--and thanked them immensely for the room! It was just so pretty and comfortable and they even had a whicker hamper for our towels! It truly was a magical disney experience!
(Sometimes I get a little camera happy in the rooms, something that most people don't appreciate--but I figure those on the DISboards probably would--so here are my slew of our GF room:
Eric and Katie finally came to the room after getting lost by going up in the wrong building first. Dad wasn’t but a few minutes behind them. After finding out that he didn’t have to help out making Welcome Bags, Eric told Dad he was ready to go to his room. Eric jokingly asked if his view at the ASMo would be like ours. I think we placed the hook in him for staying at Deluxe :) Dad, Kammie and Eric left and would bring some food and our mugs back to the room. Kammie was back within a half hour with a sandwich for mom and chicken ceasar salads for us girls. They were huge and delicious. I got an Alice in Wonderland Grand Floridian mug. Mom and Dad got the Captain Hook. Turn down service came by and gave us ice for our bucket and some chocolates with the castle on them wrapped in gold foil with the castle on it as well.
At 9:45 p.m. it was on to making Welcome Bags. Kammie separated everything into each family’s own group and then wrapped the bows while Katie got everything put into the cellophane bags. I separated the guide maps and stuck in the tissue paper and thank you notes. We finished at 10:43 p.m. It was then time for bed. Kammie & I shared a bed, Dad & Mom were in the other, while Katie slept on the extra bed/couch. Katie and I were going to Animal Kingdom right away in the morning!

LOVE IT!!!

The links aren't working for me though... do you have a link to the photo album? I would love to see the pictures

Thanks for letting me know the links don't work (since they do on my computer.) I'm making a photo album exclusively for DISboards and this TR. I will post it as soon as I get it put together!

Day Three—Saturday June 17, 2006
"Katie and Danaile’s Day ‘O Fun”

Only thing scheduled today is to wake up at 6:30 a.m. and be at the bus for the AK at 7:00 p.m.

Pictures for this segment of the journey can be found:
http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/hammy.../pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/hammyfruity/my_photos

Katie and I woke up at 6:30 a.m. and left for the bus at 7:15 a.m. At 7:24 a.m. we stopped along the way to take some photos around the resort. By the time we made it to the bus stop, the Animal Kingdom (AK) bus just pulled up. Katie and I were able to get right on. There was a guy on the bus who was cleaning his two very professional cameras. We got off and got in line for Extra Magic Hour at 7:50 a.m.
The first time we were in line the cast member said that because Katie didn’t have her room key on her we’d need to wait at the other end. So great, we have our park tickets but because only I brought my room key we can’t get in an hour early. Mom had said we wouldn’t need Katie’s room key. Got in another line, where Katie noticed people were using their room keys to get in. It was a different cast member so I thought we’d try again. I told her that I had my room key but my sister’s is still in the resort room. She said, “Well I guess that means you’ll get to ride Expedition Everest while she waits here.” Then she smiled and let us in. I can understand that they want to make sure that only resort guests are getting in, but it would have stunk to wait in line another hour to get in.
So once we made it in we followed the signs to Asia and made it to Expedition Everest. What a beautiful white capped mountain scene, very misleading about the scary beast that waited for us within. Once in the queue, Katie started telling me about the types of architecture. We were in line for maybe twenty minutes, and we had gotten in line at 7:20 a.m.
We loved going up and then shifting to riding backwards and plunging into darkness. And then that Yeti tried taking a swipe at our train, but luckily we made it through unscathed. Once we got off I felt a little woozy—because I do when rides go backwards, but was feeling great within 5 minutes. We looked around a little in the gift shop. We saw the Yeti handmitts and the binoculars that were disguised as the Yeti’s face. We left Everest and this time we walked at a more leisurely pace. Katie just wanted a chance to browse through shops which sounded great to my shopaholic personality. My slightly adventurous side wanted to ride Dinosaur.
So we trekked over to Dinoland and hopped in the still very short line for Dinosaur. As I was watching the preview for our ride it reminded me of Mary626 and her husband not trusting this guy. And how come, if it was so safe, he wasn’t joining us on our trip back to the Cretacious period. So after Clair Huxtable/Philcia Rashad and “that guy” gave us our “assignment” and safety instructions we were off. . .to another line. It took no time at all and we were in out time traveling vehicle. Katie just laughed and enjoyed herself. Now, I always ride this sitting next to Kammie and we hold hands as if these dinosaurs ate actually going to eat us as a hors d’oeuvre. We scream as the last meat eater jumps out as us on our right side (which is the side we always sit on. Silly girls never learn)! So I missed that excitement Kammie adds to the ride. I thanked our dinosaur as he held up the tree so we can escape under it back to the present time. As we’re waiting to disembark we noticed a dad and son in line waiting to be assigned to a time traveling vehicle. I pointed out to Katie how the little boy looked like Joey (our younger cousin on our dad's side) when he was about the boy’s age (four or five.) At the same time we noticed the boy flicking his wrist repeatedly like Joey does—self-stemming. Then he tried pulling his shirt up as his dad tried pulling it back down and leading him by his other hand to their vehicle. He seemed that he too may be autistic like Joey and we thought how weird it was that he looked like Joey also—since his condition doesn’t cause similar characteristics in people, like Down’s.
Once we were allowed to leave we checked out our picture and noticed I looked frightened and Katie’s face looks normal. We looked at some books and plastic dinosaurs and thought how cool they’d be for Kammie’s classroom. We stopped under a covered sitting area right outside of the exit to eat some breakfast. I had brought a breakfast cookie while Katie enjoyed her morning applesauce.
Now we were done with the big attractions and we could shop around. We walked down a small trail and found dinosaurs that were really hidden in the foliage, and at the end was a dinosaur lying on the ground with a gaggle of small children flocked on and about it.
We headed over to Outfitters where Katie pointed out two potted plants that were covered in rats and snakes. One of the pots looked like rats were escaping out of it while the one next to it had a snake wrapped around hissing at those rats. We headed inside the shop at 9:34 a.m. and passed a Cast Member as we were making our way in. I said something to Katie and referred to her as “Bug” and the cast member turned in our direction as if I had called her name out. I told Katie that she shouldn’t feel so bad because someone else has the same nickname. We snapped some pictures of the things we’d like to have. I found a cute baby blue t shirt with a collage of Disney love sayings and characters. Katie found a wooden carved zebra that only cost three dollars. She wanted to wait though, but we never did go back to buy it. I also thought the pink tee with the sliver glittered Tink that read “Magical” was pretty. I shot a picture of Lilo & Stitch plate for Dad. He hasn’t even seen the movie yet, but last year down here and it was before Father’s Day and there was a Stitch all decked out for the day so Dad wanted it. We all three (girls) got it for him. And so now I’ve made Stitch Dad’s mascot, but Dad wants it to be his favorite character—Tigger. For Christmas we got him Stitch holding a pointsettia and during our February trip for Kammie and Eric’s Disney Fairy Tale Wedding (DFTW) planning session I used my Stitch antennae topper as a stand in for Daddy in our pictures. So, now I tease him with Stitch, telling him I am going to give him the big Stitch for his upcoming birthday. But I digress (big time.)
Then I notice on the floor that there are critter footprints and take a photo of them. We left the store at 9:49 a.m. I look to the right and Katie to the left where she notices Stitch is, standing taking pictures and signing autographs. I tell Katie I want my picture taken with him. And Katie says she doesn’t want to take her pic with him, and I tell her she doesn’t have to, but all she needs to do is take my picture. This way I can put the picture in a Stitch frame and give to Daddy for part of his birthday gift. So she reluctantly got into line with me. There was a mom with her little girl in front of us and more people behind us. Katie said that Stitch could be going in soon and couldn’t believe I’d have my picture taken before the little children behind us. I told her that if it came to that I’d let the kids behind us before myself. At that time the cast member said Stitch would be with his last family before taking a short break. She told us we could wait a short while before he’d be right back, but I knew Katie wouldn’t go for it so we stepped out of line and headed for the park exit. We planned on going back to the room so Katie could take a short nap and then we’d head off to the Magic Kingdom.
We entered the area for the bus stop to take us back to the Grand Floridian. The cast member working there asked us where we were going and then made us move right up to the gate. He stopped every person walking by and asked where they were going. And even if they stated their destination and pointed to where they were headed to, the guy would direct them to where they needed to go. Then a lady came up to us and asked if the Fort Wilderness Campgrounds bus had just left and we told her it had. It was sitting there waiting for about five minutes with no oncomers before it left. So she stood over by us since we were at the stop for the Grand Floridian (GF) and Fort Wilderness. We saw another bus heading off as a mom comes running down the aisle with the rest of her group lagging further behind. She was waving her arms yelling at the bus driver to stop. At that time that Cast Member waved at it to go on. After all they do have a schedule to keep and I’m sure there were families waiting at the resort for the bus to come pick them up. The mom however was making a big stink about it. First saying how rude the bus driver was not to stop for them, and then yelled at her family for not running for the bus stop as soon as they exited the park.
A bus soon stopped by and the cast member asked where we were going and the nice lady waiting with us said she was going to Fort Wilderness, so the Cast Member (CM) radioed to the bus driver that he had three going to Fort Wilderness (FW). I spoke up and reminded him we were going to the GF, so he radioed that to the driver as well. Then the CM said we could board the bus. Katie and I sat together on the bus driver’s side and the other lady sat across from us. The bus driver asked if everyone was going to FW and so again I said we were going to the GF, and the lady said she was going to FW. First stop was FW and the lady disembarked, so Katie and I continued with talking about what we were going to do. We came up to the GF and the bus driver asked if we were going through the main building and we said yes. So he dropped us off in front instead of going down to the bus stop—how nice!
We started walking across to the main building when I heard, “Danaile!” So I looked left and saw Kammie. Drats—we weren’t supposed to see these people for the rest of the day :) And I had told Eric, as he left last night, that I wouldn’t see him again until the Rehearsal. As we met up to Kammie and Eric, Kammie told me not to look at Eric since I said I wouldn’t see him yet. Mom and Dad were a few feet ahead of them. They had all gone to Down Town Disney (DTD) to Arribas Brothers to get Kammie and Eric’s cake serving knife set engraved. Now they were going to go to the Magic Kingdom (MK) to get their Wedding Ears. Katie and I said we’d go with them. I needed to use the restroom, and so Eric chimed in that he did too. At this time we were already on the elevator going up to the monorail floor. I said I’d be fine until we made it to the MK, as long as Eric could and he said he’d be fine. We all jumped on the monorail.
We headed to City Hall and used the restrooms. I showed Dad the Barber Shop, where I had my hair cut for Locks of Love back on our February trip. He said he never knew or saw it before I had told him that’s where I wanted to get my hair cut for LoL back in February. I took some pics around where the riverboat usually was, but is under rehab for the time being. We walked along the water and saw Woody and Jessie taking pics with their young fans so I photographed them from behind. At this time it was already 11:08 a.m. We noticed a mom and her ducklings in the water below. They were so cute bunched up together. We were up to Splash Mountain when mom said she didn’t know we were going here and didn’t have anything water proof to protect her camera and the video camera that would be used for the wedding so she wouldn’t get on it. So I stayed behind with her and the rest of the family and Eric got in line.
Mom and I went to the Briar Patch Shop and looked around. I wanted to see how much a snow globe would cost for Elizabeth since that’s what she wanted me to bring back for her when I asked her what she wanted. The smaller ones ran for about $15, which was perfect. I liked the one that had Tink and then the castle inside the snow globe. But didn’t want to get it yet. Since I had my cell phone and Kammie had Eric’s I told Mom we could walk some instead of standing in the sun waiting for them. We walked a little further to where you could see people going down the drop. Mom noticed them in a boat going around the drop. So I began practicing taking pictures of people as they splashed down. But Mom moved three times as people moved out of the way. So I was still perfecting when I needed to click the button and when the actual picture would take. Then when I realized it was Kammie in the boat about to come down I had hesitated a second and so the boat was centered as it came down. Oh, well. As we walked back to where they would come out of the ride I erased fourteen “practice” pictures. A couple of them had been perfect, but there was no way I’d find the people of whom I took the pictures of.
It was about quarter to noon so we all decided to find a place to eat lunch. Our family loved eating at El Pirata and El Perico from our first few trips to WDW, but during our last few trips they were closed. Dad took us through Pecos Bills, but just kept walking through the seating areas. Soon we were in front of our favorite counter service restaurant in the MK. All the girls had the yummy taco salads in those delicious shells. Dad and Eric had burritos, tacos or something like that. After enjoying our TexMex lunch mom headed off for the bathroom. The rest of us headed back fully outdoors. I had Katie take a picture of me and the bride-to-be. Now it was already 12:27 p.m. and as mom was coming out to join us I took a picture of Katie leaning on Daddy.
We walked back along the plank walkway next to the water and I took more pictures on the return journey. We made our way to Mickey’s PhilharMagic—I love this show! Especially the yummy smells that are pumped into your seat during “Be Our Guest.” I wanted a picture of the poster at the entrance, so told Mom to get out of the way and then caught heck from Kammie about it. I snagged some pictures of the cute posters of the musical that were “playing.” Like Ariel’s Coral Group, An Evening with Wheezy-Now in it’s final squeak, and Hades sings Torch Songs. I asked if they had time to stop into Tinker Bell’s Treasures shop, since the guys had a tux fitting with Carolyn Allen’s in our room at four for the wedding. They said it was fine. While in there I went ahead and bought that Tinker Bell with the snow globe for Elizabeth (our younger cousin on my dad's side, and my God daughter :) ) and a princess antennae topper for Shelly (co-worker.) I got my little envelopes out with Disney Dollars allotted for each gift inside. The cashier was very nice and asked where I was from. When I said Nebraska she said we had beautiful countryside and asked if I lived by any farms. I told her I lived in a city outside of Omaha—more of a suburb outside of our big city. She said suburbs were best. She got a box for the snow globe and finally I was ready to head out. We stopped in at the “Hat Shop,” to get Kammie her Bridal Minnie headband and Eric’s Mickey ear top hat. Then we left the Magic Kingdom.
When we had our tour of the Grand Floridian the CM told us the fastest way back was the boat. So we took a boat back. We got back at about ten to two to the GF. We hung around the room until about quarter to four, when the boys and Carolyn Allen’s would begin arriving. Eric’s family were still driving and his dad and youngest brother wouldn’t make it to the fitting. Kammie said if they didn’t make it in by 9:00 p.m. Katie and I could take Mr. and Mrs. Moran’s spot on the Wishes Cruise that Kammie had scheduled as her and Eric’s gift to their parents.
Katie and I headed off to the MK once again.
Katie wanted to ride Space Mountain, so we waited 50 minutes to be boarded. Katie noticed that every adult escorting a child would have the child sit in front of them and then double tap on the child’s shoulders after the safety bar was lowered, whether it was for the child’s assurance or the adults, we weren’t sure. Katie was a trouper and sat behind me with the baggallini in her leg space, as I was afraid I wouldn’t have the room. I got to sit in the front of the space vehicle—it was pretty cool. When we got off—which I’m never graceful at getting out of and feel so clumsy doing so—Katie said that she never noticed that I laugh more than a scream like Kammie does.
We headed over to the Carousel of Progress—one of my favorite attractions in all of WDW. Some of our trips it has been closed and really bums me out :9 I wish that the 60’s and 80’s were added to the ride, cause it would be so cool to see the family in the psychadelic 60’s and then my childhood years of the 80’s.
Anywhoo, we then headed over to Transit Authority or People Mover. I took some pictures of our journey. In the car in front of us it looked like a pair of grandparents, a grandson, and a great grandmother. Getting off was a little tricky as the eldest lady was having some trouble trying to get off of the moving sidewalk, and Katie and I were trying not to run into them and at the same time not trying to get run over by the impatient people behind us. It was even harder for the poor lady to get on the moving sidewalk that takes you down.
It was around 6:00 p.m. that we headed towards the boat dock. One had just left so we knew it would probably be five minutes before another one. We stood next to a mom, grandma and little girl. The little girl was in a long skirt and a long sleeved sweatshirt she made me sweat just looking at her. Then a boyfriend and a girlfriend came up behind a grandma, grandpa, mom, little boy and girl. The mom told the little boy he always got to do what he wanted, and the grandma joked about tossing him over the dock, while the grandpa threatened him with it. It was creeping up on 18 minutes of us waiting for that boat. So the big family went off to take the monorail. The boyfriend told his girlfriend that there were alligators in the water. She said it was man made so there wouldn’t be any. They asked the CM and she said they were both right. It’s a man made lagoon, but because there are swamps behind the Magic Kingdom there are alligators in the Seven Seas Lagoon. Though 90% of them are in an area that gets no traffic. They are the reason that there is only swimming in areas where you can see the bottom and not in the murky areas—because they can’t guarantee people’s safety where they don’t know where alligators are at.
The CM in charge of the boats said that they had a new driver for one of the GF boats and so usually there is a boat to pick up people at the MK every five minutes or so. But the new guy was now docking at the Poly and the other boat just left the Poly. Sure enough here came our boat and the other one wasn’t too far behind, but he had to stay out in the water.
We loaded everyone in and headed towards the GF and all I could think of was the 10% of alligators that may be hanging out in the water with us. Our experienced driver pulled up to the dock and tied on the rope and then put the boat forward and backward until it was flush with the dock. He then dropped the rope and told the people waiting to board to wait until we had all disembarked. We got off with a young couple all dressed up. They had been brought to the MK dock in a boat by themselves, because they had got on a wrong boat earlier, so a CM drove them to the MK dock so they wouldn’t miss their AR.
They were a few steps ahead of us and stopped to look at the map of GF. A CM was passing them and asked if they were going to Citricos and they said yes, so he directed them where to go. Katie and I were impressed that he could peg which restaurant they were going to. We then headed to Gasparilla’s Grill to get our dinner and then head to the room to eat. We went in and Katie decided she wanted a cheese pizza and I thought that it sounded good. She thought we could get some chips to go with it, but remembered we had some from the road trip and we could just eat those. We stood by the pizza ordering area, but no CM came to help us—they just kept waking by. People were coming and getting their food but no one was ordering. Katie got fed up that I wouldn’t ask, and told her she had to. She went over to the sandwich area and asked a guy who was waiting for his food. He said his wife was the one who ordered the pizza and where he thought she ordered, which is where we had been waiting. She thanked him and pulled me back over to the “order” area. Now there was a family ordering in front of us. After they ordered we got up front again. Finally one of the CMs came over and said, “Number 24, right?” We told him that we hadn’t ordered and he apologized for thinking we already had. We got two cheese pizzas to go. We got our beeper and headed over to the eating/arcade area and talked about what had just happened. With in like three minutes the buzzer went off and we went up and got our pizzas, filled up our mugs, and headed to check out. I wanted Mickey Ears ice cream bar, so did Katie and I got one for each of us. After we paid and left out the building I asked Katie if she would like to eat outside, but we decided to eat back at the room.
We made it back to the room and Mom and Dad were resting on their bed and Kammie and Eric were resting on the other bed. Katie and I didn’t expect anyone to be in the room. They had all gone to Kona Café for dinner, so I was a little upset that no one had called my cell to see if Katie and I would have liked to eat there too. So I took my food out on the deck and enjoyed the view while enjoying my pizza. I wanted to get eating on my ears before they melted so I skipped the chips. Dad came outside and watched the boats go by with me for awhile.
Katie didn’t want to go back to the Parks and settled in for a night of watching the Disney Channel. Mom was getting ready for Kammie and Eric’s parent present. Kammie soon got ready too—I asked if Mr. and Mrs. Moran had made it in and Kammie said they had. Darn I wanted to go on that boat ride, oh well :teeth: I took my fingernail polish out to the deck. I was going to put on fresh fingernail polish for the next two days—our Girls Day Out and the Rehearsal. Then I would put on a brand new application for the wedding.
I took my cell phone, cd player walkman, camera, and fingernail polish and went out to the deck. I bought the fingernail polish—which was actually toe nail polish by DuWop called Glass Slipper—just for the wedding (how appropriate for a Cinderella-esque wedding) and was excited to see how pretty it would look. I applied the fingernail polish while listening to a CD I had made for the trip which included some music from wedding movies I love. After I had done my fingernail polish I listened to more music and played a game (like Tetris) on my cell phone. I kept an eye out for the boat with my other half of the family on it.
I finally heard someone yelling my name—had the headphones on so it took awhile. I stood up to the railing and realized that the boat was small (pontoon) and my family was down there. I took a picture that you can see no one in and tapped on the door and Katie came out too. Down in the boat they took pics of us. They told me later that it looked like I had been hiding away from them and not responding. Then they motored away.
A little while later I came back in the room—my nails still tacky from the humidity outside. I gave them a few minutes inside to de-sticky and then jumped in the shower. I went ahead and scruch dried my hair so I’d be ready to go in the morning. Then I went ahead and got into bed. Since Kammie was spending the night with Tina (Kammie's friend from high school, Bridesmaid) Katie got to spend the night with me. We watched the first part of Saturday Night Live with the comedian Dane Cook (or something) and nodded off. Sometime, lots later, I heard Mom and Dad come in from seeing Dave and Mary and they went to bed as well.

Day Four—Sunday June 18, 2006
“Girl’s Day (into Night) Out”

What's on tap for the day:
MK All Day!
1:30 p.m. Be at the boat dock at MK for Wilderness Lodge
2:40 p.m. Lunch at Whispering Canyon Cafe
Extra Magic Hours at MK at night!

This was a very long day, so it will take a while for me to reconstruct it for you all. I do thank you for taking your time to read it though :) I will post the link for the pictures once I have put them together in an album, after I have wrote the day. This day will be in parts, as I get each written :) I hope you enjoy!

We were supposed to wake up at 7:30 a.m. That’s the time that I set for our wake up call from Stitch and Mickey. However, it wasn’t until 8:10 a.m. that Mom actually woke us up. She said that when the phone rang, which somehow she always gets on the first ring J, and she answered that Katie and I both said we were awake and getting up. Neither of us recall that transpiring, otherwise we figure we would have gotten up. It didn’t really matter anyways as Kammie and Tina, who had maybe only two to three hours of sleep, were still waiting for a bus to pick them up at the All Stars Movie Resort. This gave Katie and I plenty of time to get up and get ready and then wait for them.
Since my hair was already done, all that I really had to do was get dressed and do my make up. I had bought some Glitter from Pout in Flamingo Glitz to wear for just this occasion. Since it was our Girl’s Day/Bachelorette Party for Kammie, I thought I’d go a little more glam than usual. I used it on my cheeks, and it gave some shimmer to them. I called it my Tinker Bell Dust, and enjoyed using it on the rest of the vacation as well. I also used some of my black eye liner. I was kind of afraid to use it, for fear it would smudge or start “drooling” down my face when I was out in the heat and just from the long day wear and tear. (In retrospect, I have to say that it held up very well, especially for such an inexpensive brand!)
I wore my pink and black Tink shirt that I had bought at Wal-Mart before our excursion. I never really shop at Wal-Mart, but was in dire need of a pair of Khaki capris for Kammie’s bridal shower, a month before, that I headed there. I had looked and tried on at many stores, but finally found a cute pair at Wal-Mart of all places and on clearance. Then I saw the Disney t-shirts, and just had to have one. There were Pirates shirts, but they were either XXS or XXXL and larger. I love Tink though, and the pink and black, so I got it. Katie and Kammie were at Wal-Mart a day later and Kammie got the same shirt I did (without knowing I had it) and a Mickey Mouse club Tee, and Katie got the Pirates one (they had a new shipment of all kinds of sizes when they went) and the Mickey Mouse Club tee also. When I was explaining this cute tee that I had found and bought at Wal-Mart, Kammie couldn’t believe that she had got the exact same one :) Anywhoo. . .I was wearing Tink and Katie was wearing her Pirates one.
Around 9:30 a.m. Katie and Daddy were watching one of the World Cup soccer games that was on, as I finished getting together my Baggallini. I was busy making sure that I had my camera, plenty of batteries, my cell phone, our Advanced Reservation (AR) number, and my money envelopes. Kammie and Tina finally showed up after their long ride. I don’t remember exactly what modes of transportation and what stops they had to make along the way, but at about 9:50 a.m. there they were.
At 9:54 a.m. we presented Daddy with his Father’s Day card and gift. His card was one from Hallmark that played music. It had the beach on the front with a hammock, saying wouldn’t it be nice to live on an Island, and the song was by the Beach Boys, “Kokomo.” Daddy would so love to live in Hawaii, and then he could vacation every year in WDW! We all chipped in to get him a Hawaiian shirt by Reyn Spooner that had Mickey and Donald worked into it. He loves wearing Aloha shirts, Hawaii and Disney, so I thought it’d be a perfect match and then got the sisters to go along with it. We also thought he could wear it to Kammie and Eric’s Rehearsal Dinner, since it was being held at ‘Ohanas. Unfortunately, it was just a bit too snug and was a no go for the dinner. I also gave him an envelope that I made with some Disney Dollars so that he could get a foo foo drink of his choice that day. But this vacation Dad was really into drinking different wines, and I’m not sure what drink he did get with his money.
We were ready to go hit the Magic Kingdom. We jumped on the monorail, which would only be a short ride from the GF! Tina had talked to Kammie the night before and had said that she wanted to go ride Tower of Terror (ToT) and Rock’n’Roller Coaster at Disney-MGM Studios (MGM) too. She asked if she could get her one day park pass changed into a one day park hopper pass. I told her she could at Guest Services right outside the MK. She told me I was supposed to get the pass that everyone wanted. See when we were planning what to do for Kammie’s “Bachelorette Party,” us sisters were originally trying to come with something that would be fun, but cheap. After all Kammie was getting married, Katie was just getting done with college, I’m certainly not made of money, and it was taking much of what Tina had just to make it down for the wedding. I originally planned for us to go to DTD for a while and window shop, and then head over to the Board Walk. We could all share the Kitchen Sink at Beaches and Cream, and then ride around in the bicycles or go play miniature golf at one of the courses. Then Tina said that she wanted to go to a Park. She just couldn’t bear the thought go back down to WDW with out getting to go to a park, and who can blame her?! Around that time mom and dad were ordering our WDW tickets, and my dad’s side of the family that was coming. This way no one would have to worry about how to order the tickets through the Wedding discount program for Kammie and Eric. Tina told me to have Dad order whatever kind of ticket we were going to use that day, for her. Well, Kammie had her annual pass from her DFTW, and Katie and I were purchasing 10-day hopper passes. I talked to Kammie and she thought that we wouldn’t really have time to hop anyways and get it all done in one day. We decided that we would just go to the MK, and it would cost Tina about 45 dollars less this way. I also made an AR at Whispering Canyon at Wilderness Lodge, so we could get away from the MK and visit a very themed resort during our day as well. It would give us a chance to cool down and rest, but still have a lot of fun. So, needless to say, I was a little stunned when Tina was upset with me for only getting the one day hopper, since she had never put any input as to where she wanted to go or do that day. Off we went to the almost non-existent line at the Customer Relations shack. There she asked if she could change her ticket and the CM told her she could and did it for her. Now we were finally on our way in to the most magical place in the world.
None of us had eaten breakfast yet, so we headed over to the Main Street Bake Shop. We had never at there before and enjoyed looking at the offerings while standing in good sized line. There was an extended family in front of us complete with strollers and babies. And cute babies at that. Tina had a bagel, Katie had the famous cinnamon roll, Kammie had a turnover and I had a yogurt parfait. A table was open inside and so we grabbed it and ate there next to the Arribas Brother’s shop. I forgot to take pictures of the inside and of us eating :( There was a “Streetsmosphere Performer” talking to the group of people next to us. We discussed what we should that day so we would have some sort of a plan of attack. Since Tina had been to WDW once when she was very little and doesn’t remember that trip and then again with Kammie for their Future Teachers of America Convention in 2000, she hadn’t been to AK. I thought we should go there so she would get the chance to ride the Yeti and look around a bit. Then we could go to our late lunch ADR. Next, we could head over to MGM so Tina could get her rides in there, and then back to MK for Extra Magic Hours (EMH.) Sounded good so we finished up eating and catching up some and then headed for Space Mountain.
At 11:06 a.m. we got in line to ride Space Mountain. The line was extremely long, and I said we should get a fast pass, since it would be just as long to wait in the line as it would be for the return time. Then we could look around or go ride another ride (that’s my Dad in me :).) But, Kammie didn’t want to and said we’d be fine waiting in line. It was her day (boy she gets a lot of those ;)) so I stood line and shut my mouth. During the time we were in the line outside of the building, people kept walking in front of us like we were the cross walk. I am not joking, people would walk out of their way to walk in front of us. Even as we got closer to the building, they still crossed in front of us. Even if we stood tightly together or up against the people in front us, they would still excuse themselves on through. We didn’t really mind, just thought it was quite amusing. It must be our sweet faces :goodvibes , or whatever quality it is that our family of Nebraskans possess that has people asking for us to take their pictures or escort their young children into the bathroom. (That time when Mom was waiting outside a bathroom in the MK, and a single dad asked if mom would take his daughters into the restroom so he wouldn’t have to take them into the Men’s.)
Finally, we made it inside. I don’t remember much of the conversations we had. I do remember looking at my cell phone to see what time it was and noticing it was 10:30 a.m. On Sundays that’s the time the call Shelly at work and see how the day’s going so far. I knew she wouldn’t be expecting it with me being gone and all, so I called her. She called me a brat, out of jealousy, and told me to have fun and Kammie to enjoy her Wedding Day. I don’t remember the order that we sat in to ride Space Mountain, but I do recall being behind Katie this time.
During our ride, I could hear Katie “screaming” the whole time. On this ride, because you’re enveloped in darkness and no one sees you scream, she screams like an opera singer. She emits this high pitched note for the whole entire ride. I was laughing so hard when I figured where the sound was coming from, that for most of the ride I could never catch my breath. It was stinkin hilarious!!! :rotfl: As we got off, we all laughed at Katie and she took it in stride
Next, we went back to the monorail to take it to the Contemporary to snag a bus over to the AK. Now we just as easily could have got a bus at the MK, but we wanted Tina to get the chance to ride the monorail again, and see the inside of our favorite WDW resort. At 12:12 p.m. we were on the monorail over. Instead of taking the elevators down to the lobby, we decided to hot hoof it. The first flight of stairs, the rest of the girls went down the escalator while I raced them on the stairs. Probably not the smartest idea since my ankle was still on the mend from rolling it just a month prior from just walking down a flight of stairs in my apartment building. The next and last set of stairs, Kammie and I ran down the flight of stairs against Katie and Tina on the escalator. We won and I had enough time to get out my camera and take a shot of Katie and Tina coming down. This is the shot where Tina is pretending to lick Katie and Katie is totally unaware. At 12:20 p.m. we were sitting on the bench waiting for our AK bus to whisk away.

Our time at AK

Unfortunately and I’m not quite sure why, I took no pictures of us inside AK. We made it from the bus to inside the park. As we towards the entrance, we noticed the bus location area, and found where we would need to go once our adventure had ended in the AK. After having no issues getting into the park this time, we headed towards Expedition Everest. Since Katie and I knew the way, we power walked to get to the line. The line was much longer than it was the day before, and the fast passes didn’t have a return time until after 6:00 p.m. Knowing that we would be long gone from the park by then we got in the regular line. It would be an hour and half wait.
There was a group in front of us with moms and gobs of children, that were asked to wear the official wait time red necklace. The wait time red necklace is given to a person as they enter the official queue, by a CM. The CM records the start time on it. When that person in line makes it to the actual ride, they give it to the CM seating them. The CM then enters the end time. This way they can find out how long the actual queue is and adjust the wait time sign outside of the ride accordingly. There is an alarm that goes off every so often alerting a CM to do this.
There was also a group of younger couples and their children in front of us as well. One of the children was only about one or two and wouldn’t be able to enjoy the ride, and were in a stroller as well. The CM at the front of the line instructed the group that the stroller would need to stay outside and that the young one would not be able to ride. One of the mothers asked how to do the baby swap. Her husband misunderstood the CM, and told his wife she would need to wait outside of the line. About ten minutes into our wait she came excusing herself through the line, telling her husband that she needed to be in line with them and explain that they needed to do a baby swap when they actually got to the ride. Tina said that she noticed a lot of people that just went through the line excusing themselves saying that they were trying to get to their family member/friend further down the line. She said we should all just excuse our ways to the front of the line and pretend that our person had just got on the ride and was on their way.
As we sweated through the line, we got to the area where we were completely in the sun and away from any cool air. The kids with the wait time necklace were climbing up into the grassy hill behind us, along with a little girl from a family further ahead of us. Now the grassy hill is not part of the line, and I'm pretty sure that no one is supposed to be up there, but there they all are running around and screaming like crazy. They go up to the fence, that is thankfully there, and are looking at something. The little boy who was actually in charge of the wait time necklace, comes back down to his mom and says he can see a water ride (Kali River Rapids.) He and the other kids want to leave this ride line (which we had been in for about 45 minutes now) and do that instead. So the moms say okay and they all walk outside of the ropes to leave the attraction. Meaning that they left where there was no CM, and didn’t return the red necklace. I couldn’t believe it, oh well!
The little girl who was also patrolling the grassy knoll was trying to get another little girl to come up and play with her. Soon the little girl was crying, and we saw her dad walking up on the hill looking for something she lost. Pretty soon we had almost made it back into the supply hut and stood by the water fountain. Tina told us how gross it was to drink from a water fountain and how many germs were hanging out on the mouthpiece. The girl behind us agreed with her, as her boyfriend went for a drink. She and Tina were both disgusted, but it seemed to please the guy.
After over an hour and a half we were boarding our train. I believe that Kammie and Tina sat together, while Katie and I once again shared a train cab. We told the girls to be careful on that first jaunt up, because yesterday it kind of snapped forward and jerked us front and then slammed our backs back. It didn’t happen this time, but better to be prepared than not. Tina and Kammie loved the ride, and looking around for a bit in the shop.
We know now that we are not going to make our AR at Whispering Canyon. Kammie knows that the next park we are going to is MGM, so she asks for my cell to make an AR there for dinner. She asks us where we’d like to go and like always we all say, “I don’t care, where do you want to eat.” So, she gives us a choice of either 50’s Prime Time or Sci-Fi. We decide that since she and Tina had ate at 50’s on their convention trip, that we’d eat there. Kammie made the call but they didn’t have any openings until after 9:00 that night, which would be too late. She asks instead about Sci-Fi, and they have one at 4:05 p.m. Since that was the last available time until after 8:00 p.m., Kammie takes that one. I estimated how long it would make it to our next attraction in the AK, the time for the line, the time for attraction itself, time to get out of the park, time to wait for the bus and the ride, to get into MGM, and how long to get/find the restaurant.
Tina wanted to go on Kilimanjaro Safari, and I had wanted to ride Dinosaur with Kammie. With the amount of time we had if we went to Dinosaur and it was a twenty minute or less wait, it would fit perfectly into the time table. Us sisters knew there would be a longer wait at Kilimanjaro, and the ride would last way too long for us to make it to the Safari. The decision was made, based on time, and we headed toward Dinosaur. Tina was a little miffed because she wanted to go on the Safari to see a hippo. Now maybe if when we entered the park, we found the wait time and fast pass times for Kilimanjaro and Expedition Everest, we may have been able to grab a fast pass for Kilimanjaro while we waited and rode Everest and then got right onto Kilimanjaro. But since that didn’t happen we had to make do with plan we had.
We made it to Dinosaur where the wait time listed was exactly 20 minutes, how awesome! There was a young grandma and grandpa, daughter and granddaughter in front of us. The grandpa was in a ECV from the park. Tina told us how we all could use one of those at this time. My feet actually weren’t hurting though. In fact they hadn’t hurt at all yet (and wouldn’t this entire trip) and I was wearing my black Teva’s. It was another purchase I had made prior to the vacation based on reviews from the DISboards. I hate wearing thongs, because of the piece that goes between your toes. And last year I wore thongs just on our “relaxation” day and my feet hurt, cause the soles are so hard. These Teva ones however are soooo comfortable my feet never ached. I never wore the tennis shoes (which I wear on every vacation, and always have sore feet by the end of the day) that I had bought/brought for the trip. And at the end of this day, I thought of how resilient my feet felt and thought of the Seinfeld episode where Elaine had to come up with the story for her Himalayan walking shoes.
Anyhoo. . .As we are going through the queue, every where there was a corner/turn in the line the guy could never make it around it. The daughter just kept apologizing to everyone behind him. Finally he would just put his legs down and pick up the ECV and turn it that way. Now I’m not sure exactly what conditions people who ride around in ECVs usually have; but it seemed a little weird to me that he was riding on it, but used his legs to brace himself to pick it up and move it. Seems if you have that kind of strength then maybe you don’t need it? So every time he came to a turn that’s what he would do. It seemed to take him longer to get through the line then if he just walked it. But I don’t know his condition and can’t say whether or not he did or did not need the mode of transportation.
We were soon boarded in the time traveling vehicle making sure we were buckled in tight. I was sitting next to Kammie and soon we were screaming and digging our fingernails into each other. Ahh, the fun that Disney brings us :) And then came the big carnivore and the bright light of the picture being snapped. When we got off Tina asked if brought back the dinosaur, and so we showed her on the monitor that we had. We went and looked at our picture. Katie and Tina enjoying the ride, and Kammie and I horrified! Then we left the park.
As we made it to the MGM bus line, the bus just departed. We got in line so we’d be first and the other three girls sat on the ground. I found it funny that Tina would sit on the cement but had issues with the germs on the water fountain. So there we were at 3:26 p.m. waiting in line to leave AK. There were many people behind us sitting on the ground too. Before the bus arrived more people showed up for the line, but actually were lining up on the curb, outside of the ropes. When the bus arrived and we could board, one of the members of the group told the rest of them to let us get on first.
