Trip Report - Part of Planning?

I have been thinking of my trip and how I have only been a part of the community for a short time but nevertheless, I will be taking the DIS boards with me. I'll be thinking like a DISer, noticing stuff regular people glaze over because I know that SOMEONE will ask the question that maybe only I can answer. This train of thought lead me to thinking about trip reports.

I was just wondering, how many DISers add (pre)TR as part of their planning? I mean do you take pictures with your TR in mind? Or maybe write the important info down in a journal every night? Do you write your pre-trip report before you leave? What does a good trip report consist of? And how often do they actually get finished? :rotfl:

I know this isn't EXACTLY on the topic of planning, so Mod, move it if you feel it doesn't fit but I thought of it as a sub category made especially for DISers. :goodvibes

A pre-trip report is a good way to keep your thoughts organized as you plan your trip. You can add threads as you feel like it and it is a good place to refer to when you can't remember if you have something on your list.

Lots of people read them and don't post, but I don't think it makes a difference. For me it is just a place to write down what is happening and a way to take things off my mind and keep things organized. Although, I haven't started one for this trip, not sure if I will, either. :confused3

Trip reports are fun ways to re-live your DLR experience and add pictures of what you did and where you went. They can also help other DISers if they have questions about crowd levels at different times of the year. Plus, it's fun to look back at what you did and what you accomplished in your time at DLR and it also helps if you can't go again soon, because you have all those good memories. :upsidedow

I thought to buy a journal to put all my thoughts and memories in because this is the first, and could very well be last, family vacation we'll have so I decided EVERY single wonderful moment should be documented to the fullest of my ability. :rotfl: Now, I can just make them electronic, which is awesome. Can't wait to have something to report!

Shannon got it all.

I know my actual trip reports are more fun to read than the nonsense before, but the pre stuff is really for ME. The post stuff is for me, and to have some fun and maybe help others out (I'm always really honest about the mistakes we make, which can help others not do those things).

So yes, I do pre and post reports.

Most of my record-keeping is in the pictures I take. But I also take notes; I bring small notebooks or a sheaf of printer paper folded up, something like that.
