OK - here is a trip report from our trip that was cut short due to the impending Hurricane Frances.

Marriott Ocean Pointe is a PERFECT trade for a family with young children looking for a beach vacation filled with plenty of children's activities. Very relaxing compared to the run around of the typical Disney vacation. The beach is absolutely beautiful, rooms (we had a 2 bedroom) were extremely large and comfortable. The pools are terrific. One day there was music with children's games by the pool (hula hoop contest, walk around the pool with maracas, pool games, etc.), one day there was steel drum music with exotic birds that the children were allowed to handle. They had ice cream sundae making, tie dying, water balloon toss, frisbee decorating, etc., etc., etc. There was a baby pool, playground (in the sand), video rentals, a concierge who can help with all dinner or other arrangements. My older daughter did an amazing scuba dive with my husband and saw a nurse shark, turtles, ray, etc and a dolphin jumping in the waves of the boat.

Unfortunately in the midst of our fun we had to evacuate the resort on Thursday due to the storm. Luckily we were able to reschedule our flight through Tampa and arrived safely home last night before all of the gridlock on the highways and the airports closing down (this afternoon).

I would highly recommend this resort as an option for young families. It may not be the most "equitable" trade out there, but very relaxing and a lot of fun.

Hey thanks for the report!! Sounds great! Is the resort fairly new and where exactly is Palm Beach shores? (is it right outside Palm Beach FL?)

We stayed in the "Sailfish" building which is 5 years old (the oldest building) - there are currently 3 buildings and they are building 2 more down the street a bit. I have heard that those 2 buildings will have their own restaurant, store, pool, etc and people can use either location for activities, etc.

We flew into West Palm Beach. The resort is actually located on "Singer Island" - you have to drive over a bridge to get there. About a 20 minute drive from the airport.

Sounds like a perfect family vacation! did you have to wait long for the trade? How many points? Thanks for posting...I love reading about different resorts!

This trade was 270 points for a two bedroom. This is how it happened. I had traded to a Royal Resort in Cancun and wasn't able to go. I asked what else they "happened" to have available for this particular week. They gave me three options of resorts they had in the system - I checked them all out and decided to give this one a try. My Cancun trade had been 270 points so these points were already in the system - so we just switched them over. I'm not sure had I requested this trade how many it would have been.

Sounds like agreat place to vacation!! I would like to try the Marriot in Ft. Lauderdale also. How many night did you stay for the 270 pts.in the 2br. Are you able to get any unused pts. back (hopefully)? thanks

It's so nice to hear that your liked Ocean Pointe. We own a 2 bedroom oceanfront and I'm always jealous of you DVC owners when I read this forum.

We love the beach and only trade to Orlando every 3 or 4 years so it was right for us.

By the way, we're still waiting for a possible trade to OKW for Oct. 30th.

Please send pixie dust. Thanks.
