We started our trip with the kids only knowing that we were going camping. We arrived at the WDW and the kinds were asleep when we came through the main gate. When we started check-in they got up and saw the Disney buses and started going crazy. I think it was will worth keeping it form them to see the excitement and joy when they found out we were at Disney. We checked-in and went over to breakfast at Chef Mickey’s. The kids loved it and the food was quite good. After that we went back and set up camp. We were in 1510. It is a nice spot backing a waterway. This was the first time tent camping so it took some time for us to get everything set up. It was a very nice first night in the tent with the AC. On Monday when we were at MK there was a rain storm that caused the EZ-Up canopy that was next to our tent to collapse into our tent. I still want to thank our neighbors more for removing the canopy from our tent and securing it from the rain. When we got back to see the canopy destroyed it was quite devastating to see. But when our neighbors came over to let us know what had happened and what they did. It was up lifting to know that they were looking out for us. Our canopy was a total loss and our tent had some large rips in the rain cover and main tent. The Manages at the Fort tried very hard to help us fix the tent so we could complete our stay but it was too damaged. The managers did offer a tent they had for us to use but it was too small for our family for a week. We were able to put a tarp over the tent for the night. The next morning a manager called us to say that they would move us to a Family suite at All Star Music if we would like. So we moved over there. The staff at the fort helped us tear down our site and hauled off the damaged tent and canopy. They also took us over to the All Star and help get all of our stuff into the new room. The Suite at the All Star was much nicer and roomier that I expected. It sleeps 6 with a pull out couch, chair, cot and the master bed. The staff and housekeeping at the resort where great. We had left some of my son’s bottles in the sink when we went to the park and when we came back they were all washed and ready to use. I love that Disney was able to help us out even though it was not a problem they had caused. The kids where a little sad that we did not camp but we are planning a return trip. Thanks everyone from the board’s that gave us support when we were going through this and thanks for all of the advice we received before the trip.

That is unfortunate that your tent was ruined. Now, I am having second thoughts about bringing out EZup. It sounds like Disney really took care of you all though. :)

Thanks for posting your report.

It is nice to hear that the Fort management took care of you after your little disaster.

Hope you all plan another trip back to the Fort soon!

That was nice of them. The second day we camped we were in MK and it poured/thunder/lightning and when we got back to our camp late that night our dining tarp had snapped a pole -- it didn't go into the tent, though. The two smaller tents our DSs were using leaked as it continued to rain through the night (I woke up one DS and made him move in with us, the other two were so sound asleep I just cleared everything else out of their tent and put it in the van and left them sleeping in their wet sleeping bags on their air mattresses). By morning the campsite was flooded. Disney employees drove by as DH was trying to push the water off the campsite in the pouring rain. They didn't stop to help. Another camper, however, kindly came over and lent him a shovel and he made a trench to draw the water away. DH duct taped the tarp pole and we planned to go to Walmart to buy a new tent if more storms were predicted. But luckily it was beautiful for the rest of the week.

So even though you didn't get the FW experience -- that was really nice of Disney to take care of your family like that.

Now that's what I call an adventure!

Sorry about your gear being destroyed, but in classic Disney style, the CM's made sure to keep the magic alive!

Glad it all turned out so well. Thanks for sharing your TR!!!!
