PART ONE (Scroll down to additional posts with PS reviews & pics.)

Back from a great trip! Made good timing driving both ways (Atlanta), youngest had few tantrums, good for her since she is a little high intensity! We all got along well even in the heat and long lines. Made good use of our ponchos, decided a one bedroom would have been nice for that dryer! Nobody stopped me this trip. I was wearing DIS lime green on my fanny pack. Maybe another time!

BWV – Dedicated studio 4031, boardwalk view, five nights. Could see some of IllumiNations and Wishes, which was a surprise to me. Column under the BoardWalk sign blocked some of the view. Above games, so loud! Forgot to bring noise maker, but the view was still worth it. Every night after Jellyrolls closed I heard lots of rowdy people, enough to wake me up. Room appeared to be in good condition, clean and trash and towel day went without any problems. Kids found coins, hanger and a piece of trash lying around the floor after a few minutes, but this didn’t really bother me. Didn’t have a coffee table? But did have a daybed. Check in went well, very pleasant, welcome homes at every point. Kids got balloons, coloring books and even plastic Disney figures from valet. Huge difference from Pop Century the night before. Room ready early in the morning, but we had to wait for our bags. Who would have thought? Luggage transferred over from PC without any problems, but I did have to call down to Screendoor twice to get our grocery order sent up. It was also missing two items, but it is still a nice service to have I think. We will use it again. After I gave the kids a bath the water wouldn’t drain. Maintenance came very quickly, but it took awhile to fix. Right after he left the light went out over the tub! DH switched it out with another bulb. We never saw maintenance piping work being done in the halls. I’m so glad we didn’t switch to another resort. Everything looked fab, pool needs a little touching up though I think. Tiles looked dirty and everything looked like it needed a coat of paint. The slide was a hit with our six year old and our three year old went up about five times, but each time chickened out. DH saw a man pee in the pool and that grossed him out for the rest of one day. Towards the end of our stay here we discovered we were right next to the stairs and could take it down straight to the pool. And all that time we had been walking the long way around! I loved the whole BoardWalk experience, definitely up my alley. The boardwalk view is for us, though! The kids sat out on it every morning eating their breakfast. It had an open balcony. What is up with the cheap plastic patio furniture, though? Transportation stinks! Wow… We spend a lot of time at MK and this really was a HUGE pain. I never saw any dedicated bus lines going, always the full Epcot resort loop. I thought they were changing this? My oldest insisted on renting a surrey bike one day. That was kinda cute and a little fun. SAB had to close two days and they sent guests over to BW, but we never saw a huge increase in people. Bummer for those guests! My daughters wanted their hair wrapped so badly, but the station was only open at night on the boardwalk and it rained every night. We finally had it done at the GF. Never made the Member Update. Did check out Community Hall one night, though when it was raining. We also got a flyer in our room inviting us to SSR one day. BWV is now one of my favs. I loved the action! First class resort!

PC – We stayed here the first night and our last two nights. (We ended up adding that third night a few days into the trip.) Had AP discount, both times at check in we were never asked to show it. First leg was in 50’s, room 3418. View awful, looking at the unfinished Legendary Years. Check in told us we could see IllumiNations, but come nine, nothing. Then after we had all gone to sleep I heard bangs. I jumped up and looked out and behold the most amazing unobstructed view of Wishes imaginable. Wow… Course, my oldest immediately pointed out we couldn’t HEAR the music so she wasn’t as impressed. She is already Disney spoiled. We weren’t crazy about PC. I guess we are now spoiled, too. Oldest was disappointed there was no slide, etc. Moderates from now on for these first and last nights for sure. Last two nights we were in 70’s, room 6108, ground level. Yikes, I thought BWV was loud! Easily until two in the morning we heard teenagers yelling and screaming like they were inside our room. Finally, I got up once, dressed and went out to ask them to please be quiet. They were playing Twister. UGH. Actually they were polite, but the noise started back up shortly after. Kids liked this section better. The Goofy water pop jets were near here and they had a blast. The kiddie pool near the main pool is also very cute, zero depth entry in a circle, with water fountains. I had never come across a picture of this. Main pool was like human soup. Kinda grossed me out and hard to watch the kids. Food court was fine, but rooms so small. I just forgot how the values were and not a darn thing to read in the room. Also missed the kitchenette. I think I like All-Star Movies better. After our first night I tried to switch to a moderate for our last two nights on the end of our trip, but nothing. I learned my lesson. I was impressed with CRO, though. The CM even tried to get me a Georgia resident discount, but couldn’t find anything. She asked me if I had proof of residency, I didn’t even mention this option to her. Still got the extra third night at PC with an AP discount, though even at such last minute.

Both resorts our SaveDisney bumper sticker was a hit with the CMs. I did think the bathrooms were cleaner this time around. (I had sent numerous emails to WDW guest services in the past in regard to bathrooms within the parks.) Only once on our nine day trip did I come across a bathroom that was out of toilet paper. Every other time, toilet seat covers, toilet paper, soap and paper towels were filled. Definitely an improvement. Crowds became worse as the week went on. No problems with Gay Days crowds. Hot and monsoon rains every night around six. We could set our watches by it. First day we went to DTD to guest services to get our APs activated and ran into our neighbor from our street. That was really odd! Had fun stuffing the Potato Head box, too. Forgot to use DVC and AP discounts. Now I can’t say anything to DH about not using his cards on his last trip. I forgot each time! Star Wars Weekends was fun. Oldest got picked to be a Jedi in training and got to have a light saber fight with Darth Vader. COOL! DH bought her one and she still remembers the moves. Unfortunately, our video camera went amuck and ate our tape so we have no video of it. Still managed nine rolls of film, though! My youngest at three barely made the height requirement, but still managed to ride Star Tours, Test Track and BTMR with her chunky shoes. She is a thrill seeker for sure, so unlike her older sis!

Went pool hopping at SSR. Got there a few minutes after six and they wouldn’t let us tour the models. That was a little disappointing as there were still lots of people in there. Oh, well. The main pool was very nice. The baby slide was a HUGE hit with our youngest. She also tried the larger slide, but complained she got water in her ear tubes and wouldn’t go on it again. Pool seemed kinda small to me, though. It was creepy, there was only one other family at the pool. Resort seemed very deserted. Got a cute shirt from the store, looked at the food selection, very limited. But the decorations are beautiful. Walked over to Congress Park. So lovely! I would imagine this will become like the boardwalk view. Will they change this to more points? I would think many will request it. Cute playground, nice quiet pool, loved the rocking chairs overlooking DTD. But, wow the main pool seems so isolated from everything. This is really going to be spread out! Landscaping just beautiful.

We had at least one PS a day. A few worth mentioning –
Family Magic Tour, used our DVC discount, but still not worth the money. An hour and a half of hot, boring “scavenger hunt” that my youngest was completely uninterested in and sat in her stroller most of the time. We also had a hard time keeping up as the park was so crowded. The last thirty minutes picked up when Peter Pan joined us and my youngest jumped out to join the rest of the kids. He deserved an Academy Award for sure! Both DH and I agreed he must be exhausted by the end of the day. He was just fab! He took us to see PhilharMagic and both my daughters sat on either side of him. He talked to my youngest the entire time, helping her with her glasses, hugging her, etc. They became Honorary Lost Girls after it was all done. Fun at the end, but they need to work on the first part of the tour.

Cinderella’s Gala Feast at the GF, 1900 Park Fare is always worth the money to me. Love that strawberry soup! Always a fantastic buffet. Characters were great, wow that Prince sure was charming! Talk about handsome! Goofy was in the lobby with the Fairy Godmother and was a hoot! And the look on my youngest’s face when Cinderella was talking to her. Wow... they only have that wonder for such a short time. My oldest at six has already lost it. It goes by too fast!

Wonderland Tea Party at the GF was a huge hit with the girls! One of the CMs had a little bit of attitude with me when I mentioned to her someone had told me my daughter had a special seat set aside for her due to her food allergies. She actually told me – WHATEVER… Made my blood boil for sure! Sure enough, we got in and my daughter was seated next to Alice with all her food wrapped up for her. They loved it! I think this was their fav part of the trip. Worth every penny! DH and I ate at the Grand Floridian Café while they were at the Tea Party. Weren’t impressed. Never of us liked our entrée, but the crab cakes and desserts were good.

Donald’s Breakfastosaurus at AK was a bust. I had read bad reviews before, but it was one of the few character meals we had yet to try out. Just as the reviews mentioned, we were rushed, rushed, rushed. A matter of fact, when Mickey came to our table a CM asked us to be standing up and ready for a pic before he even came over. He was with us for less than half a sec, I barely got my camera in focus! On a more positive note, the chef was accommodating with the food allergies and brought my daughter out a nice plate with fresh fruit, etc.

Other PSs were at Sci-Fi, Garden Grill and 50’s Prime Time. They all went well and were enjoyable as always. Any questions please ask!

We did (almost) the same thing! About 15 feet further down the hallway, past our room, was a stairwell that lead down to the quiet pool area. Would have easily cut 5-10 minutes off of a couple of trips to MGM.

But, in our defense, the stairwell was PAST our door. ;)

Walked over to Congress Park. So lovely! I would imagine this will become like the boardwalk view. Will they change this to more points? I would think many will request it.

They would have to reallocate to increase the number of points, and that seems unlikely for a resort that just opened. Personally, I think it will become the equivalent of the "Preferred BW View"--same number of points as many other views at the resort, but you may have to be an owner at SSR to book at times.

People reserving after 1/1/05 have already reported MS asking them if they would prefer water view or "pool view." At this point, I doubt these are anything more than requests noted on the reservation, but I hope at least the DD view becomes a separate room class before long.

Thanks for the trip report!!! :)

Thanks for the detailed report, Shan! Sounds like a wonderful trip overall! Except.....your DH saw a man peeing in the pool???YIKES! That is awful! I think I would've been avoiding the pool for some time too!!!:)

You know, you always "think" about stuff like that in a public pool. But when you see it....................YUCK!!!

Thanks for the report! Glad you liked the BW. I love that place and can't wait to get there again in a few weeks.

tjkraz, that is confusing to me. From what I saw the quiet pool view is also the DTD view, at least it appeared that way to me at Congress Park. I wonder what they mean...

Yep, guys. DH saw a man pee in the Luna pool. He was just about to get in when he saw a vibrant yellow haze surround a grown man. The man then swam off and the yellow quickly disappeared. It must have been noticeable even from the lifeguard stand cause the lifeguard walked over and looked down into the pool where the man had been. Ya know, you just wouldn't except this from a grown man, maybe some kid. Geez... Hope he had a bladder control problem at least. I'm sure the chlorine eats it up, but it is still gross.
Anyway, I threw that tidbit in to see if any of you were still reading my long report or had already fallen asleep. ;)

Great report....
We don't do great with noise so we usually request view of parking lot, court yard or quiet pool area.
Unfortunately, my disabled dd missed the Tea with Alice due to an error made by Disney Dining CM. Gave us the wrong start time.
But thanks for the review!

I'm sorry to hear that tigger2on. Maybe you should give it a shot on another trip. My girls really loved it.

My assumption was that it referrs to buildings 5+ which will open in 2005 and are situated more in "The Springs" area. If memory serves, there are two or three buildings on the opposite side of the road that runs from the main pool to Congress Park. Those buildings would have easier access to the main pool, but lack the DD view.

Great report really enjoyed reading it. Sounds like BWV were just a hopping with action. The idea of seeing a grown man pee in a pool would of set me off. I know I would of said something to him. That is just disgusting. The water views I bet will be the highly requested rooms in the future at SSR. How long of a wait did you have at Mk for rides. I was curious if the lines were worse around noon or pretty much the same all day. Sounds like you had a wonderful trip thanks again for posting.

wisbucky, the lines were really long. I won't lie. :teeth: If you don't use fastpass be prepared to wait. They were long morning, afternoon and evening. By the end of the week MGM was even swamped and our waitress at 50's Prime Time even mentioned to us how unusually packed it was. I personally think WDW is busier than ever. It just looks that way, MK is PACKED.
For us, this trip we took it more slowly, less commando like past trips. If a line looked too long we just skipped it, with the exception of Peter Pan. Kids HAVE to ride it. After checking it out several days we finally got the fastpass and came back later that night.
We're going back next month with my brother who hasn't been in years. I'm actually dreading it cause I know he'll want to do everything. I'll probably end up taking our youngest back to our room and leaving the group.

I enjoyed all the sections of your report and especially enjoyed the pictures of you and your family! We were there about the same time, May 31 thru June 10th. It was hot but fun. Stayed at the Poly then OKW. Someday our paths will cross! :) My impressions of Saratoga were similar... It's lovely, just not quite "done" yet. When the whole thing is finished and full of guests it will be so nice.

Thanks guys. :)

colleen, I agree about SSR. We were thinking about staying there next April, but I think we'll wait. It was lovely, but I think we'll wait until it is finished.

I've yet to stay at OKW and hopefully the slide will be finished so I think we'll switch to there instead come the 7 month window.

You're, right. It was hot! Did you also come across those HUGE monsoons?!?

Thanks for the report Shan! We also just got back from BWV studio stay and had a great time.

I hope I wasn't in the pool when that man did his business

We did catch the rain a couple of times...actually missed Spectro our night at MK due to the heavy downpour...oh well thank goodness we have many more years due to DVC :teeth:

I also agree with your comments on SSR pool. I imagined it to be bigger than it actually is and it seems quite a bit away from the existing villas. I'm sure when things are more built out the resort will be beautiful.

Now there are those villas at SSR being built across that street... Maybe that will pick up the main pool area a tad.

Thanks for the great trip report. We are going to BWV in July for the first time and can't wait. The bus to MK was really horrible? We spend alot of time at MK and hope it will be better by then. We hope to spend more time at Epcot this summer since we will be so close.

What a great detailed report, Shan! It occured to me as I was reading it, why some of us prefer certain resorts over others. All of the things you loved about BWV are some of the same reasons we don't care for it so much. How great that DVC gives us all a chance at what we love!

As for SSR, I think it might be a compromise between the activity of BWV and the quiet of OKW. I will probably try it in the future, but not sure I will like the room arrangement.
