Trip Report-Disney Dream, BLT, Animation resort and SSR.

I've never been big on room service, but after reading your most recent post I might be a convert. Hot chocolates and a cookie before bed sound great.

I had a good chuckle at the up-selling in the spa and your purchase of a pinetarsol smelling gel. How disappointing and grosse! I don't have good memories with pinetarsol so that would be hideous!

LOVING the free room service! That would be awesome.

Loving the whole TR! Looking forward to the next instalment.
Yes good old pinetarsol....we were had:rotfl2:

I am loving reading your report Kyl, very descriptive and detailed :thumbsup2

Thanks Caroline, I am glad you are all enjoying. I hope I have given some advice. As I know you guys all helped me in my years of planning disney trips:grouphug:

Breakfast at the royal palace this morning with our friends. Yummy eggs lol! This was not a buffet breakfast. It was a sit down and order so that was a little different. But everyone enjoyed their meals. We had a chuckle at the other family when their DD13 and DH had coke with their morning meal. DD13 even started to laugh when they ordered it:lmao: We had planned the night prior to sit together on castaway cay and enjoy this beautiful island as two families.
After breakfast we headed to our rooms to grab swimmers etc and meet up. The ship was a little rocky???? What was going on? Well the captin had some struggles getting the ship into port with the winds and tides. He tried about four times to get it in...oh please so close come on please get it in:scared1:To our captins credit he did it yay. It was no easy task and many people sang his praises for getting us to port. Good on you captin;)
We were waiting to get off when we arrived in the stairway. So one of the first off. They didn't make us show our keys as they said we had already missed out on an hour or two of castaway cay so just get off. I guess this is disneys own island! Although we showed our keys to get back on fair enough.
We decided to get the tram to the second family beach pelican beach. I had done some reading about this! Many people walked and took their time getting there. However I wanted good seats front seats so I could watch our kids play. We got a A plus seat when we arrived....thinking we were right across from the water floating slide. Bummer it wasn't working today:headache:It looked like fun though. Never mind we were still close to the shore line and the water was just beautiful. It was a clear lime/aqua colour. The sand was white as and then we laid down on our seats look up a cocconut tree! This is really an island paradise. Like something outa a movie:lovestrucWe had heard that alot of the merchandise can sell out at the shops. As in t-shirt sizes etc so get there early if you plan on buying. The two mums did this and let the men go for a swim with the others. I came out with nemo floaties for DS5 and sand toys. They have the cutest stuff! :woohoo:DS and DD all loved the sand toys and made sand castle after sand castle. We then found a cocktail stand ummmm o.k we got our selves a cocktail each in a plastic cocconut shell and the boys a beer. This was a day from heaven...like really I can't tell you enough how nice that day was. After a beautiful swim on a nice warm day we headed off to lunch at cookies BBQ 2. This was yummy. I really wasn't expecting much thinking hot dogs burgers etc. But the BBQ chicken was yummo and they had chicken fillet burgers salads etc. It was actually very nice. After lunch the other family asked if we would like to join them for a bike ride...I decided to give a miss I really wanted to enjoy that beautiful water again as did DD9. But the others all went. They reached a look out and could see all around the island. The photos looked nice. I will treasure the swim I had with DD9 that day, she was so happy. We swam for a couple of hours together it was lovely, she said she will never forget how nice castaway cay is while we were swimming...oh sweet heart neither will i:hug: We floated around and just enjoyed the cystal clear water:love: When the others returned my lot decided to have another swim after about an hour we looked around and many people had gone:scared1: It was 4.30pm What a shame the day just went to quickly...it was time to head back. But not before a few last photos with our new friends. On the tram back to ship we went.
That day was hallaween, whilst we really don't do hallaween we realise it is a custom over their so the kids dressed up for the meal that night. DD13 had orange and black out fit with a head band with pumkins on it. DD9 had her sleeping beauty outfit and DD5 was a super hero. They looked cute. Just like the pirate night some really dressed up while others didn't. I have to say the pumkin cut outs they did were something else. They had tables set up with candy etc. Kids loved it. That night we were all tired. The older kids watched the show. The younger ones did oceaners club for an hour. While we big kids packed everything up. As our bags had to be out the door that night. All in all it was just the most magical cruise but it went way to quick;)

Loving your trip report.

I didn't think it was possible to feel more excited about my upcoming Fantasy cruise, but after reading you description of Castaway Cay, I do.

You will have so much fun WanderlustNZ. How long will your cruise go for? 7 nights. I really wish we did the 7 nights rather than 4! Never mind gives us something to plan for 2014:hyper:So I will look forward to reading your TR when you return....it's good fun sharing in one anothers journeys and excitement;)

Yes, 7 nights Eastern Caribbean. Can't wait. The sand in your pics of Castaway Cay looks so soft and white.

Will definitely do a trip report. I find it quite relaxing to go back to my room at the end of the day and write up the day's events. I'm so pleased that WDW has free wifi as I might be able to do some live updates. Only 9 1/2 months to go. Not that I'm counting.... LOL.

You lucky thing! You have something really special to look forward to;)

I love the pics of CC. I can't wait for our turn!

I'd love to do a halloween in America (not interested in doing one here, but as they say, when in Rome...) and one on the cruise would be cool.

Were the soft drinks on the island free like at the drink station onboard?

*sigh* it all sounds Devine! The swim with your daughter sounds like something you'll treasure forever :)

Sorry its been a while I have been working a fair bit of late and my kids are now on school holidays:worship:.
DAY 5....so very early morning start today. We needed to be at breakfast by 7am. I understand disney has another cruise departing that day. But the last morning was just really a rush. We had to go to breakfast where we ate the night prior. That was fine it was at the royal palace. However after we had given our tips the night prior there was a definate difference in the way the servers attended to us. No where near as nice:confused3. We tipped them well, I thought. We paid our tips prior to the cruise and gave what disney recommends to each server etc. This was disappointing it was almost as if I have my tip so I don't have to be nice....anyways the breakfast was very limited to what was only on the menu. The anouncements were clear time to go so as much as we didn't want to leave we had to...I have to say that morning would of been my only complaint on the whole cruise experience. All in all we loved our cruise trip it really was alot of fun:lovestruc.
Getting off was easy enough, our bags were in allocated areas. Ours was in the red mickey I think area. It was easy to enough they had someone in each section to help. We grabbed our bags and headed through customs. This took about 40mins...the lines were long but they moved quick:yay:. Once out we had to say goodbye to the family we had become friends with...this was really sad:hug: We would continue our holiday without them now and I was really kinda down about it. Silly I know but they were so much darn fun! My hubby went to check out the guys "pick up" he paid $40,000 for. DH said in Australia they were like $160,000:scared1: I stayed with the kids and luggage while he did this as it was a bit of a distance from the ship to the parking area.
We had booked the mickey bus to the contempary resort. We sat on the bus for sometime like about 45mins before it left. But it was nice just looking at the dream out the window for that time. However DS5 was board and I wished they had of left a bit early than they did.....
We had booked a garden room for one night as we had organised and booked a one bedroom unit through davids vacation rentals at BLT for one week the following day. When we arrived at about 11am I asked if it was possible that our room was ready...being disney of course mam we have a room available for you right now. Bell service was called over to help with our luggage and we were up graded to a tower room:banana:. It was nice to be in the main building. The room its self whilst nice you can tell the resort is one of the orginals. The balcony etc is old, clean but older. I enjoyed our night there but the week in BLT was bliss. The room had two queen beds and a lounge that converted into a single bed. There was no turn down service so it was a case of figure out the whole lounge to bed thing yourself. That was easy enough but being a deluxe resort I thought turn down was a given:rolleyes: When I asked in the morning about this I was told that its only in concierge that turn down occurs. Different to disneyland at the GCH turn down occurs each night even if you are in a standard room. Small detail really.
The kids were keen that night to go for a swim and try the water slide. We got in the pool and ten minutes later were told to get out due to a maintance issue. We were offered the use of the adults only pool....oh my word nice! I can see why karen loves that pool. It was heated. We were the only ones in it. It was dark when we went in so the lights on at night and the warm water was alot of fun for all. The kids had a heap of fun!
That day we ate at the contempary cafe...it was o.k the flat breads and salads were the best of the menu. We all slept well that night...ready for DAY 6 at magic kingdom and our first night at BLT:cheer2:
