Trip Report/FairyTale Package Vacation!

Come on now...tell us more than that :D Where did you stay, for how long, where did you eat, was it good or bad, how was the weather, was it crowded, my trip is comming up in Sept. and we booked the FTP also, so I want to know all the "dis" :teeth:

Hi Again Everyone!

Well, I hit the wrong button and it sent. LOL Ok, I was saying, I had a fantastic time on this package. We were at the ASMovies 8/2-8/9 and we used FlySong (operated under Delta). Song is a great airline!!! The stewardess was comical on both flights, they made the trip so relaxing too. Better than Delta planes. My husband noticed there was more leg room on the Song planes too.
We checked in around 7PM at ASM and they upgraded us to Fantasia bldg #8. Thing was, it was a smoking building and the room was clearly stuffy and stinky. We were told that they could move us back to a down graded room but suggested that housekeeping do a mean job at disinfecting the room with a spray first. We opted for that and was surprised it did the trick for us:) Sooo, we stayed at Fantasia for the duration and was pleasantly not disappointed.
Second day, my hubby went to get fill his mug and get a bite to eat while my son & I slept. He came back telling me their computer was down and they allowed people to pass through with their morning purchases FREE!!!! Holy Moly!!!! He came back to our room with FREE mugs and 3 huge breakfast meals at around 6:30AM!!!! This lasted about an hour and they must have lost a few thousand dollars with this freebie thing! But it sure made our day!
It rained every afternoon(more like down poured!) so we tried to plan everything for the sunny mornings and left the rainy afternoons for indoor stuff like all the rides at Magic Kingdom, MGM, & EPCOT. I redid PS's for the afternoon dinner time (like around 4:25PM) and so glad that worked out with all the rain:) By the time we were done, the rain had stopped for the evening. Umm, I also had bariatric sugery due to medical necessity so I explained that I ate less than 3 ozs at any sitting, plus I had my medical card with me. They all charged me children's prices and were quite helpful in redoing some dishes personally for me since I vomited on the baked chicken. They made a nice moist shrimp dish for me:) Most meals out of buffet places, I shared the children's meal with my 6 yr old son and that worked out perfectly. I am just so glad we were able to hit 4 character meals with our son and not have to be so guilty not eating more than a few bites at each place:) We were just going to hit 2 but with their generosity, I booked more:) At EPCOT, we ate at Rose & Crown and had a great view of Illuminations! Another great tip is when it does rain, you get first dibs right by the lagoon. EPCOT rarely cancells Illuminations so that is a great secret!
At MGM, don't miss Fantasmic show at night. If you aren't there around 7:30-8PM, your best bet is "standing room only". That means you stand the whole show so try to get there early. We ate dinner and did the show at 10PM. Normally, it would be too late for our 6 yr old son but there were seats for such a long show.
The last two days of our trip, we were so lucky not to have downpours:)! One night, we did the Spectromagic and the front of the castle with Tinkerbell flying by. The last night, while everyone was doing Spectromagic, we hit all the rides (Peter Pan's Flight, Winnie the Pooh, Dumbo ride, Carousel, It's a Small World, etc..... all within 15 min wait times!) Then by 10PM, we were behind the castle (I think by Winnie the Pooh ride) and saw the BEST fireworks view EVER! It was a nice ending to a great vacation!
Overall, the parks are getting crowded where FAST PASS for the popular rides like Test Track (we were there around 11AM), we couldn't ride it till 4PM-5PM. Tower of Terror at MGM was the same deal(FAST PASS only offered us a 7PM one) and that's why we missed Fantasmic till 10PM. This is the first time we did this as a family in the summer August month. We will not be doing this month again!!! While the crowds weren't like what they used to be 7 yrs ago, I still think it's ridiculous to be hoping to ride or see a show (like Indiana Jones @ MGM) for 2 hrs wait time and we had FAST PASS too. Our normal months are usually Oct, Nov, or Jan time. We went this time due to the water parks we knew our son would like and since the FairyTale Package means we can go in and out as often as we wanted. We took full advantage of everything while there. The weather would be a better relief in the fall/winter months though.
Oh, one final tip with those who are travelling with 5 yr olds and up, don't hesitate to bring or rent a stroller!! Your child will love you for it!!! This is way too much walking for the little people and my son welcomed this so much by the 4th day!

Hi Again!

Forgot to mention with this package. They sent us pretty sturdy name tags for our luggages:) Also, they will give you a voucher to redeem the poster and pin at the gift shop while you are at the selected hotel. They have on the voucher, selected locations you can get the poster and pin if you don't want to get it at the hotel. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!!! The poster is BEAUTIFUL!! It's a framed (very sturdy sized 11x16?) of Donald Duck and the pin is encased in the frame too. It's good sized and I was soooo impressed picking it up on the final day! We will be hanging it in our son's room along with his very first ride at Splash Mountain:)
My son is 6 now. Daddy went with him to do Splash Mountain (they take a snapshot of you before you do the fast fall and it's worth buying!), Thunder Mountain was a joke to my son, Tower of Terror was nice for them too:) Most rides, I thought was too old for my son but he loved them all and some was even a disappointment because he didn't expect it to be over so fast. My husband who hates shaky rides, also thought they were less than expected. He has been holding back those rides till our son was old enough like this summer. In a way, he was glad it was not more exciting because he was worry of upchucking his lunch. LOL Anyway, we were very thrilled with the Fairytale Package deal:)

Thanks for sharing ~ Wonderful reviews!!!!!!

Thanks for posting. I was happy to hear the restaurants gave you a break on the prices. $ 20+ to eat 3 oz is a bit much!

We're going on the FTP in October. DD is 9 and not too brave (just like her mom). I'm thinking the pre-teen area of BB will be best for us. Melanie

<<Which water park did you go to?

Hi Melanie,

We did the relaxing tube ride as a family. Also did the family tube ride and that was nice. Then my hubby and son went off on their own to more adventurous rides before the torrential thunderstorm hit. The pre teen area sounds fine for your DD:) In fact, I liked the BB main water area over the Typhoon Lagoons because the BB one, the waves just lull you into the water slowly. With Typhoon Lagoon's main water area, every few minutes, a huge horn blasts warning you of a HUGE wave coming! I didn't like not being in the water longer the way BB was because I like to soak and relax. Can't do that with Typhoon. Hope this helps.

We have watched the fireworks near the carrousel and Dumbo are and it is a spectacular view...
