This was mostly a make-up day for what we didn't get to do on March 2nd. Only my sister and I went up for a few hours, and a few hours was all we needed!
Arriving at the parking lot at 9:15 a.m., the sign read Disneyland was Very Busy. Once again, we took the Monorail entrance into Tomorrowland and grabbed Fast Passes for Space Mountain to return between 11:20-12:20.
We next took a walk over to the Matterhorn and jumped into the line of the Fantasyland side. Afterward, it was another jump into a rather short line for Mr. Toad's Wild Ride. If anyone has noticed, the ride tends to have less special effects then other times. For example, Hell was a lot more intense. It was very steamy, there were more lights flickering, and something dripped down on my sister, which gave me a good laugh.
After the trip through Hell, we headed to New Orleans Square to jump in line for POTC. We were given the chance to step out of line early to get a seat, but, unfortunantely, we were given the very back row of the boat! Uhhh, if anyone has ever been back there, you'll note it always seems to have a small puddle, making it hard to sit back all the way. My sister and I had to ride leaned forward the whole time. Hope the two ladies in front of us didn't mind!
After POTC, the time read 10:54 by my watch, and I wondered if we could go get a delicious turkey sandwich and soup at the River Belle Terrace. Breakfast was still being served and I didn't feel up to having that so close to lunch. We ended up at the French Market to split a sandwich and have some yummy Clam Chowder soup.
By 11:15, we stopped in Adventureland to get a second Fast Pass for Indiana Jones to return between 12:25-1:25. Upon getting to the entrance to SM, we discovered the ride broke down! Great thing was, we only left briefly to use the restroom by the SM exit and returned to see it up and running again. We were almost put in the back row, but the CM changed her mind and placed us in the front!
We then walked through the path to the Matterhorn near Ariel's grotto, just in time to catch the great mountain climb Mickey does daily with Goofy and Minnie. We continued on to see the line for Roger Rabbit Cartoon Spin in Mickey's Toontown, but with a 53 minute wait, it wasn't worth it. Some other time.
Returning to New Orleans Square again, my sister wanted to jump on POTC again, hoping to get a better seat before we had to go home. The line looked far too long and I noted we had some time to kill before our Indiana Jones Fast Pass at 12:25. We ended up checking out the Disney Galley for a few minutes. That Thomas Kinkade portrait of the 50th celebration is gorgeous!
Indiana Jones was a disaster area. People were waving 12:30 Fast Passes to the CM and we were trying to fight our way through to show we had ones of 5 minutes early. The CM asked for any earlier passes and I screamed, "12:25!!!!" Suddenly, the crowd parted and my sister broke our way through to get in. Goodness! It was total lunacy!
After that, it was one last attempt to jump on POTC for one last time before it closed down. We got in line, dealt with the long wait, and got seated in the second row of the boat! Much better than the back. I should also mention that the two times we rode it, we got such cheerful people singing along with the theme song and really having a good time. This ride is going to be very missed for quite awhile. I hope June 24 gets here soon!
It was then we had to leave because I had work at 5 p.m. and had to allow myself time to get home, rest and get ready. We lastly stopped at the Disney Emporium to purchase a 50th mug for one of Mom's co-workers and we were on the road by 2 p.m. I was glad we went again to ride POTC, but I don't know how I have the strength and energry to run around DL and then go to work later on! I guess it's because I'm young.
And that's my report!
