Just returned from a fabulous relaxing trip to Disney, Jun 7 - 14th. Stayed one night at OKW just out of shear withdrawl and 6 nights at BWV. The weather was wonderful, no rain and the mornings and evenings were still breezy and comfortable, Thursday and Friday were by far the hottest.

OKW-My favorite resort, what a disapointment! Thank heavens I had people who have gone with me before and have experienced it in better times, if not I would have been totally embarrased. Stayed in room 2732, I've never minded climbing 3 floors. The room was clean and in good condition. Two of the tables had water marks, but since no coasters of any kind could be found that's not surprising. We were going to Wolfgang Pucks for a late dinner and walk around DTD, so we decided to save time and make the sofa bed up. Wow! there were enough crumbs, crushed cookies, and mushed candies to make up 2 snack bags full, but not a problem went to get the vaccum, guess what no vacuum. Called housekeeping, explained problem, requested vaccum, she said it would be delivered to the room. Came back at 11pm, no vacuum. Called housekeeping again, guess what "there isn't a single vacuum available". I explaint the problem again and she says she'll send Housekeeping. 11:30 a knock, a cleaning lady with "no vacuum". She looks at the mess and calls housekeeping, speaks to her in creole and says there's a big mess, she needs a vacuum. On her radio I hear the operator respond, I know they've called twice, they are just going to have to wait till tomorrow. She says to me, they don't have a vacuum, and I respond that's not what she said to you, I speak french/creole/spanish, she said we just have to wait and that's not acceptable. So I suggest, you aren't to capacity, that's quite apparent, get a vacuum from another room. She says she can't, it's too late but she'll clean it up. She proceeds to get a damp towel and shakes off all those crumbs etc. off onto the carpet, you've got to be kidding me! She then goes to get the dust pan and broom and guess what, we don't have those either, or I would have done it myself. Now I'm mad and tired and I tell her just to leave. We make the bed, get the kid off to bed. I go in the master, go to turn on the TV, guess what, we don't have a remote for the TV, we're batting a 100.

Next morning get up, make coffee, shower, get ready to move to BWV, go to tidy counter and cups etc., no dish liquid or sponge. I guess the maids don't like the climb to the third floor! Made a quick stop to speak to the manager with my list of problems, she apologized up and down and asked what she could do, my answer was simply to make sure that whoever is assigned to building 27 for mousekeeping, give them a refresher course as to what's supposed to be in the room and send someone to follow up after them to check their work, because right now it's completely unacceptable and it's apparent they don't care. I always tip housekeeping if the room and service are good, they got zip a dee doo da!

Off to BWV

Jun 8th, Checked in to BWV, took a whole 10 minutes, villa wouldn't be ready till 2:30, went to lunch and afterwards to the clown pool. I had made no special requests, we were given a 2 bedroom 1113 & 1115, bottom floor (easier w/ a few groceries), standard view of the Lawn & treated to Fireworks every night. The rooms were immaculate, supplied with an abundance of everything, extra soaps, coffee, creamer, tissues, not one but 2 vacuums, it was the boss after OKW. The only complaint, something festered in the disposal, oohie! it was bad. I went out the door to find mousekeeping right there, they gave me a bleach kind of paste, I shot it down in there, ran it and then ran a load of dishes (yes, I always run them before I use them) and then the smell went away.

We got to the room around 4pm, couldn't get the kids out of the pool, they were like wrinkled prunes. Showered, yes the kids asked why, gotta get all that bleach off. Headed off to T-Rex for 7pm Res. Had a very nice dinner, tried a frozen Mojito, pretty good and the Pot Pie was fantastic (huge). Came back to the room, pulled out the sofa beds, Yeah, no crumbs! Things are looking up!

All in all, mousekeeping gave us fresh towels etc on Thursday, more soap and coffee than we could have used, they did the trash and the receycling, all in all a completely different experience than at OKW. Fantastic!

We fed the squirrels and the ducks every morning, there was also a nest with baby birds under the awning, it was quite nice. We spent the rest of the week at Disney Quest, Typhoon Lagoon, Orlando and Friday we did the parks. We ate at Spoodles, last minute, it was O.K. it will be interesting to see if Kat Cora's Cuzzina will be any better. We also did Bongos, Tutta Italia, a few counter service restaurants and Timpano's Chop House in Orlando (Sat Night). We went shopping to the outlets, saw the Blue Man Group (really fun).

As far as the parks go, a lot of MK is under refurbishment, no space mountain or the blue people mover (can't think of what it's called) probably because it goes into space mountain. Crowds and lines weren't bad at all, did Buzz 3 times, one fast past and twice 10 - 15 min wait. Did Haunted House, Pirates, Mickey's Philarmagic etc. 10 minutes, really not crowded. DHS was busy because of Star Wars Week-End, other than that it was much less crowded than last June both in car traffic and people traffic, plenty of empty chairs at TL.

All in all, a really great trip, relaxing, never headed out before 10am not once during the whole week. Never got a drop of rain. Headed back Sunday morning wishing I could stay another week!

Anyway, Next trip, week-end in Vero at the beach!

P.S. I still love OKW but they need new housekeepers!

Sorry about your experience at OKW! It sounds like they really need to address some housekeeping issues there. The last time we were there our first assigned room REEKED of smoke, and the only other 2 BR available was HA, which turned out to be fine. I wasn't happy, as it was the first time we had taken my parents along, but they loved it. We want to take them back next year with my aunt and uncle, and OKW is the perfect place, but I have to say I'm nervous about these bad reports lately!

So glad your experience at BWV was much better!:goodvibes A weekend at Vero sounds like heaven! Thanks for sharing!:thumbsup2

OKW is still my favorite resort and as much as I loved this stay at BWV, for the room OKW can't be beat. We'll be there again this October!

Oh boy Beasley... your report of OKW has got me :scared1::eek: We're staying 9 days 8 nights in a month or so, hoping to have a decent trip since it's our first in anything bigger than a studio! Hoping to not be disappointed. We're arriving early enough in the day I've decided I'm going thru the room with a fine tooth comb before we do ANYTHING. Then if there is anything wrong, I can have (hopefully!) enough time to get it corrected before sleeping in crumbs, or walking on crumbs. That's just GROSS!

Sorry it was bad, but thankfully only for 1 night! Hope your trip to Vero is heavenly!

Hi: We did an OKW, BCV, OKW stay at the beginning of May. It was just fine. I'm sure you will occasionally run into some issues; but that was unacceptable. I've always found the cast members at OKW to be great. Please don't worry over hearing a couple of bad things that get posted.
