Part 3
Tuesday Chilling out
It was time for a day off my dad was wrecked not that he would admit it of course, and S fancied a lie in and some shopping. So, we got up late-ish, and strolled round to see the donkeys, armed with some apples. J found this totally hilarious as the donks made a great meal of the apples, as they do! Went again to the boulangerie and admired the bakery ladys truly magnificent moustache.
We then lounged by our pool scoffing fresh bread and apricot jam delish.
In the afternoon we stirred ourselves, and drove to Val de Europe., and more particularly the discount shopping village beside it. This had some great bargains unfortunately the heat had switched off the shopping mode in my brain, and I was unable to do anything except listlessly pick up, and put down all the bargains [WHY did I not buy those lovely red shoes, reduced from 270, to 70 WHY?
]. Dad did manage to buy himself a couple of t-shirts with the name of his newspaper column [hes a journo] on though, so he was pleased.
Anyway, on the way back, the call came up for, guess what, a beer!
So, we decided to have a look at a nearby village Villeneuve le Comte. This was very pretty, and marginally more populous than Marles en Brie, as it even had an open pub. This was on the corner of a pretty village green, overlooked by the town hall, where the clock had stopped at 12 oclock. [If anyone can remember the poem about the clock stopping at ten to three, and is there honey soon for tea, we would all be eternally grateful Im pretty sure it isnt Winnie the Pooh, although it should be!
]. Anyway, we spent a very relaxing hour here, J totally engrossed in a French comic!
So, we moseyed back to the gite, and found that our landlord had very kindly lit the barbie for us! S had asked his advice on how to use it that morning, so he had the whole thing ready for us! So, much to my dads amazement [ I think he still thinks Im about 12
] I rustled up a feast of sausages, ribs, chicken wings, baked potatoes, salad and sweetcorn, followed by ice - cream and cake. We also had a full sufficiency of wine, and retired, replete, ready for an early start the next day.
Wednesday The Big Push
We were all up at 7, breakfast, then out by 8ish. Got to Disney around 830, third row of the car park again, and off we went. J was so excited he ran the whole way up the moving walkways the ones going backwards of course.
We decided to head straight for Discoveryland, then planned to hit BTM before the crowds built up. J spotted the shop beside the entrance and made a bee-line for a Buzz Lightyear gun the first thing he had asked for at Disney. We told him we would think about it, as S had no intention of carrying it all day. We stood by the rope, and at rope drop made straight for Buzz Lightyear we were second in. This was good fun, enjoyed most my dad and J, but basically a shoot em up. Next, J spotted Orbitron, so I went on it with him he loved it of course! Next we bribed him with a cold drink to sit with granddad while S and I went on Space Mountain. I was bricking it and S enjoyed not being totally reassuring! Anyway, I thought it was fantastic! Although my ears got boxed a bit when I forgot to keep my head back properly. This was another ride I wanted to go back on, but Ill have to wait until my next trip! Next thing was Star Wars dad didnt go on, although the ride attendant told him he should. We all thought this was good J thought hed really been in space and thought it must have been incredible back in 1987 when it opened. Dad was kicking himself that he didnt go on it.
Anyway, it was only 1030ish, and the park was still fairly quiet, so strolled over to Frontierland, and BTM! Dad couldnt get over how quick and easy it was to walk around, compared with WDW. We saw the queue for BTM was only 20 minutes, so we decided to join it, and also grabbed Fast passes as we knew one go wouldnt be enough. Dad decided it looked a bit much and went off for a stroll while we joined the queue. And waited. And waited. About an HOUR later, we got on S and I thought this was a brilliant ride, but J was a bit scared, although he claimed he wasnt, the ride was just a bit too long! Anyway, when we got off we overheard the woman who queued in front of us meeting her husband. He told her that just after we had joined the queue, they changed the wait time from 20 to 50 minutes! Theres no way we would have waited that long. Still, this was the only major queue we had all week, so I wont complain! While we were on BTM dad had another go on the paddle steamer.
Dad and J found Pocohontas playground and chatted with the ducks there while S and I went on BTM again its amazing the stuff you miss the first time round! We decided it was time for an early lunch, so tried to get the train from the Frontierland, only to find enormous queues, so we walked. This was the case every time we wanted to get the train, so we never managed it. So, off to the village we went!
