Hi,
Okay, with a husband and 6 yr old, we ate at HoopDeDoo Revue. This is a hilarious dinner and children will love it!!! They single out both adults and children into their acts. It's an act with 6 adults on stage in costume and they incorporate using the audience to make you laugh, scream, stamp your feet, clap your hands and they give you a washboard for the family to make noise with your silverware
The place is cold so bring a sweater. The food was salad, FANTASTIC sweet cream butter on delicous mini loaves of breads, fried chicken, pork N beans, cut corn, ribs and strawberry shortcakes. If you book a 7PM or so meal, you need to start going there by 6PM and no later. We were already late so we changed to a 9pm seating and by the time it was over, it was well over 11PM. Not good for 6 yr olds but the atmosphere kept him going.
Crystal Palace is Winnie and Pooh and friends character meal. We booked an early afternoon dinner 4:25PM. It rained around that time so it worked perfectly to be eating and staying for 2 hrs. By the time we were done, it stopped raining for the whole night. I have eaten there many times for breakfast, lunch and dinners but I find the better food variety would be at breakfast time. Some of the meats during dinner are too dry for me to stomach. I was surprised they didn't serve french fries for the children but they had chicken tenders and mac & cheese. I asked the server and they ran right over to Casey's restaurant to get my son a huge platter of shoe string fries
They are very accomodating.
Rose and Crown in London(EPCOT) is still the same. We did the appetizer cheese/fruit platter, then the roasted chicken for me, I also tried the trifle for dessert. Still decent food but we went primarily for the Illuminations atmosphere everytime we book there. Usually with so much rainfall at night, if you are lucky, you get a great view by the showcase lagoon because all the rain scared the people away. We found a nice spot around 815PM for Illuminations at 9PM.
We also ate alot of meals at the ASMovies resort. My son loves the kid's breakfast Mickey mini waffles for 3.99. They serve them with bacon and I would spread grape or strawberry jam on the waffles for him. My husband loves the breakfast pizzas and I love their potatos and eggs but only if hubby bought them for me to eat with him. I mostly shared all my meals with hubby or son whoever had the most food. For dinner, we did a few individual pizzas, I love the meatball sub, my hubby loves the philly steak sub. My favorite drink using the mugs is a squirt of cream, an oz. of decaf coffee, one pack of Equal and filled to the top with hot chocolate. Mmmmmmm!!!!!
In the Parks now, if you order a peanut butter sandwich for your child, you get those Smucker's round, individual sandwiches crimped now. Can't believe they charge so much for something I know cost a few cents when I buy a case of them at my Sam's Club!
Also, I did buy a huge dispenser of spring water but really didn't need to buy it so big next time. One gallon would have been sufficient to drink only when we were in our rooms. All our ice waters were free just for the asking at any refreshment stations that has a dispenser for sodas. They won't turn you down!!!! I drank my heart out where ever we went and it was always with lots of ice in it
If you happen to do the summerland/winterland Santa mini-golf (next to Blizzard Beach there), they will give free ice waters too. You can also use your room key as a credit card there. My son loves mini golf and it's so well themed over there, we just don't miss it.
We ate our Turkey legs at both MGM and at EPCOT. Yummmm! Was 4.50 at MGM and 4.75 at EPCOT.
Also, if you are going to rent a car for the trip and want to buy at a market, don't go to the Gooding's market, sooo over priced! Find a Publix Market on International Drive(I4). I bought cartons of Hershey chocolate milks (there's also Parmalat milk cartons too) so my son still had his calcium drinks for the trip. I loaded up on individual cans of tuna for myself, some mini carrots and a few bananas and apples. I also picked up hubby's favorite 2 liter Diet cokes and a 6 pack of 24oz Diet Coke bottles so he can refill them for all the parks we went to instead of buying them. I was surprised to see 24oz bottles there
Also, because of our rental car, we took advantage of Sizzler's breakfast for 3.99 per person on I4 too.
Finally, we ate a breakfast meal and a lunch meal at the nearby McDonald's off of the ASMovies. They too, will take the resort card as a credit card. The hotel puts a $500 hold against a valid credit card so you can use the hotel room card as a key and a credit card. If you lose it, tell them right away, and they will cancel the card and issue you a new one. If you have a child and they make a card like they did for my 6 yr old, it will not be tied into the credit card but can only be used to open the door to the room.
