Well, we returned home after a somewhat disappointing yet fun trip at DLP. We drove from Germany and arrived at DLP at 2pm on Thursday. Went to check in for admirals floor to find out that our rooms were not on admirals floor :furious: We had to change our hotel from HNY to NBC because they did not have two connecting rooms available. When I changed the reservation, I specified admirals floor because of the VIP breakfast that I got last time (with 4 kids all under 4 waiting in a long line for food is not a good thing), at the counter I had to argue with the reservation agent that the people on the phone made a mistake, but luckily they had 2 connecting rooms admiral floor, and the manager said we can have the vip breakfast. (was also told that the vip breakfast is now only open to suite guests). We got rooms 5187 & 5189. All was well, except we asked for a crib (was not there) and the sprinkler in room 5187 was dripping water and I told the front desk 2 times and they did nothing to fix it. (My 2yrDD was coughing horribly all the nights during her sleep and we suspect that the room might have been infested with mold because the baseboard paint was peeling and the water has probably been leaking for some time) When we got home, she slept just fine!

So, aside from that and the rude people, we had a fun time. The kids had tons of fun (and that is all that matters to me). They love Disney and this is as close to Disney as we can get right now. (We are Florida residents and overseas because of the army). I don't know if we would return after this trip. We noticed a difference in treatment travelling without a man... (if that makes any sense) :guilty:

The lines were long, but with Fastpass we were ok. The character points are always chaos... people should learn the art of waiting for their turn. It would never happen at WDW (atleast not when we are there).

We did the birthday cake at Cafe Mickey for DD's 1st and it was ok... nothing special. And the tea party, the cake was chocolate and delicious but the buffet offering was nothing special again. It was fun, but no special interaction with any of the characters, etc. At WDW we did Cinderella's breakfast for my DD3rd Bday and the table was decorated with confetti and streamers, they had a certificate that all the characters signed and when they came and saw it was her birthday they were extra attentive to her. And they had a little cake for FREE!!

Anyways, enough about that.... the kids had fun!

Our food trip report -
Cafe Mickey - delicious as always
Annettes diner - take out - burgers bland and had nothing on them??
Bella note - ok Italian
Rainforest Cafe - good food great ambience, bad service
Tea party - delicious cake - but that's it
caseys corner - ok hot dogs
blue lagoon - delicious as always
auberge - my favorite - delicious as always (sad that they only had limited menu)
mcdonals- same everywhere.

It's good to be home... but I miss Disney already! :)

I'm sorry your trip wasn't as magical as it should of been. :sad2: Though it's great that the children still had a wonderful time :goodvibes

I can't say I noticed any difference - but then I was only there for a couple of days, and with only one child!

Shame trip was not as good as you had hope.
I agree the children make it all worthwhile :)

Sorry your trip was somewhat spoiled - still at least you enjoyed it overall. :)

sorry you did not have a magical time.

I hope the kids will remember the good parts.
