Just back from a great trip in Disney. I traveled with a party of 8 adults, the youngest being 19. We stayed at the SSR. We have been to Disney multiple times and were really looking to try something new; therefore we chose the DDP in order to experience more of the signature dining options.

Day 1: Arrival Day

Fulton's Crab House- We all really enjoyed this place! I ate the King Crab Legs and thought they were really good! The cookie dessert was also something I really enjoyed, although I did not have much room left for it. All of us agreed that we would return here! In fact, three of the people I was traveling with returned here later in the week for lunch.

Day 2:

Mama Melrose- We chose this restaurant in order to secure reserved seating for Fantasmic (which was unfortunately cancelled that night due to rain). We were originally going to dine at The Brown Derby, since we were on the DDP, but we opted here instead. I have never been a big fan of this place but the other people in my group have always enjoyed it here. They enjoy "Italian" food. I actually enjoyed this meal (I had the Strip Steak w/ 5 cheese pasta) but most of the people I was with were not impressed (they all had more traditional Italian dishes). I am not sure if we would go back, if so, it would simply be for the Fantasmic seating. I for one, would love to give Brown Derby a chance instead.

Day 3:

Spirit of Aloha- I had read on the DIS that most people were happy they had gone to the Spirit of Aloha but would not be in a hurry to return. I couldn't agree more. I enjoyed the fact that gratuity and alcohol were included, but the food was mediocre and the show was not very entertaining. I AM glad we gave it a chance but we all agreed that we would probably not go back. I also felt rushed at this meal, which I did not enjoy.

Day 4:

Crystal Palace (Breakfast)- I really enjoyed this buffet. I thoroughly enjoyed Pooh's Puffed French Toast and the character interaction was nice as well. None of us are big breakfast eaters, but we all agreed that we enjoyed this meal!

Cinderella's Royal Table- I was really excited for this meal because I would finally get a chance to see the inside of Cinderella's castle. It was really beautiful inside and I was surprised with the meal as well. I enjoyed the food but felt the tables were too close together. I also felt that they were trying to get us in and out as fast as possible. I understand time is money, but I would have preferred a slower pace meal, especially in such a unique location.

Day 5:

Yachtsman Steakhouse- This meal was one of the best we had all week! Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Contrary to our other meals, this meal was LOOOONG. It lasted well over two hours! The food was delicious and the service was great! The rolls and butter were exceptional as well! We all agreed that we would be back! I had the Surf and Turf! I regret going with this dish, only because I was not crazy about the "surf" but the filet was great! Next time I will simply stick with the steak! One of the people in my party ordered the 28 oz. porterhouse and declared it as the "best steak" he had ever ate. For those of you prone to the A/C, bring a jacket! It was VERY cold here!

Day 6:

California Grill- You really can't beat this place! The view, food and service are exceptional! We were not as impressed as we were the first time we dined here, but that was because it was our only signature dining restaurant last trip. On our last trip the Cali Grill was dubbed our "Big Meal." It was our first time there and our only signature dining restaurant of the trip, so we were blown away! We were spoiled this trip, with multiple signature dining restaurants; therefore we did not experience the same excitement as we had on our last trip. Still, the food was amazing and the views were awesome! We would all return here in the future.

Day 7:

Coral Reef- This was a last minute add-in. I had read some not-so-stellar reviews on the DIS, but I have to say I did enjoy it here! We waited 20 minutes for our table (the longest of the trip) but we didn't care, WE WERE IN DISNEY WORLD! I ordered the Mahi, which I really liked! My only complaint was the way our table was set-up. There were 8 of us so we were placed on the top row of the tiered dining room (which still provided us with a great view) but the table was two separate booths that could not be connected, so I felt far away from some of the other people in my party.

Day 8:

Narcoossee's- The atmosphere here was great. I loved the views of the Seven Sea's Lagoon and the surrounding GF Resort is spectacular. This meal was very good. I loved the Hearts of Romaine appetizer and the surf and turf was great! The desserts won rave reviews as well. Not as memorable as Cinderella's Royal Table or the California Grill, but I was very glad we went here and would consider going back again!

Day 9: Departure Day :(

50's Prime Time Cafe (early lunch)- We were really impressed with our first trip here in 2008 and unimpressed with our last trip here in 2010. This time would have to rank somewhere in between! Our server (Mark, I believe) was great, very "in character" but were were all so full from a weeks worth of appetizers, entrees and desserts, that none of us really had room to eat! Most of us settled with the Cesar Salad. I am not really keen on the type of "comfort" food they serve here, but others in my party are, so I am sure we will return in the future.

Overall, I was impressed with the food and service. We did not have an terrible servers. Yes, some were better then others but none of them were bad, by any means. Dining in Disney World has always been one of our favorite parts of our trip and I am sure everyone I traveled with is eager to return, especially for the food!

We are heading to Disney in 10 days and seem to following in a similar plan, DDP for 9 days with a lot of the same restaurants. I was happy to see your reviews, trying Yatchsman and a few others for the first time and was glad to see your comments. Thanks!!:thumbsup2

What happened with them cancelling Fantasmic? Do you get anything for that (like a pass to a future Fantasmic) or are just out of luck?

I was actually surprised that they cancelled Fantasmic. Sure it was raining but they cancelled it rather early (around 6 PM). Thankfully, it was towards the beginning of our trip so we were able to go to another show later in the week. They honored our Reserved Seating. All we needed was the green slip they gave us at the restaurant. We had no problem getting into the show the night before we left!
