Part Four

We strolled down to the Village in a leisurely fashion, as it was VERY hot :sunny: indeed. We had decided to go to the Rainforest Café, which we all loved. Going in my little guy was hugely impressed by the huge fish-tank, especially the Clown – nemo – Fish. I ordered the fajitas which came in a kind of cake stand thingy, and were absolutely delish. Dad had the paella, which he could only eat about half of [too much], and S had a burger [J just had chips and a bit of S burger. J didn’t want a drink, until he spotted the glasses, which had a button on the bottom which made the whole thing flash-multi-coloured – of course we added one to the bill. We thought all the special effects were great, especially as we were sitting right beside the elephants, and J was convinced they were real. We sat for quite a while over our food and a few drinks, as outside it was extremely hot, and we were enjoying the air-con. Eventually we dragged ourselves away, and had a look around the shops in the Village, picking up a few gifts and souvenirs. We tried to get the Buzz gun J had spotted earlier, but of course it wasn’t in any other shop. So off we went to the park again.

The park was very busy and full of what looked like French school kids on school trips – maybe they get a half day on Weds? Anyway, they really made the park crowded, and as it was so hot we decided that we wouldn’t do much else. So we went to Discoveryland, bought J his gun [so much for my anti-gun principles! :bitelip: ], and though we would look at the Captain Nemo walk through , since we were there. We thought this was a bit dull, although J liked the squid. [Oh, I forgot to say, I took J on Autopia on our first day – he loved it as he is a car freak, but I thought it was past its day, and a lot of the cars were breaking down.].

Anyway, we intended to go to ‘Honey I shrunk the Audience’, but no-one could face the heat / wait, as we were all exhausted. So, we decided it was home time. We strolled back through the covered malls to get out of the heat, did more shopping, and were home before 7. No-one was hungry after the Rainforest Café, so I got a night off in the kitchen, and we all had a few drinks around the pool, and went to bed fairly early, as next day we were off to Paris! :cool1:

Thursday - Munching in Montmarte

This was planned to be a day of relative relaxation. As we had all been to Paris before, we decided just to go to one area, and chill out. We even decided to drive! Thanks to a very helpful Tourist Office lady in DLP, my superior map-reading skills, and S secretely being French[ at least in his driving attitude :rotfl: ], we made it all the way into a car-park just behind the Sacre Couer without a single wrong turn, or life-threatening driving manoeuvre. Seriously though, the French drive like they have an hour to live, so unless you are confident don’t attempt this! My Dad could not believe it when he saw that the Sacre Couer was right beside where we parked! Anyway, we took a few shots over-looking the city, then had a look around the Sacre Couer and Montmarte, which is a very pretty [and touristy] area. After a stroll we decided to have lunch outside a lovely little bistro just off the square, where we had an absolutely divine meal, serenaded by a nearby jazz saxophonist, while J chased the little birds around the square. Bliss! If I could remember the name of this place I’d recommend it, as it was really good, and pretty reasonable too [about €130 for 2 courses each with a bottle of wine, beer, soft drinks].

After a while we had a wander back through the square where all the artists draw portraits. We decided to get one down of J – pastel in black and white for €30 – it was fantastic! We also got a silhouette cut of his profile, to match one I had done of me at a similar age – so I was very pleased with that. We were all full and happy, so we drove home, where my dad and J snored the entire way. We were back at the gite around 9, and went to bed early again to prepare for our last *sob* day. :hourglass

This sounds like a great holiday - very varied :goodvibes

I have to laugh at how different it can be - we always walk through the arcades to keep warm!!! :teeth:

Another great report - have to say that we have never used the arcades as much as we did our last trip - it was lovely to keep out of the sun!

According to our car temperature guage it was 36 degrees that day - no wonder us pasty Irish people were dropping - we're not used to that kind of heat AT ALL! :)

Maybe we need to go back in winter? ;)
